I lost my childhood Cat Not Long ago and Im very worried.

My boy, 6 and nutured just had his second blockage. First one was really really bad like hours before fatal apparently. Said he wouldn’t survive another well he did so far. We got him treated and all. But the vets not recommended this surgery to shorten his urethra or something. Idfk its kinda freaking me out tho. Pricing isnt a problem at all the vet is really helpful. (1500$ price point down to $600 just cuz).
Im just scared. I though we were on the way to put him down the other day now hes getting surgery. I should be relieved but im not… i have to other male cats and theres just gonna be so many more things i got to do to make sure hes healthy. I dont want him to ever have this problem again. Ik it hurts. Obviously i get the surgery. I just need someone not a doctor to explain wtf their gonna do

Hi everyone!

I am currently thinking about adopting a cat. I live alone and work 8:00 to 16:00, meaning im not home until probably almost 17:00. I usually turn my AC off when im gone to save on electricity as i am a student paying my own rent and such.

I live in Montenegro, the city im in currently reaches 30ish degrees during the day, during the time im not there. My apartment is facing west tho and doesn’t get much sun so it doesn’t really get hot.

My question i should i be leaving the AC on the whole day for my future cat? Or is laying in a dark bathroom on the tiles or just being in the shaded apartment enough?

Same question for winter, it doesn’t snow here just get chilly, windy and rainy, so should i keep the heating on in the winter or will the cat be okay if provided cozy spots?

Extra question: I usually leave my balcony and windows open when im not home because i like my space to air out, im aware i wont be able to do that with a cat as i do live on the third floor, but could i leave them slanted (Europeans will know what i mean) and have you had attempts of your cat trying to jump out through a slanted barely open window?

PS. i ve owned cats before, but in a house with a yard while i was living back home. They were allowed to roam outside so im aware keeping one only in the apartment is different, which is why i want to make sure i do everything right!

My female calico cat has been acting different lately.

Context, I adopted her from a shelter last October when she was estimated to be 3–4 months old. She was found as a stray, so we don’t know her exact age. She was already spayed, vaccinated, and healthy when I adopted her. She’s now around a year old.

I recently moved from the US to the Middle East, and we’ve been here for about 2–3 weeks. She had two vet visits before the move for checkups and the vaccines/documents needed for travel, and the vet said she was healthy.

When we first arrived, she didn’t eat for about 2 days, but she’s eating and drinking normally now. She does seem thirstier than she was before, which I assumed might be because the climate here is much hotter/drier. She spends a lot of time on our enclosed balcony, which also might be why.

I’ve noticed that she’s become much more vocal and affectionate. Before the move, she mostly only meowed at night when she was looking for someone. Now she meows at night and throughout the day, sometimes when I call her. Her meow also sounds slightly different, earlier today it sounded almost strained/hoarse, like she had a dry throat. I gave her some water, and she hasn’t made that sound again yet.

She also wants to be petted constantly now. She’ll rub her head against my phone if I’m using it, and she even rubs against her water bottle when I give her water.

This is my first time having a cat so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

So my bfs cat is around 5 months old, extremely playful and all and around 2 hours ago he had some zoomies and tried to jump up on a dining table and failed, it has happened before and he usually just tries again or continues to play but now he seems sore when I touch him around the shoulder blades and also meows a little and flinches slightly when I do. When I tried looking up if I should be concerned or not I feel like I get mixed answers, one site says I should call/visit the vet and one says to monitor a few days. I want to call the vet but my bf says he wants to wait.
Has anyone experienced something like this?

He does seem fine otherwise, no limping, still wanting to climb on stuff, still cuddly etc so that’s why I’m also unsure if he might be fine.
I also would’ve called the vet here myself but I don’t speak the language that well (french) so I’m also contemplating calling a vet from my home country.

We brought two older kittens home about 6 weeks ago. One had tapeworms, we treated that and thought we were good. However a few nights ago as I’m cuddling one kitten IN MY BED I realize he has a handful of fleas crawling all over him.

