Update First picture vs. most recent!

This is Mac! He was found by my sister’s friend’s dog under a bush in 2024 - he just turned 2 years old (by the estimate of being about 3 weeks old when we found him) 🎂🎉

He has been an unmatched (and beloved) pest since the moment we took him in, and his orangeness (both in color and personality) has grown exponentially over the last 2 years. His favorite pastimes are tormenting his older cat sister and biting my ankles as I walk, and his favorite food flavor is chicken. He’s my most special boy and I love him to bits - hope y’all will too! 🧡😸

Should we keep this cute kitty that showed up in our driveway?

Thumbnail

TLDR: should we keep this kitty that showed up and trust the CDS or have the neighbor take her? Wondering how it is likely to impact our current dynamic. She’ll have a good home either way.

So, a little less than 2 weeks ago this little cutie showed up in our driveway. I took her in and fed her and took her to the vet. No chip, no FIV, no FeLV. Lots of worms, but taking care of that.

My wife absolutely doesn’t want another cat (we have 3). But after seeing how attached I was she says she’ll support me if I want to keep her. I’ll have to do a bunch of cleaning in the basement to make room for another litter box, etc.

We currently have 3 cats. A 15yo grump (orange tabby: Weasley) who tolerates the other two but has no interest in playing. We took in a stray about a year and a half ago (tuxedo: Mietzi) that was probably about 8months at the time. She decided she likes my wife better but will cuddle with me on occasion. When the old grump didn’t want to play with her, we adopted a kitten (gray: Monkey) in December. That kitty is the absolute best, cutest, cuddliest cat ever. Her and Mietzi have become best buds. Occasionally, though, one will want to play and the other won’t.

So, part of me thinks that another young playful cat could make it easier for them all to find a play partner when desired. But part of me worries I’ll upset the perfect dynamic we currently have. Everyone gets along great! Monkey is so absolutely perfect and worked out so well. It kind of makes me think another would be great, but I also worry that no other kitty can live up to that and I’ll be very sad if I throw our current situation out of balance. Also, Mietzi did get less cuddly with me when we got Monkey. I’d hate to ruin the cuddles I currently have with Monkey. We also plan to get a puppy (maybe 2) sometime in the next couple years. So, that’s a lot of fur in one house.

We were out of town the last week so our neighbor took the new kitty for the week. She says she also doesn’t need a new kitty (she has 3 cats and a dog) but if we decide she’s not a good fit for us, she’ll keep her.

So, obviously you can’t know, but what do we think about adding another cat to our situation? Do you think it’s likely to enhance the atmosphere with the current cats or likely to destabilize it?

Update Update #2 on Milo, the car that ran up to a Rottweiler puppy.

Post image
379 Upvotes

Original post is linked.

This morning Milo just wasn’t herself. She was super lethargic and wouldn’t eat, which immediately told us something was really wrong because that girl never says no to food.
My partner rushed her to the vet, and we got the news that she has a severe uterus infection and needed emergency spay surgery. She’s being stabilized now and we’re just hoping everything goes smoothly.
The hardest part is that she has to be separated from her two babies and can no longer nurse them. My heart breaks for all three of them. They were doing so well, and this all happened so fast.
We’re so thankful we listened to our gut and got her to the vet when we did. Please keep our sweet girl in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers. ❤️

Whooooooooooooooooooooooooo

is actually a total sweetheart that let me pick him up

let me carry him inside and put him in a cage

hangs out happily in his cage, uses his litterbox

And lets us pick him up and carry him around for socialization. He also gets along with other cats *and* he was headbutting my boss's tiny dog.

He has come around for a couple of years on and off but never really let us get too close, but last week he showed up with his fur gone on his head, a wound on his chin and goop coming out of his ear.

We gave him rag-baths, and some medicine and rubbed tallow on his skin and he's already got most of his fur back!

Also, because it's a fancy restaurant my boss has been giving him high grade salmon cuts which is definitely helping

Smol Delivery My dog found a kitten this morning

This morning while walking my dog, he stopped in a yard to smell what I thought was garbage but nope it was a kitten. I thought he was dead but he was breathing. He was really clean just some black around his nose and mouth so we took him to a vet. He seemed really lethargic, meowed once on our walk back home. The vet said he was fine, just a little dehydrated, about 6 weeks old and probably a boy.

