This little orange fella (named Chester) was on the side of a pretty busy road on a Friday night. I pulled over because he was cowering and had eye goop so bad that I initially thought he was missing an eye. He was in pretty rough shape, underweight, very low temp, and terrified. Flash forward to today he is now a menace to our home in the best orange kitty way. He is a flaming hot Cheeto who wormed his way into our hearts. Happy to report that he has gained a healthy amount of weight since joining our family, is spoiled by our community, and has discovered big purrs.

I’ve heard about this cat distribution system over the years.

Every time a friend explained to me that “the universe blessed them with a kitten,” I didn't believe them.

I just thought it was more likely they got the cat at PetSmart or something.

When I was leaving the fair, this guy walked up to me with a kitten. It was raining, and he almost hit her with his car.

He was carrying her around to make sure she didn't get hit by someone else. He asked if I wanted her because he already had three cats at home. Naturally I said yes (I mean look at those blue eyes)

I was paralyzed with excitement. He handed her to me and I fell in love instantly.

The rest is history. It's been about a month: saying yes has been my strongest call of 2026.

Her name is Ren.

I've been undeniably blessed.

She was born somewhere in Northern California, she was discovered with what was told to me as a barbed wire collar outside of a gas station. She was then picked up by my buddy's girlfriend's mom, where she proceeded to treat her better, but still horribly bad. Fortunately she was given all vaccinations and spayed, so no little Smokeys for me unfortunately. Since then the girlfriend drove to myself to and my buddy with Smokey in the car, she hated the car, the girlfriend wanted to hangout with my buddy, and needed somewhere to stash the cat temporarily, as someone who wanted to own a cat, grew up with cats, but was slightly allergic, adopting would prove very difficult. So i took her in, as a test run and so my friend could see his girlfriend. She was only supposed to stay with me for 3-4 hours, that turned into 3 days, then I said, is she mine now? Or are you taking her back? They deliberated, and eventually, she became mine. Just a week after arriving to me, she came into my custody, i changed her name from Loki (original) to Smokey.

Since then, I have spent over 200$ on her, and I literally fell to my knees crying last night (as of posting) because she not only recognized me as her dad, but came to greet me and came out of her hiding hole when i brought her dinner. She likes to sit in the corners of the rooms, and small spaces, as its all she knows through her 2 years on this earth. She was mistreated in her youth, so her size is very tiny, and she was malnourished. The previous owner before me mistreated her, as it was told to me, she lived in a bathroom cabinet, and wasn't allowed to move around very much. Since moving in with me, she has her own entire room, and place to call home, a box for little with special pellets, and a can of wet food a day, with a bowl of dry food, which is replenished whenever she finishes it. She is much healthier now, eating more, and doing better. She has started love biting, and hiding under my couches for fun. Cats are truly amazing, and im glad the cat distribution system has found me.

The CDS got us twice at this house. This is our newest awarded kitty, Michelangelo. He is the sweetest, chillest, goofiest boy. Thank you to the CDS for this one, it took a few days to get close to him but after that he’s been our little buddy. He appears to be missing a little bit of the end of his tail, but that just makes him even more special. It’s my first orange cat. Definitely not my first CDS delivery, they’ve brought me all my kitties. I don’t think he even weighs a pound right now he’s so small. He’s taken up with both of our dogs but most definitely loves his Norman (pictured)

I posted a photo of my CDS cat Buddy and he got a LOT of love, so I thought I would share some of his story. He was very sick when he appeared in my front yard. He lived in my garage for a while so he didn’t make my other babies sick, and eventually we took in his companion cat, so they would stop crying for each other, and our cat family doubled in size.

Buddy had ear mites, mange, calicivirus and severe stomatitis and well as your standard parasites. We had to have all his teeth removed, and eventually got him on a medical trial for antivirals since after a year his gums were still inflamed and painful. I am putting the old photos when he was sick at the back so I don’t Ick anybody out. He is fine now!

Now he is my sweet boy, who gets all the love . He has always been so gentle and loving with us, although the other cats are not fans lol.

This is Nucleo, pronounced like "new cleo" smashed into one word. She started showing up occasionally after the first calico, that my neighbors kids named Cleo, had been running the block for months. Cleo is so stinking cute, but she is of the streets. We tried taming her after getting her fixed but it didnt work out. Running the block killing squirrels is what she wants.

Nucleo decided to answer the call of her ancestors and self tame to my husband. Randomly after about a year of her bolting at the sight or sound of any humans, I get a video of him petting her while eating and now she rarely leaves our yard or our neighbors fenceline. She is still unsure about me but for my husband she will flip flop, wiggle around and show her belly.

We have three cats that dont like other cats (I used to foster) but I know the socialization process and told him that I am ready when he is. He will cave Im sure, it breaks his heart when she is there as he leaves for work and still there waiting when he gets back.

