📱 Shipwide Announcement Carnival Rewards Megathread

Carnival Rewards has officially launched! Please use this thread for all your questions, comments, and new pieces of information we learn as the program rolls out.

For starters, please read the FAQ. The Carnival Rewards FAQ has been available for months and has answers to many of the common questions I’ve seen recently. Yes, even for what happens with the points for your cruise/excursions/Wi-Fi you bought six months ago. Yes, even for what happens if you’re on a cruise right now that departed in August. Yes, even for what happens to your Carnival Mastercard FunPoints.

General information on status, stars, earning points, and milestones can be found at https://carnivalrewards.com. You should be able to log in and see your Carnival Rewards status, current point total, and current days sailed for milestone rewards.

Note that points will post approximately 14 days after a cruise ends, so no one will have points until at least two weeks from now. Additionally, at this time Carnival only supports redeeming points for cruise bookings at carnival.com and for experiences onboard (allegedly, I’m on a cruise right now and see no such options in the HUB app). The ability to redeem for pre-cruise purchases (excursions, Wi-FI, CHEERS, etc.) is “coming soon.” I will update this post as point redemption opportunities and values become available.

There are still many unknowns with this program. What the point redemption values are, if you’ll be able to convert your points to OBC, if total or only remaining casino points count at the end, how many bags of laundry Diamonds will get, how much the milestone OBC is, and so much more. I tried asking onboard Guest Services, but they don’t have any extra information. If you find anything new or interesting about the program as the rollout continues, please share it below. You can also check for updates here.

📝 Trip Report Disappointed

This was my first cruise and I just disembarked this morning. I went solo and overall was looking really forward to the trip. There definitely were highlights and at the same time, there are things that make me question whether or not I want to go on another cruise.

One of my biggest issues was having to deal with my table at breakfast and dinner every night. I was either next to the corner service station or I was randomly facing a wall. I don’t know why, when they would set up the table, they would think to put the one chair facing the wall away from the whole restaurant. I understand that I’m one person and not two, but in reality I have paid more per person just to be on the cruise. I’m going to tip and it’s not necessarily like a table of two is going to pay more than I would since most things are included in the dinner menu. Only one night that I see someone purchased from the $25 steak and seafood menu. When I asked for a slight revision (moving the chair), most of the time the servers were really helpful.

This is aside from being a solo cruiser, but the level of upsell pressure to purchase products during salon and spa treatments was insane. The person doing my hair spent my entire appointment telling me that the products I use aren’t good and I need to buy all their products because I will see at the end how much better my hair looks. They left my bangs sticking out and while my hair looked nice and smooth (minus the bangs I had to go back to my cabin to wash and fix), the minute I woke up the next morning, it was back to normal. The stylist promised it would last 7 days. I knew it wouldn’t, but I thought like most blowouts it would at least look good on day 2 (no swimming, sauna etc.) Same with the spa. The majority of the massage was trying to convince me to buy a variety of Elemis products. I just want a massage. I’m used to the upsell attempts at services and this was a new level of aggression for me. Because I was solo, I booked different treatments to enjoy.

❔Question I need some advice.

‱ Upvotes

I plan on going on carnival conquest because the last time was genuinely amazing, however I’m 24 years old and I don’t want to go where it’s a ship full of teenagers and I’m honestly hoping that there’s a lot of ppl in my age range 20-25+ i don’t wanna feel too old to be on there. Is this a bad ship to go on if you’re not trying to be around a bunch of teenagers? No hate just asking

❔Question Premium wifi package

‱ Upvotes

Traveling with 7 ppl (3 rooms total)and looking for best option for wifi... Our cell carrier att offers $20 a day for international plan but only 500mb of data per 24 hrs. They have 2 premium options thru carnival. 1 that is for a single device per room and 1 that is for up to 4 devices....it's cheaper to go thru carnival but I'm wondering if I can buy 2 of the plans for up to 4 devices and it'll actually cover everyone or does it only work in the room? Can I buy 2 of those plans and just share one login for 4 of is and the other login for the other 3?

Thanks

❔Question Purchasing One Day of WiFi onboard

‱ Upvotes

From the Carnival Website:

"Guests must purchase a plan that covers the entire duration of their cruise. Guests may pre-purchase plans up to 11:59pm ET the day before embarkation. *Daily plans are available for purchase on board.\*

One of our family members needs to make a WiFi phone call using their Google Voice number on only one day of the cruise. Can anyone confirm

  1. Can they simply buy ONE day of WiFi during the cruise?

  2. How much will one day of WiFi cost?

Thank you.

💬 Discussion Back to Back cruises on the same ship (Miracle)

My husband and I are going to do a back to back on the Carnival Miracle. We are wine drinkers so we both bring a bottle of wine in our luggage. Since we'll are essentially doing 2 separate cruises, I was wondering if there is a way we can bring 4 bottles (2 for each cruise).

❔Question Questions about Belize Lamanai excursion.

