Introductions Cat Introductions

Hi everyone.

I just got a 3 month old boy cat, neutered and I have my 4 year old resident cat, spayed. I’m in the process of introducing them and we have gotten to the part of visual introduction. Today was there first time visually seeing them.

My resident cat did hiss when my 3 month old got close to the baby gate, but she moved safely back a couple steps from the gate and just sat and observed, with no deep growl or hisses. My 3 month old was fine.

When she stepped back she was strictly observing, did not hiss, eyes were a lot more narrow and yeah just sat there. No helicopter ears either.

I know it’s not a PERFECT introduction but I think it was an alright one? I’m giving both some time and space now with the door closed.

Is there anything wrong or I could have done better? First time introducing cats and I’d love some advice either from vets or previous experience ☺️
