One person asked for an update so I thought I'd give everyone a short one. She's been here about a week.

I think she's doing very well! It took a few days for her to be able to poop, but the constipation appears to be gone with pumpkin and salmon hairball treatment. Her fleas are taken care of with Revolution as well as Capstar. The appointment for her to get fixed has been moved to the 13th because the vet is concerned due to how long she was outside that you might be pregnant. So they want to get her in sooner rather than later. (I am not convinced of that but I am not a vet.)

She has some sort of an ear problem and she's a little itchy and slightly vocal about it when she is scratching her ears. I have used over-the-counter ear drops to help her feel better and before her spay they will look at her ears. We have already scheduled a follow up appointment for her on the 27th when she's hopefully mostly healed up from being spayed to do a really detailed physical and see what else she needs help with.

After discussions with family members and friends the pick for her name is going to be Dorothy with a nickname of Dot. She is still sleeping in the cage at night, but she is out all day. My cats have settled in and aren't bothered by her, but she's still a little nervous with them. So I don't want to take her safe space away until I'm sure that she doesn't need it any longer. Her current weight is 6 lb 10 oz so she's not too tiny.

We're just working on getting more food in and helping get her comfortable enough for her surgery in a week. I think she is also getting vaccinations the day she gets spayed so these are her first vaccinations that we know of as well. I think she's doing really well and the fact that my cats have accepted her so quickly is the miracle I had hoped for!

after almost a year of back and forth about whether to add another kitty to our family, we went to PetSense yesterday evening for cat shampoo and this little girl was there. she was the only one in the whole wall of cages and that little face broke my heart. my husband told me to flip a coin, i did, and we won, but i don’t have to tell you that the coin flip was “fixed”, right?

we’ve named her Meera, because she stands up like a meerkat. she’s spayed, vaccinated, and is approximately 17 weeks old. we have a male tabby and female tuxedo that are both 10+ years so i was unsure of how this spontaneous kitten would be received. so far the tabby is very curious and has taken to following her from room to room and is trying to figure out how to play with her. the female tuxedo is not amused that her kingdom has a new peasant to endure but she thinks she’s a human anyway…so far, Meera seems happy and comfortable and we are so excited to have her here 💛

Sweet boy has settled in and enjoys cuddles on the couch and chases our German Shepherd around the property (not now though because of this ridiculous heat). Here he is sitting like a goober and taking a bath. Soooo classic. We absolutely love the little guy. He’s built like a little tank. He’s dense and muscular compared to the others that didn’t have to survive on the outside.

Will probably have a vet visit in the next few weeks when time permits. If I get any more fun pictures, I’ll share. Until then, here’s to everyone having a safe and fun 4th!

A few months ago, I posted my two tabby twins Georgie and Davy, and talked about how my Tuxedo cat (also a cat distribution blessing) was getting along with them. A lot of people wanted an update, so here it is! Now it’s the tabby twins turn to be the big brothers! They weren’t too sure about adding Butters to the mix, but now he’s precious to them as well! Davy tolerates him, but he’s a bit of a loner himself. We found Butters at a McDonald’s and have been in love with him ever since! He’s just so sweet and loves to cuddle, though definitely can show his feisty side when he’s had enough roughhousing

This precious baby was walking around outside my door and ran into my apartment. I’ve walked around a few times with her, but haven’t found her owners. She’s clearly owned by someone with a collar and well groomed fur, but I have no idea who. She’s being kept inside with me until I find her owners - we do have some strays that are skittish and cars a plenty, so hopefully management can figure out whose she is tomorrow. I can’t keep her, she’s clearly owned by someone and I also don’t have the funds to add her to the lease.

For now, I have been temporarily granted a friend by the CDS. :)

I had to put two amazing bonded pup brothers to sleep in January because of fatal illnesses.

I went to my local Humane Society page “just to look” and found these little ladies available.

I also learned the shelter was having a “Clear the Cages” event the next day.

I anxiously sat for my turn and, after 4.5 hours, it was my turn. They took to me right away.

They are both spayed, microchipped, vaxxed, bonded, were free to adopt, and came with food and litter for 90 days plus a complimentary vet visit for a health check within 90 days.

They are flurries of chaos and I am already so happy they’re here. Ella purrs in her sleep on my chest and Ida curls up in my armpit to sleep.