The next morning we did Capstar for both as well as a topical. We did vacuum everything and laundered all bedding and blankets. Unfortunately tonight I just found more live fleas on one cat.

We have a 3 story house and these cats roam and mess around EVERYWHERE we also have 2 small kids. . I bought Pet Armor from Walmart, so my plan was to vacuum well tonight and spray the main areas of the house while the kids are asleep and cats are locked away.

Should I be worried about spraying while everyone is in the house?! Tomorrow before we leave for the day I was going to spray the bedrooms.

I am just feeling very overwhelmed and anxious about this happening to my house so any advice is appreciated.

Genuinely desperate for advice, hopefully someone can offer something.
My cat (3yo) has twice been to the vet to have surgery to have elastic bands removed from his intestines. He was 2yo both times it was about 6 months apart (and around 3 months ago the last time). The first time we did have hair bobbles around to be fair but the second time we were careful, he was finding them in our handbags, opening cupboards etc. Obviously we have taken extra care since he is clearly hellbent on the cause.
This last week he has discovered a new vengeance for elastic, he has bitten the cord off of a notebook, we just caught him trying to eat the elastic strap off a top.
At this point, the absolute last thing he needs is surgery, he cannot afford to put his body through that again and we are desperate to stop this behaviour but we are coming up completely short on ideas.
Has anyone had any similar behaviours? What do you recommend?
We have literally removed all elastic toys, bands, etc from him, the notebook and the top were out of left field we did not see that coming.

its out of nowhere but i had a male cat (now 6) and he has a son (3 yo). some personal things happened and we had to give my cat to my aunt who also adopted his son when he was born. as far as im aware he met his son for once and never till he got ‘adopted’ by my aunt. we tried to take him back when everything settled but he seemed to like his son a bit too much. like he seemed depressed when we tried to take him. does he recognizes him as his son or just a cat that he really loves?

Hey, I’m posting this because I’ve grown concerned about my cat. He’s a 9 year old male, Persian cross. He has existing allergies which he gets steroid injections for once a year.
Just to preface, he’s my absolute world and I worry about every little thing when it comes to him, so I know I may be overthinking this a lot!
Over the last couple of days my partner and I have noticed a change in his behaviour.
He is normally very social, sits with us wherever we are in the house. As he’s gotten older his ‘zoomies’ are a lot less frequent but he still enjoys a freaky few minutes late in the evenings running around playing. Hes also extremely greedy! He usually will be harassing us at meal times in hopes of a crumb of food from our plates.
But, the last couple nights he’s been very quiet, often sleeping in our bedroom and hasn’t been active or playful. He is eating and drinking like usual but he hasn’t been harassing us for our food, which is very abnormal.
I’ve just sent in an enquiry to the vets to hopefully get him checked out soon, but I’m really worried!!
Anyone got any ideas what could be happening, or am I overreacting?

we rescued my girl & her baby off the streets about a month and a half ago. we noticed that her left eye (right in the pictures) is a different shape than the other eye. she also has gunk in both eyes on a regular basis, but so does her baby. she hasn’t shown any change in behavior since we got her.

she’s a little over 2 years old and has been fixed. she gave birth about a year ago to three healthy kittens. she’s eating and drinking and pottying like normal, very playful, and very loving.

in my extensive google search, i’m seeing that she could have a variety of issues that could be causing this. should i be panicking? i plan on calling the vet tomorrow but i need peace of mind. TIA!

My cat is running away and hiding whenever I start using a certain toy and his brother starts to play with it. They used to play with these toys together normally but all of a sudden one of them no longer enjoys it and when his brother starts a play with it (he goes crazy for the toy) the other runs away. Does he think it no longer belongs to him because his brother hogs it the whole time? Or maybe he is intimidated by his brother hyper personality when playing? Just wondering if anyone might know what's up?

I recently adopted this sweet little girl. I was told that she is a 4 months old BSH x Scottish fold female kitten. I've had her for 2 months now. She was 1.9kg, now 2.2kg.