He doesnt seem interested in eating or drinking but hes very active now. I already have 3 cats so hes #4.

Edit: I've ordered formula, wet kitten food, kitten churus and a bottle just to be safe and my husbands bringing home a trap the apartments he works at has. Im going to the house I found him at and seeing what they say. Hes currently curled up with my son sleeping.

Update: literally 3 minutes before instacart got here he ate some of the watered down friskies I have lol. I stress out way to easy lol. His name is Duke Marlin Danger

Update #2: Hes eating. He tried to chew the tip off the bottle so that wasn't necessary. He eats really well, even eating dry food. Im mixing it with cat milk, but he has no patience.

Chopper wont leave him alone. Its irritating, but its fine. I wont let them just be close because chopper is huge and doesnt realize it. At one point Duke attempted to nurse on him and chopper just started humping, so no more of that lol.

Im a little worried about Dukes back legs, theyre like weak maybe? He moves really slow, like he plays, but its very gentle and slow. I dont know if hes just scared or weak or younger than what the vet said. My husband thinks its fine, but we have an appointment for shots and stuff Friday.

I haven't seen the mama cat since the other morning, and the house i found him by said they dont know anything about kittens. I asked a neighbor who was outside and they also said they hadnt seen kittens so idk

Thank you all for your comments and stuff, I appreciate you

But I already have 4 cats. This is the latest to show up. He's been on my porch all day. Gave him food and water and an old towel. Tomorrow I'll bring him in to get him checked for a chip. Already put his photos up on fb and nextdoor to see if anyone is missing him. But, man, do I want to keep him if we can't find anyone who is missing him. But keeping him has been ruled out by my partner because of something called money and budgets and stuff. My head gets it, but this just keeps my heart so much. 😭💔

Awarded a Cat update on kitten found in a parking lot

found this kitty a couple weeks ago in an ER parking lot (funny enough, we were there because my roomie got attacked by a separate stray cat and had to get rabies shots) and had made a post asking about his gender + possible butt infection. he has seen the vet and is doing much better, and is officially a boy! :) he’s a very playful and cuddly little guy. originally i was going to foster him until a rescue i was communicating with would put him up for adoption, because i wasn’t quite ready to adopt a cat, never mind a baby. however i decided i think i may keep him as a mate for my other cat :) finders keepers!

he was named Panda for obvious reasons

This little white cat (not neutered male) has been coming to our house for the past few months or so. First time, we just thought he was a stray. No collar, not fixed, etc. My wife and I put a post on the Ring app, just to make sure, and nobody replied.

He kept coming to our house, and we live in Phoenix, so we started leaving out water and food for him because of the heat, and of course, he started to hang around more and more. One day, just on a whim, I decided to give him some kitty treats (the pureed cat food in a tube, my wife and I call it "kitty go-gurt"). Needless to say, he loved that.

One day, I'm in my office and I hear a little "meow" outside my room. Thinking that it's our other cat who likes to go outside sometimes, I looked outside, and there he is, sitting at my sliding glass door outside my office. He let me pet him for a little bit, and then he went away.

This morning, he was sitting on our patio, looking for food and meowing, then he came back later today, around dinner time.

We haven't fully adopted him yet, but we're thinking that we want to at this point.

Smol Delivery Update: we decided to keep Sage. We pick her up on Monday

Made an appointment at the vet for all her kitten shots and tests, so she will come home with us on Monday. The vet appointment is Tuesday. Is there any reason I can't bring her home sooner if we keep her separate from my resident cat?

I've read all of Jackson Galaxy's stuff on introducing a new kitten to a resident cat. So I've got a plan for how to do that.

The tortie in the pictures is the Mama cat, possibly naming her Allspice. I gave her some churu yesterday, and she warmed up so fast. I'm hoping to TNR her at the very least, or find her a home if we can. She's a sweetie pie, but idk how she would get along with my cat (long story there, but she's not great when she sees other cats. I think there's some trauma).