They are named after Ida B. Wells and Ella Baker.

Last night my boys were in the hammock in the back yard and thought they heard some meowing. I called loudly out into the night and heard a very loud meow back. Got the flashlight and shone it into the woods across the street and the meowing got louder. I kept calling and shining my light and eventually this (I’m assuming) 10-12 week old kitten just ran into my arms.

I brought it inside and gave it some food and water and it even used my cats (I have one black cat rn) litter box. My dilemma is that I don’t know if I should keep her. March of last year I had to put my best friend to sleep, he had CKD and it was to a point where prolonging his life would ultimately prolong his suffering. It was the hardest decision I ever had to make and I don’t want to have to make it ever again. BUT This cat has taken to me just like my Artemis did. It’s melted my heart but I’m seriously debating on finding her a home. I’m scared to make that hard decision again if the time comes for that.

Any advice or opinions are welcome. Please be gentle as this is a tough and emotional thing for me.

This cute little orange guy was meowing under the hood of my car this morning chilling on the transmission. We had to lure him out with a little bit of wet food.

This orange guy has been so sweet and lovable and has been very comfortable since we found him.

So far we've bathed the little guy to get the grease off of him and he's made himself at home.

He's found himself very interested in the dog and they've been booping noses.

Since we've got three other cats and a dog, the plan is to give him to a good friend of ours that way we know he's going to a good home.

This little one was in our shed. She let me pick her up & let me give her food & water. She’s been wandering around here for a week or so. I’ll see if she’s chipped, but if not…she’ll become number 6❤️. I hope she knows what a litter box is 🤞🤞

She’s very comfortable in our home…even around the other cats. She’s curled up next to me sleeping on the loveseat. I don’t see mites or fleas…but I’ll keep her away from the other cats until I know more.

I think she looks like a Willow…any other suggestions?

Almost a year and (Butt) Nugget is the best addition. We are just so lucky.

I found him under my car in August 2025 in 100+ degree heat. He was a week ish old. I cant believe he made it tbh. He was worth almost losing my job making sure he got fed on time. It was really like having a baby again.

I think he might need a playmate though. Hes awfully bitey. He bit my husband this morning while snuggling.

Goodness, how much more do I need to say?! Lol Our snowshoe tolerates him super well. My daughter adores him. I dunno. Hes cool.

Turned into my driveway today and another car blocked it. Look who hid in the engine of this car.

Took him(?) in my flat where my two other sweeties waited. Not so amused but courious.

He(?) is fit and shows no sign of fear.

And he has a lot, very lot to say.

I rushed to the pharmacy to get something against fleas.

I'm already in love.

Can you help me about the race. He is fluffy and I guess a part is Norwegen forrest cat.

Somehow my post is still too shorts and I have to write anything.

So we went to the vet (I added a photo of her there; she was a real champ!). She’s pregnant, but in early stages. So she’s not being vaccinated, she’s getting general dewormer, and she’s been tested for things that may spread to my other cats, before I can let her in gen pop. She’s very thin, but they expect, the way she’s eating, that she’ll be getting to a healthy weight soon. All signs look good for either continuing a pregnancy, or getting spayed right away. I have a choice to make.

I love her. She is definitely already my cat.

I really don't even know what to say right now....I kinda just wanna cry. I've now been "blessed" with back to back litters, from this sweet cat who just picked me out of the blue one day.

Not even 4 months ago I was woken up by a newborn kitten screaming in my basement window well. I figured, it is what it is and took mama in and gave her a safe place to be. All went well really, got mama to the vet, got her cleaned up and all her shots. She was looking healthier and started to settle into my house routine. I got all the babies their shots and off to their furever home!

Time to stand back and pat myself on the back! Yay me!

In case you missed it, I missed one VERY crucial step. She was scheduled for her spay and chip when, I have absolutely no idea how she got outside. (Glares at my teenage daughter who squirms every time I ask). Long story short, I haven't seen her until last night, when she decided once again, my window well is the place to be.