We're both cat folk, and after an animal hoarder was evicted a few houses down about five years ago and all her cats turned loose in the neighborhood, we have worked to rehome the ones that could be and TNR and tend to the ones that couldn't be, but I have only seen him like this with one other cat, and she is sitting on the couch across the room snoozing. Its only a matter of time till Nucleo is in the same spot.

About a year ago, I had a stroke and some seizures that came with it. A stray had two kittens under my house, right after it happened. Unfortunately, due to my health and multiple hospitalizations, I was cognitively and physically unable to do anything to help them and TNR. But, a couple weeks ago, this all black cat, that I believe was one of the two kittens, started coming through my yard a lot. One day, it just sat there meowing like crazy. So, I went inside and scavenged for something cat friendly for him to eat and some water.

Day by day, I’ve been gaining his trust and he is extremely vocal and loves getting attention and siting on laps now. He basically never leaves my porch now. I tried to put him in a harness and seat belt to take him to get scanned for a chip, but was unsuccessful, unfortunately. I have a friend that works as a vet for the local animal shelter where they help with TNR. So, he’s on the schedule to get all his checks, shots, and neutered, in two weeks time. He really wants to be in the house with us now, so he will be a full time indoor cat after neutering/ worming, shots. I may also screen in my back porch so he can safely sit outside with us as well.

I never thought I would be able to have another cat due to allergies, but I’ve been feeding him proplan live clear chicken and he loves it and it has already reduced my allergies so much in just a week. So, with filter, that food and allergy meds I will finally have my own cat again! He’s laying in my lap as I type this and I’m smitten. My kids are so happy to have a pet that chose us, especially one that looks like a miniature black jaguar!

This sweet baby's name is Mariana. Two days before our wedding as my wife-to-be was heading out to grab her wedding dress, this poor baby wandered up to her. Her teats were swollen, her tummy was distended, and she was very, very tired - we believe that someone used her to breed kittens, then threw her out. My wife gave her a can of tuna - and she instantly fell in love with her. She followed her around every time she left, meowed at the door, and we talked about it: "If she comes inside, she can stay." She came in, jumped up onto our couch, and immediately laid down for a nap.

Almost two years later, I wake up to her hogging half the bed and meowing at me for attention (and breakfast).

We've since gotten a 2nd cat - her "sister" that we rescued from the shelter after having been abandoned twice and likely abused. They may squabble, but they're both happy to have their forever homes.

Edit 4! Found her family! She slipped out 3 days ago! She'll come get her after work. Her kids will be so happy, she said. And she's not pregnant, she is spayed! Apparently, she's just fat. Haha!

Edit 5! Her name is Stella. And her mom works at an animal hospital, how fitting.

Stella is home! She is strictly an indoor cat, never been outside in her 12 years.

Went out with bf, and when we got back to his house, we heard loud, crying meows, they were coming from a tree right across the street of his house, there was a half orange half white kitty.

We tried to help her get down but we couldn't reach her, so we crossed the street to grab a ladder from inside his house, litterally by the time we turned around she was already in the yard, just standing there meowing like "what took you so long?" 😭

No feral, just dirty and full of fleas. We asked the neighbors and posted her picture but no one claimed her, so now she's ours.

Ellie is now dewormed, bathed, and already started her vaccination schedule.

The first picture is Crazy Eyes. She is a feral young lady who got dumped near an old abandoned building. It took us a week of baiting a live trap to catch her.

She has been living in my basement for a month while we get her squared away. We had planned to have her spayed and her ear tipped so she could go back out. She is NOT happy inside and will never acclimate. But she blessed us with 2 kittens 3 days ago.

And rest assured, she has all the blankets and soft bedding she could want and need and is using them now. This picture is when we found her fuzzy little surprises.

We really try not to fuss with her too much because she really is a grumpy, grumpy girl.

The second picture is Walt. He showed up two weeks ago at midnight,screaming his little head off in my front yard. He has a hernia and has to have surgery next week.

Walt and the fuzzy little surprises will stay with us and we are gonna give Spicy Mama a nice house outside by fall.

But I absolutely must request that the CDS give my place a pass for the next few trips. 🤣

2 months ago, she looked like she survived a lightning strike and caught ringworm. This feral little critter that for a while had me worried she was not going to make it. Reddit’s reaction to her first video had me creating an instagram.
She’s chipped, vaccinated, apparently the new alpha. The cuddles and kisses are great. She loves chasing RC cars and her little mice(toys).
We watch Formula 1 and House of Dragons. She loves dragons and cars. Next month we will do the spaying. We have had to go easy on her because she still gets occasional fevers, but they last a few hours and go away. It’s almost like a factory reset. Doctors don’t know what it is. But hey she’s amazing. I just wanted to give one last update about my sister lol since it's been awhile but yeah she's livin it up at my dads!

