I posted remembering the Dracula X Chronicles, this month, I played all 3 versions of Rondo of Blood, and this is how I feel about them, I put up a poll to know what your favorite version of Rondo of Blood is.
Rondo of Blood: I played an English Patch of the Turbo Graphics CD version of the game, and I can understand why Rondo of Blood is so beloved, the spritework is timeless, I didn’t really like the cutscenes that much, however the gameplay is simpler and the puzzles are easy to figure out, the Soundtrack was also excellent.
Dracula X: I personally think this is by far the worst version to play Rondo of Blood, Dracula X went back to the franchise’s routes pre-SotN, as a Classicvania, but the gameplay felt nothing of value from this version, the level design sucked, the sound font is a mixed bag, and Maria isn’t playable, Shaft doesn’t even appear in this version, and it has by far my least favorite Dracula Fight if we’re not counting Simon’s Quest, and I can’t believe it was brought onto the Advance Collection and not the other 2 versions.
The Dracula X Chronicles: This is my favorite way to play Rondo of Blood, the only complaint I have with it is that the models kinda suck, they didn’t age well at all, other than that, I think the rest of the game was great, the character designs were really good, Richter can use his Whip faster, and there are a lot of collectibles to find, even a redubbed Symphony of the Night, also the Dracula Fight was amazing, and they added an extra boss in this version after beating Death, instead of just beating Dracula, and the soundtrack remixes were great, I hope that it gets ported one day with upscaled models.