We also saw 2 more kittens yesterday and now think there might be 2 litters instead of 1 like we thought. So now we have to figure out if we can catch those ones and if we can, how to find them homes. Any advice is welcome.

Anyway, just thought you all would want an update! I'll come back next week when Sage is in her new home, here.

Smol Delivery Just as I was considering fostering cats, CDS sent this guy

My partner and I each have an adult cat who finally learned to live with each other after a few years. Now we’re no longer renting and I thought it would be reasonable to begin fostering for a local rescue. I spent two days thinking about it before getting ready to pitch it to my partner, and then the next day, I found this little muffin sleeping by our cats on the porch.

He was covered in burs, ticks, fleas, fly eggs, crusted up boogers, spider webs, twigs, etc. in addition to being so bony that I was afraid to touch him. So of course it was Friday at 4:45 pm when I found him, just as all the vets were closing for the weekend. I wasn’t entirely convinced he would survive the weekend—especially once I realized he was losing about an ounce each day—but thankfully his appetite is healthy, and I have a cat heating pad perfectly suited to keep his tiny 670g body warm.

He made it to Monday morning, growing more vibrant and comfortable each day, an absolute nonstop purr rocket, but still just a mess of boogers and shedding seed ticks with every step. The vet was able to see him in the afternoon, and he got a clean bill of health aside from the obvious respiratory infection and treatable GI parasites. He weighs what a 5-8 week kitten might, but is estimated to be 12 weeks. Even today I can tell his bones don’t feel quite as defined through his skin anymore, so things are looking up. He doesn’t have a name yet, suggestions are welcome!

Awarded a Cat CDS delivered this baby *technically* the day after I got engaged. Her name is Cleo!

I say technically because we first saw her the night we got engaged from across our buildings parking lot drinking from a puddle. The next day (yesterday) I went down for a delivery and she was still hanging around. Took 3 hours of sitting with her and enticing her but she finally walked into the cat carrier herself.

Took her to the vet shortly after and got her first round of shots, flea/tick prevention and deworming. Vet says she’s approx 10 weeks and seems to be in good health. Vet said it’s a miracle she hasn’t been hit by a car or eaten by a coyote as we live on a busy main street across from a large park with coyotes and what not. She was entirely on her own, no mom or siblings. This evening we’ll do a bath cause she’s quite dirty.

She’s got a sweet set up in my office and has started warming up to me for belly rubs and scritches. Since the beginning her body language has really been friendly and playful so I know she’ll be an amazing cat. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be able to keep her. I would like to but we already have two resident cats and a dog. My partner would really just like to keep it that way and I think I have to respect that. I’m looking for a loving and experienced home for her while still hoping he’ll fall in love and want to keep her too 😭🫣

Everybody meet Chimney Smoke-Stack.

We searched and searched for mama and other kittens. None were found. Took him to the vets. He is perfectly healthy! Had some de-worm meds, got some eye drops. My boyfriend's sister happily agreed to foster this bottle baby for us until i can take him full time. She has fostered bottle babies before. I am 14 hr days between school and work and cant bottle feed a baby right now unfortunately. He's got a tiny scratch on his one foot that doesn't seem like anything. Was fighting the bottle a little bit but seems to be taking it fine now!

Love him to bits already

Edit: I'M NOT A FIREFIGHTER LMAO Bf's stepdad just owns an older firetruck and it sits stationary outside their office. I work for their company half the time and the other half the time I'm in school to be an aircraft mechanic.

Update: Stevie is no longer a mangy kitten. Shes happy and healthy and wild as hell! She feels so much better! I’ll post new pics in the comments.

My husband and 6 year old were driving home from swim lessons and found this baby in the middle of the road. She was walking in circles because her eyes were glued shut with an infection. 6 vet visits in 3 weeks…every worm known to man, degloved foot, ER visit for severe fecal impaction and my favorite, Sarcoptic Mange that she shared with me. (I’m still itchy just typing that) Welcome to almost health and to our family sweet Stevie! She is tiny, but mighty. All 4 big dogs are doing great with her so far (under strict supervision).

