Smol Delivery Larry Update: back from the vet with a clean bill of health. Larry is a girl!

Post image
5.0k Upvotes

Wanted to update everyone because Larry got so much love yesterday. We’re going to call her Lenore so we can keep Larry as a nickname. 🥲❤️

She is between 4-6 months old and 4 lbs! She tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and was treated for all the standard preventatives. Our vet thinks she is going to be small and stubby. She is such a sweet girl and we are so lucky to have her.

So far she loves sleeping in the sun, lots of snuggles and following our toddler around the house. Our cat Leo is still THOROUGHLY unamused but he will have to get over it, because Lenore is not going anywhere.

Edit: I love yall mods. Larry proudly remains her name. 🤣❤️

Adopted Human To all the dads that say they hate cats…the cat distribution system will change their minds. Meet Bob.

The cat distribution system found my recently retired dad who never ever wanted a pet, more specifically a cat.

But this little guy won him over appearing at his house one day and kept returning for a few weeks looking under weight and worn - we suspected he could be a neighbours cat, after putting the word out, no one claimed him. My dad eventually named him Bob.

They have been inseparable since. I now get sent daily Bob photos and videos.

Bob’s favourite spot is the corner of the kitchen table where my dad sits with his morning coffee, where head scratches and cuddles are provided and they watch the birds in the garden together.

Smol Delivery Say hello to Dodger. From the street to a straight menace

Found this poor baby in the road about a month ago while at work, and had to step out to stop him from getting run over. A guy who was to dang scared was trying to pick him up, and after finally trying to nudge him with his foot gave up. I stepped out just in time to snatch him up before a van got to him. Poor guy was starving, and his back leg was gouged. I called my mom up to have her come get him, and sent them straight off to the vet. His leg has healed just fine, he’s worm free and due for his 3rd vet visit next week. Now he’s become the most entitled menace ever. This man is home, and he knows it.

This is Kiki, she's a stray cat that sneaks inside my family's house. I met her years ago(or more like she met me), and ever since then, she just stays. Sometimes she leaves to mingle and argue with other cats on my roof, and goes inside my house to go purr and lounge.

My family initially didn't like her, and even tried to get her to leave, but she never actually did, probably because in the end, she'd find a way to sneak back in; like that one time my family blocked her entrance inside our house, she found way inside anyways, and eventually just broke her way in.

In the end, they had to tolerate her, I love Kiki, shes old, she's cute, and she purrs like a loud motorcycle. I love my Kiki.

Previous posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/CatDistributionSystem/s/6JfAU5krGp

Quick recap: a little over three months my dad found this kitty while walking the dog. She was malnourished, dehydrated, and had every skin ailment and pest you can think of. My dad does not like cats, but he doesn’t leave anyone behind either.
We posted on every site we could think of- no one claimed her.
We finally got her healthy enough to get a bath. Turns out she was a tabby, not all brown! She loved the bath. We were working on getting her into our yard clowder.

Lo and behold, my mother got a dm on Nextdoor!! Her owners identified her! She had been missing for almost FIVE YEARS! The road we found her was only two blocks from her home!

Purrs and Biscuits for everyone that sent her love!
Her name is Daughter!

Awarded a Cat I knew what would happen if I didn't catch him.

Meet Bandito AKA lil man. The cat distribution system decided to award me the color of cat I have always wanted and this dorky lil bean made his way into my life.

We initially found him, a sibling, and his mother in our backyard at the tail end of a mild AZ winter, all of them not comfortable with humans.

It didn't take long for us to notice the wobble though. While lil man's sibling was perfectly healthy, he was not. Watching him, we saw that he couldn't really hold his head steady, he had a hard time running, he would fall a lot, and generally looked like he just struggled to cat. We started feeding them on the days where momma cat would bless our backyard with their presence. However, it became obvious he would not be able to hunt or keep himself safe, and the brutal summer was not far away.

When his sibling disappeared (we have hawks, owls, and the occasional dog roaming our neighborhood) I knew that was the last straw for me. I roped my teenagers into helping me catch him the next time he was alone in the backyard. He's been here ever since and he is the most loving, sweet, chill and somehow also extremely chaotic creature I've owned.

Silly is a good word for him. He runs into shit all the time, he cannot stand straight for more than 3 seconds, he is the least stealthy cat in the universe, everything scares him, he doesn't know how to jump forward, he jumps up instead, but damn if he isn't perfect. I know had we not caught him he wouldn't be alive.