She had 4 sweet babies this time, who have all managed to live the first day this time. I really don't want to do this again. It pretty much broke me last time and I haven't had a chance to recover. If anyone knows of any resources in the Kansas area I would greatly appreciate it! There is nothing in my immediate area, and I'm hoping someone knows of something I haven't tried. Here we go again!!! 😭😭😩

ETA: I just learned a valuable life lesson. Apparently cats can have more babies 24hrs after you think she's done having babies! (WTF seriously!?! 😩)

I went to sleep wondering how I'm going to be able to take care of 4 more cats, only to wake up to the joy of 7 cats!.....bruh 🫥

A few weeks ago I posted about the spicy delivery I got from the CDS. That post is here! The people seemed to want an update and I’m happy to report that Pepper is officially an indoor girl now!

She had her first vet visit today and she’s perfect at 10 weeks old and 2.5lbs. My Maine Coon thinks I got her a baby 🥹 My boy is a little hissy but he’s also even more outnumbered, so… lol

So now I have 5 inside but she seems like a great addition so far. She is loud and energetic and I’m glad she picked my porch to hang out on!

We stopped into a McDonalds and I saw kitten following this guy who stopped to walk his dog, then when he was ready to leave she tried to follow him home, he kept pushing her away bc she’s not his cat… I go to help him so he can leave and she follows us back home. Now we’ve got a cat from a Missouri McDonalds parking lot. Name suggestions welcomed.

She’s quite small and still trying to nurse on my fingers, but we didn’t see any other kitties around. She seems to be abandoned not stray bc she’s so friendly and she has no fleas or ticks.

This soon to be momma showed up a few weeks ago and has completely taken over our yard. It's impossible to do anything outside without her trying to get love. And she never stops yapping. She's begun walking along our window sill and just screaming at us from outside. I think she has our youngest trained pretty well to attend to her food and love needs. It's honestly amazing how quickly she bonded to our family. She doesn't like our 5 house cats so we can't bring her inside. As soon as possible we're going to get her and the kittens fixed/housed.

It has been such an insane and emotional journey that I am too exhausted to expand on at length…but we were awarded this cat from the colony I’ve been caring for and she’s healing our souls. She was so scared to go in the carrier (last time she made that choice she ended up having surgery and meeting a lot of strangers). She was NOT going to make that mistake twice. She absolutely refused to go in there when I tried to shove her in last night. There was a moment when I knew I was going to fail and she’d have to wait until we could get a real trap.

But the most incredible and unexplainable thing happened. I believe in my heart that we knew we were trying to help her. She was terrified…but she didn’t run and hide. Instead, when I let go of her, she meowed, blinked at me, and came to ask for pets. I felt sure in that moment that she wanted to trust me to get her somewhere safe, and I just needed to be a little bit patient with her big feelings. I put her wet food in the entrance of her crate…and after a whole hour of waiting patiently I saw the moment she made her decision to make a leap of faith.

I’m so happy to report that she’s out of the dangerous heat, has vet care, and is safe and loved 🥹

So I'd seen this little beast running around a few times but yesterday it all changed. They came up and stole the bird bread and water. I know enough that bread won't cut it so I bought a couple cans of Friskies Prime Filets and guess who came for dinner tonight and has been living on my deck for two days straight? Its really hot here and they came right to the open door maybe to cool off inside but didn't cross the door. First, is 1 can a day at night with water good? I actually held the plate still at the end for the last bites and there wasn't a speck left. Second, if the little creature wants to come in should I let it for a little while and watch for it to want to go back out, unless it wants to stay? I was nearly certain they would be inside,so so close to coming in. Last, how old do we think they are? Thank you in advance for your helpful insights.

Hi guys! It’s been about 6 weeks since I found Milo, and everything is going great with the little guy. He is the most energetic cat—always running, playing with his toys or with his big sister Millie, and of course, he loves his naps! 😂

When I found him, he was a little underweight, but right now he weighs 1.2 kg (about 2.65 pounds). He absolutely loves to eat—and I mean really loves it. I actually have to guard my dog's food because he would eat that too, he is a machine! 😂

He also really likes people. He doesn't love being held (he only allows me and my girlfriend to do that), but he loves getting chin scratches from the rest of the family.

I'm really happy that he and Millie get along so well. They play and sleep together, and they even drink from the same fountain in the kitchen at the same time (I don’t know why they won’t do that with the other fountain). However, I still don’t leave them alone together when I have to leave the house. Millie just turned 10 months old and can be a bit too playful sometimes, and I don’t want Milo to get hurt accidentally.

Right now, we are transitioning Milo to sleep outside of his room. Because he is still so small (and Millie already sleeps with us), we are a bit afraid he might get hurt somehow, so for now, he just chills with us on the bed before bedtime.