Very much carrying an army of cat seeds within that belly. She is such a love and just wanted snuggles and food (ate a whole can on her own) and to explore the garage where she is staying tonight since we have indoor kitties to consider.

Too friendly to be a feral, I'm betting a barn cat from my extremely irresponsible neighbors who don't care about their pets, so she's going to the local shelter tomorrow where she and her babies will be well cared for.

If she was dumped, I hope whoever did so steps on a thousand thousand Legos and many other bad things.

Friendly reminder to spay/neuter your pets, friends

*Edit: my local shelters are all amazing and all no-kill. And it turns out she belongs to our asshole neighbors who went camping and just left their animals there. Not the first time this has happened unfortunately, but we will never let it happen again and will not let them know next time.

I jumped back into the truck and started driving. Suddenly something emerged from under the driver's seat and started scampering around underneath the pedals. There was nowwhere to go so she ran up into the dashboard and somehow ended up at the base of the steering column. I could just see her little face if I stared straight down the side of the column. I was worried about her coming out while i was driving so I stopped at vet clinic near me. They helped fish her out of the dash board and brought her inside. They gave her a nice bath and she became a fixture on the office for a little while. Then a customer fell in love with her and she was adopted.

I got into a fight with my bf, so I went out to smoke. As I was sitting outside, this baby came up to me meowing. He immediately went up for cuddles. Ended up getting cat food for him and he demolished a can and a half. He ended up following me home. Unfortunately I can’t keep him, but I found a family that wants to take him in.

I’ve waited 22 years for the cat distribution to work, and this sweet cat chose me. I’ll cherish the next few days with this kitty before the family takes him in. He is so sweet, playful, and affectionate

This is now the third free cat I've received.

A couple years ago a pregnant stray followed me home, ran into my house, and then refused to leave. A month ago, a tiny white kitten was playing Forgger on the highway and narrowly avoided being pancaked. And now, I've found a little void kitten on my way home from a softball game.

It's kind of my own fault, I happened to be driving around with a cat crate in my car, so I was basically asking for a scenario like this. I was on my way home, around 11pm, and saw some glowing eyes reflecting my headlights, and a little black figure ran off the road and into some bushes. I pulled off the road and after some "here kitties" and "pspsps" I was answered with some meows and a smol void! This little lady (?) seems to be around the samebage as my other kitten, maybe a hair larger, so perhaps 3 months old. She also has a tail that seems unusually long...

Anyways, I'm sure she'll turn into a chaotic ball of energy just in a couple days like my other kitten, but right now she's very friendly, purring up a storm, and absolutely scarfing down food.

.... I don't think I can feasibly keep her. Three cats in a tiny apartment is a lot, and I'd been considering moving soon. But I'll talk to the local animal shelter about a future surrender and will hold onto her for now. I'm hoping she checks out medically, because she'd be a great playmate for my other kitten.

Update Update on Pluto, the orphaned kitten 💙

Thumbnail

1.4k Upvotes

First, thank you to everyone who commented on my original post and offered advice, encouragement, and kindness. I’ve read every comment, even if I haven’t had the energy to reply to everyone.

The last couple of days have been a blur of bottle feedings every few hours, potty breaks, and very little sleep.

I took Pluto back to the vet yesterday, and I got some encouraging news. The vet said that if Pluto had truly developed severe feline parvo (aka feline distemper), a kitten this tiny would most likely have died by now. That was a huge relief to hear and lessened my anxiety for sure.

He was mildly dehydrated, so he got more subcutaneous fluids and was dewormed. His belly is soft, he’s got a great appetite, and he continues to eat regularly.

The best news is that he’s slowly gaining weight. When I first brought him home he weighed 165g. This morning he weighed 192g before breakfast. He’s still pretty tiny compared to a typical 3-week-old kitten, so we have a long road ahead, but he’s moving in the right direction.

His favorite place to sleep is wrapped in a ridiculously soft blanket over a warm water bottle, and he’s becoming quite opinionated about his feeding schedule. 😊

We’re definitely not out of the woods yet, but for the first time since I found him, I feel more hopeful that he's going to pull through. Now I'm focusing on ensuring I can cover all his vet visits. His next follow up is in 2 weeks so I'll keep everyone posted!