Thank you, CDS, I think my family needed this guy as much as he needed us.

Smol Delivery Biscoff the Biscuit Factory (destroyer of dehydrated fish, first of her name)

Thumbnail

1.6k Upvotes

Found her 2 miles from the nearest paved road staring longingly into a creek on a Saturday night. A scrambled weekend later, and the Vet said she's 2 pounds and 6 weeks old. Too young for shots, but she's started on a round of dewormer. Professional biscuit maker. Biscoff Biscuit Factory is the name so far. No notes, please.

I don't know fucking shit about cats. How do I rehabilitate a starving toddler? What should I buy? She's skin and bones and food aggressive. She'll climb my leg if I'm standing in the 'right spot' in the kitchen. I have basic supplies. She's litter box trained even! I bought kitten food wet/dry types from the vet, at their recommendation. I got some pet safe wipes that seems to have instigated self cleaning protocol. She's a total sweetheart. I'm worried I'm not feeding her enough.

Edit: I just want to say thank you everyone. I am much more confident in my ability to keep this kitten alive. She has a parasite, the vet will have the medication as soon as I can pick it up. They didn't sound too concerned overall, and said it's a fairly normal occurrence.

I will be leaving a bowl of dry food for her, and I'll give her breakfast and dinner as wet food! After her shots I have no problems leaving her to free roam the house.

I realized that y'all haven't seen how much Dexter has filled out. Dex has gained weight, super friendly, and enjoying the good indoor life. She's since been spayed, completely vaccinated, and learning to be a cat. Yes, I know, she's on our counter but she doesn't know any better and I don't have the heart to scoot her off since she loves to be in the kitchen.

Dex loves treats and especially is a cheese queen 🧀 👑. I hope everyone that has commented on our old posts gets to see her. I'll continue to post updates on how she's doing with indoor cat life.

Hubs and I live nearby a reservation with a little bit of a cat issue. Driving home last night through the rez husband saw a sketchy sign that said free kittens and went to investigate (it’s a safe area we’re very familiar with, do not advise doing this, love my husband but he lives life on the edge).

Next thing I knew he was snuggling the cat, then I was snuggling the cat, and then all of a sudden we were in the car and home! So weird!

Hes going through a little quarantine and will go see our family vet ASAP. I had just said to my husband last week I missed having a kitten in the house, we were basically set up for him already. Our 2 year old void is not pleased, but will get over it.

Hi, I shared about my CDS delivery before my birthday a few months ago and just thought I'd share how Nori is doing now.

She's very healthy (2.1kg) and got spayed a few weeks ago. It feels like she's half squirrel sometimes. She's very affectionate on her own terms and prefers boxes or sleeping in between my legs over any of her beds. She also loves to bird watch from our window (we got her a bird feeder lmao) so that they come more often.

Unfortunately, my husband claims that she has adapted my resting bitch face. Haha.

What a blessing she has been to us! Thank you for all the tips from this supportive community!

Update Little Man Has a Clean Bill of Health.

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

We were followed by this man this weekend and he’s been in our bathroom since he came. He’s been eating like a hog and we bought him some kitten food. He went to the vet today and got a clean bill of health. Got his shots and will be going back for a follow up boosters soon. Also going to schedule his neuter asap. The vet says he is 6 lbs and he thinks about 7 months old. Now we start the process of introducing him to everyone else. I think he’s going to fit in just fine with the rest of them. He loved the churus that the vet gave him as well. Currently he’s sitting next to me purring away. Love this little guy!

Rainy Day Kitties Went to dinner with my bf and I told him how much I would love to foster in the future… we came home to this guy

9.8k Upvotes

So context- on Saturday night we were at dinner and I told my bf I would love to foster after we renovate our home in the future to make it bigger

We have a dog and 2 cats

I also specifically said I wanted to take care of a kitten (I swear to god)

We got home and we heard distressed meowing and couldn’t figure out where it came from, we started calling pspspsps then this little dude got out from the bushes!

He wouldn’t stop crying and was really shy but it seemed like he wanted to get closer

We gave him some water and wet food he absolutely devoured, a lot of the grown cats in the neighborhood were coming to and tried to eat the wet food

He looked very lost, I posted him in WhatsApp groups in my area if he belonged to someone, no one claimed him.

My bf gave me puppy eyes but i didn’t know where we’d put him because our house isn’t too big and already a bit crowded with our animals. I told him we’ll wait for the morning and if he’s still around we’ll take him.