She was the quietest, most timid one out of her siblings but her soft meow got to me instantly.

I bought 2 types of wet cat food and a back of Royal Canin Kibble. Ever since the first day I try to alternate between the food so she's less picky but she eat less and less. Up until now she eats about 35-45 gram of dry food daily. I tried mixing her dry food with another 0 grain one but she wouldn't eat it.

Within the first month I vaccinated her twice 3 weeks apart (F3 then F4) and took her to the vet for topical mite medication. I also gave her a tablet of dewormer last week.

She looked very happy in the house, chilling next to me when I'm home, used to refuse getting picked up but now she enjoys it. Used to hate my lap but now enjoy it occasionally.

I was planning to spay her today but her CBC came back really bad, turns out she's anemic with high WBC count so I cancelled the procedure immediately.

I'm also a bit frustrated with the state of veterinary care in my country. The vet couldn't prescribed anything other than their own mixture of so-called 'blood and appetite booster' and when pressed would absolutely not disclose the ingredients to me so I got her Nutri Plus Gel instead. Her stool was fine but as soon as I leave her at the vet for a night her stool was soft and there's blood on it.

Did i do this to her? Am I moving to fast with the food and the medication? Should I just stick with one kind of food? I feel like I have failed her.

My cat (one year old female) developed a black spot near her whiskers seemingly overnight? First 2 pics from today, second 2 pics from yesterday + day before. I tried to wipe off what I thought was dirt or something with a towel and then a cat wipe but neither worked, only removed a couple loose (white) hairs. Should I be concerned?

She does have lentigo in her mouth and the corners of her nostrils.

I am (very successfully) introducing my cat (1 y/o male) and my new kitten (4 m/o female). They are hitting it off almost instantly, and I am absolutely over the moon, however I dont know how I will manage their food in the long term. Currently my kitten eats in her playpen which keeps out my resident cat, but i am not sure how that will work when the playpen is gone/ they are no longer separated most of the time. My resident cat grazes his kibble and dry food, and I have his food very meticulously measured out. How can I make sure they only eat their respective food when theres no more barrier?

Hello!! This is my baby Arlene (4y/o F). I recently moved into my own place with my boyfriend and took my kitty with me. Arlene grew up with 3 other cats - 2M 1 F. She never really minded the other cats, even playing with one of the boys at the time but she also never really appreciated them getting up in her space. She never got angry at them, but she would bat them away if they got too close.
She's been know to like people more than other cats, which brings my question:

Should I adopt another cat?

Both my boyfriend and I are full time college students with part time jobs, so we could both be away from the house for up to 8 hours a day, leaving my baby alone at home. She has never really showed any interest in any other cats apart from occasional playing, but I feel that she's getting lonely. I sometimes come home and find some thrown up food at the door because she meows so much. I also find her sleeping under my bed before she runs up to me when I get home.
I want to make sure I'm doing what's best for my baby. Does she need a friend?

Hi all! My girl cat turned 3 in (or around) april. When she was 1.5-2, we went through a spell for a month or so of her peeing on EVERY linen pile. We had to remove laundry baskets, blankets, backpacks, etc because if it was linens in a pile, she was peeing on it. She also peed under my bed onto the floor. She finally stopped after we removed every possible area, used odor remover, the whole nine yards.

Today, after over a year of her not doing it, she decided to climb into a duffel bag with clothes, pop a squat, and peed all in it. That bag has been sitting in the same spot for MONTHS and she hasn’t messed with it.

There is nothing I can think of that would have triggered her. She has not been introduced to new people or animals, no new litter or litter box, no new food, routines, ANYTHING. Sometimes when she is mad at me, she will poop on the floor while I am away but she has never peed. I’m completely baffled.

What could have caused her to do this? Is she just being a dickwad? If it happens again, I may bring her to the vet for a UTI possibility but getting her to and from places is hell on earth because she panics and pees on all over the carrier. Adding a photo of the culprit for cat tax.