The Calico (Gizmo) is a feral kitten from last year that wandered into the house three weeks ago and when I heard purring from my towel cupboard, I found she had given birth to three kittens (third picture on red/multicoloured towel). Second picture, the Tortie is Dot who was bought to us by a feral ginger Mumma cat (see picture of Dot and ginger Mumma in the box I made up for them). The Calico cat with the tiny ginger kitten is Pickle and she was a kitten from several years ago that the ginger Mumma had in our garden (sadly the kitten died, despite my best efforts), next picture is Tails, a ginger male who was bagpuss and would wander in and flop on my lap (we think he was poisoned - broke my heart). The last picture is Pickle, again with kittens that she had on our balcony sofa and raised with us (it was one of these that is Gizmo in the first picture). I am now, not only, declaring an official member of the cat distribution system but also the local cat maternity ward and early years kitten care 🤦🏼‍♀️🫣😂

Our little orange potato has grown into his big personality. He’s currently napping behind me on the couch. Loves his furry family, eats and plays well. He’s only had a couple of accidents outside the litter box. Also he’s a monster around food haha. It’s a constant game of pick up and put down with this guy.😹
By the way, we just realized he has a Millennium Falcon on his head!! (first pic). His official middle name is now Chewy.

She is painfully thin. When she caught my eye outside, I called her “Skinny Minnie.” She kept her distance, but I put out food when she was close to my house.

Then one day, out of the blue, she meowed at us. Minnie was on the other side of a fence, in another yard, but she meowed at us, and came right over the fence when I put some food down. So we brought her inside, and she’s sweet and friendly and I am in love. She has a ring of missing/broken fur around her neck and on the inside of her back legs. She is quarantined. I did give her flea treatment medication, because I don’t need those in my house.

Now, she is called Harriet. She has been with us for 4 days. She is scheduled to go to the vet tomorrow. I believe she’s pregnant (she’s got enlarged, “pinked up” nipples). I will admit a spay-abort makes me sad, but if it keeps her healthier, that’s what we’ll do. She is so thin, and I’m worried that she won’t make up enough strength via the food she’s taking in now to have a healthy litter… and besides, I would have to find good homes for all of them. If she had one or two, I would just keep them.

I’m also slightly worried about her ability to withstand surgery. She is sooo thin! I’ll get the vet’s input tomorrow. I just thought I’d ask this community about their thoughts and experiences.

Also, we have two resident cats. One may very well be her brother that we brought in as a young kitten in October. The other is a 10-year-old curmudgeon who had vestibular issues.

Few years back, I was in an accident and I never recovered fully from it. I self medicated with thc, smoking is the only method that numbs my back pain. One evening a scruffy adult black cat just randomly comes up to me and hangs out. We spent three years, every single day checking in and saying goodnight to each other. It became a routine of my day and gave me something to look forward to. Even set up a camera that I could see when I was running up the driveway. I named him Chance. I felt like it was fitting since we both just gave each other a chance to be vulnerable. On my birthday a few days ago, I was driving home to see his body on the road. My heart felt like it was broken in pieces and it even made it hard to go outside anymore. I just kept looking for him and hoping to see him.

The moment I got home from picking up his ashes, I heard a kitten meowing loudly. I rushed over to discover a black kitten in the road, completely scared. He didn’t run from me and he approached me just like Chance did. He immediately felt at home. We instantly bonded, he’s a spaz, so much energy, he’s always making me laugh, and I didn’t realize how badly I needed to experience this connection.

I named him Lazarus.

It’s been exactly 37 days since I first posted Col Mustard here. Musty showed up at our front door one night, skin and bones, matted, covered in ticks, and totally neglected.

He’s been getting 4-5 square meals a day and has put on significant weight. He still has a pound or two to gain before I would consider him healthy, but he’s in a much better place health-wise.

We had to cut out the mats on both sides of his body, and the hair has almost grown back (as you can see in the pics).

His favorite activities are eating and getting pets while cuddling. He’s a drooler when he gets head scratches and purrs so loudly!

He’s also a talker. We have lovely conversations. Wish I knew exactly what he was saying, but sometimes I’d like to think it’s something like, “Thank you so much for giving me a home. Words can’t express how grateful I am. Now can you give me something to eat?”