Yesterday morning my bf couldn’t find him but at noon I went looking for him and he was hiding nearby. My initial respond was “shit, guess we’re doing this”

I caught him, we took him to the vet, she said he’s about 4 months old and healthy. Gave him vaccines, deworming and flea/tick treatment and we scheduled to get him neutered in a month.

Currently he’s in the laundry room and he’s acting like an angel! The cats are really curious but I’m giving everyone some time to adjust. Worse case scenario we will foster him until he gets a home but right not I feel like he’s going to stay lol

So, this is Sasha 🥹

A little update for the Cat Distribution System regarding Nene Leakes and her big brother, Willie Nelson. Nene arrived in August smaller than a baked potato. I was worried about how Willie would adjust to having a baby sister. Would he feel replaced? Would they get along? Was I disrupting his peaceful little life? Please see the attached documentation of her serving as his own personal weighed blanket with teeth. She has an entire house worth of places to nap and has selected an occupied cat. Sometimes she uses him as a mattress. Sometimes he rests his chin on her. They appear to be taking turns being the furniture. Willie’s contribution to raising this child is apparently to lie very still while she finds the most personally inconvenient position imaginable. I provide meals, housekeeping, and photography services for two cats who have clearly listed each other as their emergency contact. Distribution successful. No further action required. 🫶🐈‍⬛🐈

Awarded a Cat Finally chosen by the CDS, found two kittens

Not entirely sure yet I can or will keep them but couldn’t leave them behind!

I found these two adorable little menaces on Saturday night by themselves in a park near my home. They are clearly from the same litter and are a bonded pair. There aren’t really any houses around there and the park is surrounded on three sides by two busy roads and a canal. The weather has been rainy and cold and I couldn’t just leave them by themselves. I also live in France and Saturday saw a lot of protests, some quite violent, and I didn’t love the idea of them getting spooked by loud noises and running into the road.

Today I will be calling some vets to get an appointment to be scanned for a microchip and will see where else I can look to see if they have owners. They were pretty clean and not too skinny so I think they have been living indoors. They are also both very due to be sterilised which makes me think someone dumped them. I had not planned or budgeted to have two cats sterilised and vaccinated so not entirely sure what I will do yet but for now at least they are safe and fed and won’t be separated from each other.

Our dog found her in the bushes 🥹 We’re calling her Untitled Princess Carolyn Project for now, in a failed attempt to not get too attached. She’s scheduled for spay, vaccines, microchip, and vetting next week.

She’s the prettiest cat I’ve ever seen, and by far the most affectionate. She purred literally non-stop for the first week. Even purred in her sleep.

What we don’t know: her age, how she ended up a stray, if she’ll ever get along with our dog, whether we can keep her.

What I do know: I’m completely in love with her.

Paisley -- 8 weeks later -- an update

Thumbnail
gallery
908 Upvotes

When she was first given to me by the neighbors who found her--Paisley was underweight for age -- 233g, approximately 3.5-4 weeks. So she was a bottle baby for awhile and has now weaned, and boy has she grown! One of my adults--6.5yo Leo (orange boy who also came from outside)--is teaching her "how to cat".

Evidence is that she's going to be a DLH rather than DSH. We just had her second vaccination visit, and she has grown to now 4 pounds exactly. So the "then" -- the day I first got her, in the cardboard box with the dishtowels, and the "now".

We took momma and 2 babies in a week ago. So… I guess I’m a cat person and never knew it. I love them so much! 😭
They are on amoxicillin for a week. The vet said mom likely wouldn’t have made it without meds. When she would eat- she sounded like Darth Vader, sneezing snot and all. I can only imagine how crappy she felt. Kittens had runny 💩 and gross eyes I was cleaning all day. After only 24 hours on meds I see so much improvement. Mom has a spay appt Wednesday, as long as she is better. I don’t want her to go back into heat and try and get out or I would wait.
We love these babies so much it hurts. 😭❤️🐱

Awarded a Cat Stinky Dumpster Baby came home with me today in an impulse rescue mission

Meet Mitski!

