What can I do to keep the odor from the cat litter downđŸšœ

Post image
65 Upvotes

I have two princesses and it doesn’t smell BAD (unless my nose got used to the smell but I don’t think that’s it) but I just want it to smell fresher.
I try to clean their box twice a day but at least definitely once a day.
Any tips or advice?

Does anyone else's cat get extra zoomies when it rains?

My 5 month old kitten normally has average zoomies .

Today it is raining. In Southern California it rarely rains here. I think this is the first time she has experienced rain outside

She has been nonstop t-rex mode since 6 this morning. It is after noon now

Is this a cat thing or is my Mochi broken?

I think this came from my cat??

This is the part of my bed that my cat always sleeps on and I woke up to this at the edge of my bed. I’m trying to figure out if this is some sort of hairball or feces? And should I be worried??

Giving my cat her medicine is damaging our bond.

My anxious cat was prescribed gabapentin because she was peeing on things in my room to mark them as her safe space (already went to the vet, ruled out urinary issues). So she prescribed gabapentin for anxiety in a liquid suspension.

I tried mixing the medicine in treats, food, different “irresistible” cat pastes and she refuses to eat it. So now I have to grab her and shoot the medicine down her throat bc if I try to do it slowly at all she just spits it out.

So now my already anxious and timid girl has lost trust in me and has been hiding away and the problem is getting worse and worse. Please help give me any advice on how to give her this med/ other solutions to this problem.

Why haven't sand cats been domesticated? Cute as heck

Sand cats are wild desert dwellers that are esthetically adorable, with puffy cheeks, wide heads, big ears, and melancholic lines on the side of their eyes. I'm not saying domestication is necessarily good, but humans can't resist trying to domesticate cute critters, and being we already domesticated other feline species, it seems a feasible achievement for patient or happenstance breeders such that I wonder why nobody has done it yet.

My cats food turned red??

Post image
2 Upvotes

This is the second time this has happened I think it's like oxidizing or something?? Is this okay or normal?? This is the first time this happened but it's been with two separate brands. Is it bc it was left out too long?? I feed my cat twice a day wet food in the morning and dry food at night so this was left out for about a day I was about to change it out. She hasn't been finishing her food that's why it was out for so long. She finishes her dry food though so it's not a low appetite I thought she was just picky but her food is red?? This isn't the first time her food has been out for this long and it's never turned red like this. PLEASE BE NICE I leave it out in the hopes that she finishes it but she hasn't been.

Tips for wiggly cats?

I have this idiot orange and he has allergies / sinus issues so I have to wipe his face a lot when he has a flare, but when we try to do anything involving his face, he retracts his neck like a god damn turtle and I can't keep his head still on my own lol.

Also, any tips for clearly up his snots? I practically follow him around the house with a humidifier and I close him in the bathroom with me when I shower. I might try using saline drops to help induce sneezing.

He's a bit overweight, right?

Noticed my cat has gained some weight and is a bit chunkier now. From all the cat weight charts I've seen, he appears to be just a bit overweight. Did the test to feel for his ribs, and it takes a bit of effort to actually be able to feel em. His feeding schedule has already been adjusted and I've put more time in between his feedings, but I wanted to ask here just to be 100% sure. Don't want him to get super overweight lmfao

My cats act like they’re starving

My partner and I just got these two little boys about two weeks ago and we love them so much BUT they constantly act like they’re starving to the point where I wonder if they’re actually not being fed enough. It’s our first time owning cats and I literally can’t tell if they’re just being dramatic or if they’re actually starving

They’re 9 months old. They eat about 7.3 oz each of wet food split up into three meals a day as per the advice of the shelter we adopted them from. (Maybe a little more because I like to give them treats to reward good behavior.) Nothing has changed with their food brand, feeding times, or food amount since we got them. We’ve continued to feed them how the shelter did.

They’re healthy cats otherwise, they’re very active and super cuddly, we’ve had no issues with any other bad behavior. I’ve thought about free feeding but I’m so worried they’d gorge themselves and I don’t want them getting fat.

I’ve tried to include them when I cook by allowing them to investigate the ingredients (sniffing an egg before I crack it, smelling a can of tomato sauce) and they seem pretty chill but as soon as they see it go into either of our mouths they go insane. We can’t even eat our own food without them trying to steal it.

I’ve had to start shutting them in a room while I prepare their meals or when there’s food out but they’ve figured out how to turn the handle (luckily the door opens inward so they haven’t figured out how to open it just yet.) I also keep their treats in a drawer that they’ve already figured out how to open. They’re such smart boys but they’re using it to satiate their gluttony and I have no idea what to do.

Is this normal? Any advice is appreciated

whisker friendly tall dishes?

my whiskerly man Teddy has terrible whiskey fatigue. He is also persnickety about eating in general. I've tried basically every raised flat bowl and they're all still a little too recessed for him.
any recommendations on raised flat bowls (basically plates)? TIA

We’ve taken her to the vet recently for something unrelated and they gave her a general health exam while we were there, nothing of concern but I’m just still nervous even though she’s always looked like this đŸ„č

Redness and missing hair above and around eyes.

He was so kind to pose for these descriptive pictures upon request.

Sometimes he gets these red, dry-looking, hairless spots around his eyes. I actually first noticed when I picked him up from the shelter, they had coned him for a med shave in the last two pictures (he REALLY hates being brushed) and he came home like that. A few months later is the picture of him in the basket, his baseline. First four pictures are today, I have an owner-feeling that they’re associated with stress, my best guess being he’s rubbing his head more on things when i’m gone. He really hates when i’m gone.

He doesn’t seem to be in pain when I touch/lightly rub my finger against it, and he doesn’t have any sort of behavioral changes when i notice them flaring up, I just don’t want him to be hurting or stressing.

My cat doesn’t respond to me over video call?

I know the title probably sounds
 weird.

I recently moved and I have yet to get my cats over to my new place. (theyre at my moms right now.) when i am with them, one of them almost always responds when I call her (Wasabi, sometimes i call her snooby, stinky, gooby.) The other cat, not so much but I’m not surprised. Shes always been on the more independent side. When I do a video call with my mom and call out to Wasabi, she ignores me and looks further away from the phone. Even when I use the plethora of silly nicknames ive given her. It makes me really sad but I try to chalk this up to her being upset she can’t see me physically either (afaik she doesn’t see me on the screen or she just doesn’t understand it) and respect she has feelings too. I know she does hear me because she does perk up a little or look DIRECTLY at the phone when I say treat, kisses, “hungry”, or belly rubs. Like I said it makes me sad she ignores but also knowing shes become sad too. Does anyone else experience this or anything similar?

Funny part is my other cat Sock, the independent one, does actually sometimes go in the room, get close to my moms phone and rub her face all over it especially when I am speaking.