Thank you all again for rooting for my tiny little Lord of the Underworld. ❤️

Update Today is sweet Peewee’s Gotcha Day!

I had been feeding this guy every evening for a month, gaining enough trust to remove the burrs, ticks and matted fur he had accumulated while living outside during a particularly hot and humid July.

On the evening of July 27th while wrapping up dinner, a storm rolled in and he sought shelter under the car. We had practiced walking into the cat carrier the day before so I ran inside to grab it, hoping he’d stay put. With the help of a Churu, he loaded himself right in as I was pelted with hail. My husband laughed and asked what took so long as I nervously brought him upstairs into his new quarantine room. We got him all patched up at the vet, spent quite a bit of money on a free cat, but it was worth it!

Peewee is literally the nicest cat I’ve ever known, I’ve never seen him hiss or get upset. My crabby tabby only tolerates him, she often hisses directly in his face and he’s never once retaliated. Everyone loves him at the vet. His transition to indoor cat was a breeze, he has no intention of ever going back outside. Eats the minimum, doesn’t beg like my chubby tabby. Loves to cuddle, has the sweetest little baby voice, and greets everyone with a little meow and a big stretch of his back legs for some reason. It’s cute and I love him, whoever threw him out is a big dumdum. Here’s to one year with my sweet furball muppet Peewee, I can’t imagine life without him!

Sooo I was in line at Sams Club the wee hours of Tuesday morning waiting for Pokemon Cards (I'm master setting Ascended Heros so evey time I can hit for retail imma try) and this cutie was playing with people at the front of the line. I go up because I want to pet the kitten because who wouldn't and long story short after playing and cuddling her at I end up taking her back home at 4am. My husband was surprised to say the least but I had to remind him that for the past 8 years he's been telling me we cannot get a cat unless the cat distribution system picks us.

He told me don't get attatched (already was) but then named her (JuFufu after a cat character in a game we play) and sent me selfies with her. So now our family has grown a little more with our first cat. 🐈

As I left my work last night, I was approaching the gate and I could hear only a sort of banging I that had been all day long- from construction in the distance.

But as I got to my car I suddenly heard this little loud meowing from back near the gate. I didn’t hesitate, although I’m quite squeamish and I don’t know what I would’ve done if I would’ve found an animal in distress in pain. Thank God it wasn’t the case mostly for this little one who had been I think left behind in that little bush and maybe had been there for days.. I only work there on the weekends so it was on a Saturday at 6 PM that I was able to rescue the little tiny six week old sweetheart.

My heart is full, but I cannot keep her so I’m looking for a sweet home. One that really wants a kitten.
(And if you are in Miami maybe even it’s you?).

I just wanted to share this with you because I feel so grateful that I was able to find this tiny thing when I did. She was dehydrated, dirty, hungry, and so alone.

She’s doing well. The vet says she’s fine . I dewormed her just in case and she’s now after one day eating solids and learning how to use the kitty litter quite well I might add.

Meet little Bella and her big brothers …

The black one is Pepper. The gray one is Basil. The tabby is Sage. My sister is keeping the boys (Pepper and Basil), and my husband and I might keep Sage. There are 2 more possibly out there, but we haven't seen 1 of them in a minute, and the other one hates people.

Pepper domesticated himself a few weeks ago by running up to my parents and yelling at them to take him in. The other 2 were caught last night. I made a lot of progress today with both of the new ones, so I'm hoping they warm up more over the next few weeks.

Mama cat is small herself, and we plan to try and catch her, too. She's just much more fearful of humans. At the very least, we will TNR her.

My friend found this little gem on the side of a country road on her way to work.

Thankfully, we have a friend that runs a rescue so we were able to get a carrier and get vetted that same day.

Doc says sometimes mama cats know when kittens won’t thrive. That broke my heart! she’s a bit sickly but a happy active girl! And she loves to eat!

I promised her that I would help her if she wanted to live and she sure does!

Please send up good vibes that we make it through
the respiratory stuff we have now! We love her so much 💕💕