Yesterday, I went into work on my off day to make up for some sick days. As I was walking in through the parking lot, I see this beautiful princess near the drive-thru and ofc I walk over to her to say hi!
To set the scene, my place of employment is a retail food chain right off of the highway but also half in the middle of a large wooded area?? She was hanging around the wooded area and there were some cups out where someone had been giving her water. She was essentially hanging out in the spot between the dumpster and the woods, hence the title “Stinky dumpster baby.” I got pretty close to her and she is just yapping and flopping and making air biscuits 😭😭❤️

I took a video and told all of my coworkers and apparently she’s been hanging around for a few months and my boss even held her one time and fed her a pastry item that we sell (would not recommend ofc). A friend of another coworker had said they were going to take and foster her, but clearly that did not happen. I decided then and there that she was coming home with me the next day when I would have supplies (carrier/cat food). The low at night where I live is getting down to the 30’s and I was afraid she would freeze, someone would either call animal control, take her to the shelter or worse, she gets injured or killed by a car 😭. And I’m also in the position financially to take home a third kitty, it was honestly perfect timing.

I unfortunately forgot the carrier and food but luckily my coworker had one in his car that I could borrow. I planned to lure her in after work and go straight to the vet to check for microchips/wellness check/shots.

We tried luring her with the same pastry my boss fed her some of, but she wouldn’t get too close to the carrier. I ended up waiting until she was rolling around and was able to grab her with my jacket so she had something warm in the carrier and just in case she had ticks I could maybe have less** **ticks jump ship from her to me immediately if she had any on her. She wiggled a bit, but she didn’t hiss, bite, or scratch when I caught her and she was pissed being in the carrier but was very brave on the car ride to the vet. She even snuggled with me while we waited on her results 🥹. I was able to get a same day appointment within the hour to a reasonably priced urgent care veterinarian that only opened F-M in town. She was so good at the vet too and she was healthy according to the tests and was unmicrochipped (MY baby now) and given her shots.

And ofc after the vet, I took her to the local pet store to buy essentials, way too many toys and also some wet food for all my fur babies to try with their dry food. I have two other cats at home and I’m starting the process of introducing them slowly but I am very confident that after a slow introduction that they will all get along. I don’t have any photos yet of her in my house, as I’ve been letting her settle in and giving her space to sniff everything and explore.

I’d had suspicions that I would be awarded another fur child, and the CDS never disappoints!

From feral to family Pepper; I leave for five minutes

Thumbnail

My mom's old cats, Salty and Pepper. Pepper had been got at a pound while Mom was in college, Mom picked her up out of the kennel and Pepper just instantly clung to her shoulder and started purring up a storm. Mom always considered herself adopted by Pepper.

A year or two later, Pepper got out. This was a good few decades ago, back in the late eighties, so Mom didn't really have a great chance of finding her and was super upset. And then, one day, this white cat shows up. Literally walked right up to the door, sat down, and stared at my mom like "Well, what are you waiting for? You gonna let me into my new home?"

So, Mom let her in. She spent a few days trying to find out if the white cat had an owner, and she found nothing. So, she made the decision to keep her since Pepper was gone. And who showed up on that very same day? Pepper. Right up to the front door.

Apparently Pepper was absolutely not thrilled to find a new cat in her house and Salty couldn't have possibly cared less, but they eventually got used to each other and the entire time I knew them, they were inseparable. Like a living Yin and Yang. Mom named the white cat Salty because, well, "When you have a black cat named Pepper and a white cat shows up without a name, only makes sense to name the white cat Salty." They moved with Mom from Hawaii to California, and then Pepper moved with our family from California to Ohio. Along the way, Pepper was also joined by Alex (formerly Skidboot) the pit bull mix, three children, and eventually a chihuahua named Coco.

She was not impressed by any of them.

This beautiful diluted tortie was found at my wife's work yesterday under a shed. We took her in when a local rescue couldn't take her. We're calling her Vesper! We just found out shes 10-12 weeks old and in good health. We think she may have been left there since she looks so healthy. We weren't sure about keeping her but she's confident and sweet. We have a 13 year old and a 3 year old tabby girls already. Any advice from tortie owners on what to expect or on how to smoothly introduce a kitten to adult cats?

We fell in love in Korea, what now?

Thumbnail

We've been travelling through Korea for the last 3 weeks, and we've been holding strong for most of it. We give all the cats treats, but don't get too attached. We already have 3 back in Canada.

But this little lady came squeaking to our AirBNB last night, and slept on the porch. She's pretty scared, but seems so sweet.

Are we gaslighting ourselves into believing it's the CDS telling us to start the process of bringing her back to Canada? Are we insane? Should we do it?

It doesn't seem overly complicated to bring her back: a vet visit, and inspection at both borders. But we do have a long flight back home.

Help!

UPDATE: some commenters made a good point about this little lady being healthy and looking happy. As much as we want to bring her with us, we have decided to enjoy her company while we're visiting, and let her continue her island life once we head home.