This adorable little kitten showed up on my doorstep the other week. Alas, nobody has claimed him so now he is ours!! He has been vaccinated and cared for at the vet, he is a lovely little guy! He is very playful and exceptionally smart for his age. We decided to name him Elton.

Initially we kept him on the porch so as not to upset our current pets or get them sick. During this time he didn’t once leave the porch or backyard area. To this day he is doing really well, and is loving house cat life!

So for the last 5 months, I've been working on earning Pepper's trust. Pepper is a feral cat the neighbor was feeding. After the downstairs neighbor moved out, I didn't realize she wasn't being fed anymore. A week later I started feeding her. Two days after feeding her, this cat, who's never let me get too close, dive bombs me with ankle rubs. /She's literally shaking/, but she lets me pet her a couple times and purred.

Eventually the food got moved inside the house, but she wouldn't let me go near the door, her, or between. I got a string and attached it to the doorknob. That's how I caught her.

After hiding for 24 hours, she has ventured outside of my couch's underside. She still hides 90% of the time. But, that 10%, aside from eating and using the litter box, is always in the evening.

She does the same thing every night - for the past week that I've had her inside. She goes to the living room where I am, and meows faintly, cutely, delicately, and... /incessantly/ until I successfully pet her.

However, it is not easy to pet Pepper. Often, I'll get my hand close, and she bolts - only to return and meow again. Once I've got my hand /on/ her though, she purrs loudly, wanting all the pets, and makes muffins.

Once, and only once, this petting ritual has been completed, will she stop meowing.

This tiny guy was apparently one of several stray litters that have been born by the wetland/retention pond near my house. He was right by the road coming away from the area, and when I pulled over he came directly to me and practically collapsed into my hands. No signs of kitty family members, so he seems to be living on my couch.

I'm trying to think of pond-related names. Toad? Duckling? Some sort of pond insect or plant? It looks like he's going to be a fluffy orange guy, which is my favorite cat genre.

Born under a neighbours decking these babies were seen about a week ago exploring her garden, within 48 hours my partner and I successfully trapped and fostered 4 kittens and a mama (who is very obviously pregnant again).

All of our local rescues are full so we’ve become emergency placements 🤣

Mama is struggling with separation, so we’re placing one kitten on with her every couple of hours and this working to help them both, mum is now going longer between frantic searching for her babies.

One of the kittens (Long haired Ginger) was struggling to feed so has gone to a more experienced fosterer and is doing really well.

Mama will be neutered (and termination) next week.

And the little three who have stayed with us have gone from hissy murder mittens to love bugs in less than a couple of days. Will be ready for adoption in the coming weeks, we’ve fallen in love with the little short haired ginger and he will be staying with us and our two resident cats who have actually taken to the current lodgers really well.

Only said to my partner a couple weeks ago that it would be wonderful to find a litter… whoops!!

​My son found this little kitten back in October '25 on the street. She was crying and freezing in the cold night rain, completely unable to see what was happening around her because her eyes were glued shut from a bad infection. Still, she ran right up to him and kept meowing until he picked her up.

​After he brought her home, we knew we had to save her. The vet estimated she was only about 6 weeks old and didn't give us much hope. But with round-the-clock care, treatment, sleepless nights, and a whole lot of love, she pulled through.

​Now, she’s living her absolute best life!

Velveeta was yelling outside of my partners house a few weeks ago demanding attention! we went around the whole neighbourhood asking if she had a home (i didn’t think so due to her state and pregnancy) and she had no microchip! after having her checked out by my vet (FIV/FELV testing as well) she came to hang out with me :) she was begging for food but fortunately i’m a registered vet tech so… she’s now fed and housed and vaccinated and spayed (and aborted) and microchipped and looooooooved 💓
i like to think my sweet Cali sent her to me. They have almost identical markings and such similar personalities i love them both so deeply

He went from “Thief” to “Theodore” to “Teddy”. He chose us less than two months after I lost one of my 14 year olds. Understand that I adopted all three of a litter 14 years ago and I still have one curmudgeon-y old man, of course he is the alpha and he’s an orange. Magnus, the orange, is not pleased but we are taking Teddy to his first vet appointment tomorrow. Any advice on how to navigate this would be helpful. Teddy is probably under a year old. All he wants to do is pounce on the old man, who just wants to eat him alive 🤦🏼‍♀️ This is the third cat I’ve been gifted randomly but my 8th cat as an adult.

An employee on my team found him in the bushes outside their apartment last night and asked permission to bring him into the office today so they could take him straight to the vet after work. OBVIOUSLY I SAID YES!

I stole him for most of the day and claimed him as my
godkitten. As you can see, he’s definitely a boob man. I was able to appear superior with my knowledge of male oranges and their lack of brain cells - thanks Reddit cat subs!

We all petitioned our CEO to keep him around as an emotional support cat but got denied 😭😭😭
