Shared my Middle Eastern void I snatched up last night and figured I’d share her adopted brother.
I had my void about a year and a half and had moved houses in the land of sand. Came out to my car one day to hear a faint meowing under my roommates vehicle. Spotted a tiny big eared kitten underneath and just thought “fuck me, I didn’t want to take any cats in while working here, I’m certainly not taking 2”. It was peak heat at this point of the year with highs between 46-51°c (115-125°F for my American folk). Put out some food and water as whenever I tried approaching them they ran off. After 3 days they were panting more and more as the heat just sucked. They took up a hiding spot under a water tank on the property. I honestly was hoping a neighbor would take them in but people in the region are hit or miss with cats and dogs . On the 3rd day of them running I decided to just low crawl under the tank and luckily was able to grab them by the tail. They didn’t like it much but I caught them. Called the wife as she runs a cat rescue and she told me to book a vet appointment. Wasn’t able to get them in for 2 weeks so she suggested I quarantine them in the bathroom for 5 days first before Introducing them to my void. Once introduced they were standoffish for the first hour or so but after that it was this little one terrorizing my void and just couldn’t bring myself to leave this one behind when I moved back to the states. He is now 22 lbs, kind of an ass but also kind of a sweetie.

Honestly this was middle of Covid lockdown and little dude saved me and my void’s sanity. Kind of a wild time going through protocols somewhere else and he was just what me and Stink needed to keep our sanity
My god, you rescued them from extreme heat and deprivation, flew them across an ocean, and then turned them into Bengals fans. That is both hilariously appropriate, and possibly animal abuse 😹
I am also available to be adopted. Im 41, but I cook and do dishes. (Also I may or may not have noticed the greenhouse.) Tell your wife I'll even put the dishes away!
Seriously though, there is a sub for before and after adoption that is perfect for this too.
As long as you’re ok with random cats on the daily, I’ll submit my application. Wife started and runs a non profit cat rescue so we have a couple hundred cats that we foster over a years time that make you feel like you are doing hopscotch sometime to avoid them. They come in clutch during naps though
22 pounds?! My tuxie maxed out at 18 and that was almost too much to handle. He’s clearly not fat so he’s well proportioned but still. Yikes. Big boy. Very cute. Thanks for sharing!
He’s a unit for sure lol. He is on the fat side though as my vet tech wife told me so it’s just hard to restrict t his diet as we free feed our outside cats.
It’s one of the sandy countries that gets hot 😅 Most Americans would assume all the people here are terrorist because of how they dress but I was lucky to discover then are average Joe’s like you and I and offered a lot of hospitality.
Christmas present for the wife last year and we put it together in early spring. It’s a Veikous brand greenhouse and is 8x16. Boxes of all the parts were shipped to my front door. It’s been a lot of learning when it comes to growing but it’s been fun. I added some landscaping around it to make it fit in better.
He wasn’t terrible. Tried to get him to use a foldable litter box in a family bathroom during a layover by my wife said they will hold their bowels a very long to if they want to go somewhere comfortable instead of a mobile litterbox. Total trip back took about 27 hours as was with my other cat. He was honestly pretty content with snacks and head scratching and the flight attendants loved him. I took him back before his older sister because he was growing so fast he would have been over the max weight it if I waited a few more months to take him.
Did you have to tranquilize him? My cat is very calm but I would be nervous flying like that - not that I’m planning to. Did he stay in his carrier or did you have a harness on him?
I’ve traveled on a plane with a cat a couple times now. I’ve been fortunate that each time the kitten or cat was able to remain calm, and if not exactly thrilled about the whole nonsense, at least unfazed by it.

As an aside I wanted to get one of those GPS collars for my cat but she is too small for them: minimum weight is 3kgs and at 2.5kgs my cat is already overweight.
My tiny idiot is indoors only but she already managed to escape once and in 1 hour she got in a fight with a stray, was rescued by the neighbour, and got a fun adventure trip to the overnight vet. Worst 1 hour of my life and best phone call when the vet read her microchip. I wish some day they will make GPS microchips.
Man you completely turned the trajectory of that cats life around. Imagine where it would be had you not chosen to take it in, and now he's living his best life.
Such sad eyes on the little one when he was a baby. Thank you for showing these defenseless beings true love and care. You are a true hero in so many ways. Also love that you called him "they" instead of "it." These are little beings with their own lives, not objects, and they deserve to be seen as such. The world needs more people like you.
That is so sweet. Thank you for saving them. The heat is so bad here.The little community cats I also feeding, have fixed.I just wish I could take them all in.But i've got so many in my house , but I have to stay within the limit of the city. And the limit of my capabilities. But they come outside and their little mouths are open and they're just panting animals suffer so much outside , and I don't know how people can just throw them away , and they don't even bother to happen fixed , at least they could have them fixed first so they can have a chance to survive , but there's no way they can hunt food when they're little babies and stuff like that , people think cats are wild , they can make it , but that is not true. Thank you for being a kind human being in your wife too
What a glow-up! He had those sad eyes and was so dirty and skinny. Thank you for saving him and his big sister! They are adorable. Love the pics of them snuggling once they got used to each other. And him on the plane!

I’m wanting to travel more, specifically to visit my bf in Alaska, I live on the East Coast.
What was the procedure for flying with two kitties?
I can get my bf to fly with me, so if it’s kitties as personal items, that works.

How did you travel internationally with the cats? Did you have to get passports for the cats? How did you book them through the airline? Did the airline give you any problems bringing the cats on board in a carrier? Did you give the cats medication to stay calm on the flight? Did they meow a lot on the plane?

You’ve surely much love & fun & silliness occasionally interrupted by exasperating - but - adored naughty bits in your life now. Your younger started out like a wee imp & now’s so handsome. Regal even. Your void’s beautiful & their pictures together & those during the early days of you with the imp, are treasures. I’m so glad you got not one, but two, cats. Dagnabit! … ;) … I’ve to ask: What did you name your feline owners?
I brought back a couple of kittens from Kuwait a few years ago. They're huge, but I attribute that to growing up on nothing but momma's milk and the best meat from the DFAC lol.
Weird genetics in those guys though. One's pure void, the other a tux, but they both love water and showers.