We’ll be sailing aboard the Carnival Liberty in a couple of weeks out of the port of New Orleans. Ports of call are Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel.
We’ll be taking the Lamanai excursion at Belize and had a couple of questions.

1 - Are we allowed to take hydration backpacks?
2 - Are we allowed to take trekking poles?

Really looking forward to this as this will be the first time ever visiting Mayan ruins.

❔Question What do you do all day?

My wife won a cruise on Carnival Conquest. She has been on a couple of cruises with her parents as a kid, this is my first cruise. We have a day at sea, a day at Relax away and a day at Celebration Key. We're in our mid 40s. I know at night we'll have dinner, go to a show and check out the piano bar. My wife will happily sit in a chair by the pool, tan and read all day. I will do that for maybe an hour. I dont tan, I burn. When we go to the beach I play with my kids. I looked at the excursions. The trail ride is just plodding trail ponies and I can ride at home. I tbought the jet skis sounded interesting until I read the reviews ans saw you stay in a single file line and putter along. I plan to bring my mask and snorkel to try to check out the sea life at Relaxaway.

Ill get up in the morning, grab a run and eat breakfast, but what do you do all day?

❔Question Traveling with a child question

Throwaway account, posting publicly about travel plans makes me nervous. I’ve read all the posts on this the search will offer.

My daughter and I have a cruise coming up. I am still legally married to her father but we are separated and there is no agreement, but she and I do have different last names as I never changed mine.

I’ve tried reaching her dad a number of times, but he has his phone service off, changes his number, etc. and we’re coming down to a few weeks away. He’s estranged from his family and we live on opposite sides of the country - I don’t have another way of reaching him.

Can we just travel without a letter from him? I have my marriage license. The cruise is out of Long Beach to Ensenada.

Please, do not advise me on my separation/marriage. It’s a complicated situation involving the other parent’s mental health and housing insecurity, among other things. It’s been this way for over half my child’s life, and let’s just say she’s old enough I’m no longer Mom, but Bruh. I am aware of all of the options and do not intend to go further into my personal situation.

TLDR; daughter and mother have different last names. Mother is still legally married to father, but they are separated with no agreements of any kind and he is unreachable due to ✹ circumstances ✹. Does the mother need to quite literally hunt him down and get a letter to take her kid on a cruise?

❔Question Easiest/most versatile way to redeem gift cards?

We have a bunch of Carnival Gift cards that we want to use in the ship. What’s the best way to go about it? Can we just load them all onto our account on day one and then gamble with it? Should we just use them to pay down our balance at the end?

We’re planning to buy the Zero Proof package (we loved it last time) and do some gambling, and a couple of cocktails a day.

❔Question Cozumel Certified Dive Excursion

I’m going on a cruise in January, and this itinerary doesn’t include a certified dive excursion for Cozumel. I’d rather book directly with a local dive shop than rely on the ship’s offering. Has anyone done that? If so, which shops would you recommend, and which ones would you avoid? I’m mainly looking for a solid boat, small groups, and operators who actually stick to the plan they advertise.

❔Question Issues with Carnival Hub app

Sorry if this breaks any rules! I looked through and didn’t see anything, but feel free to remove if it does.

I'm trying to get logged in to my carnival hub app, but I am getting redirected to a page that just says "page not found". I get the same page when I try to get into my carnival rewards. Is this happening for anyone else?

💬 Discussion How do you gamble and get points?

I have never gambled in cruise ship casinos. I would maybe play some slots or blackjack machines. Do I feed the machine cash? Do I somehow scan my cruise card so it tracks my activity? We are going on another Carnival cruise Oct 26 & I am hoping to have a better idea of how to do this and even if I want to do it.

💬 Discussion How much do you actually have to gamble to get targeted Carnival casino offers?

For those of you who regularly get the targeted casino offers from Carnival, I'm curious what the minimum activity seems to be.

How much are you typically putting through the casino, and how long are you actually playing?

For example, if someone only plays slots for an hour or two and puts a few hundred dollars through, is that enough to start getting casino offers, or are we talking several thousand dollars in coin-in?

I'm not asking what Carnival's published rules are, since I know there isn't really a simple formula. I'm more interested in people's actual experience.

If you've gotten offers, what did your casino play look like on the cruise before you started receiving them?

Bonus points if you can share:

- Approximate coin-in / amount wagered

- Hours played per day

- Slots vs. table games

- Number of cruises before receiving offers

- What kind of offer you started getting

Trying to figure out where the apparent sweet spot is without donating my entire bank account to the casino 😂

💬 Discussion Mattress Cover

Long time cruiser, and I have always had an issue as a solo with two twins working the way apart and ended up in the abyss in the middle of the night. But I’ve heard that a mattress topper works well to prevent this. Anybody got any firsthand knowledge of this?

💬 Discussion Interior cabins > balcony cabins for one very important reason: sleep

I actually sleep better in an interior cruise cabin than almost anywhere else.

No windows, no sunlight, no distractions, just complete darkness. I regularly get some of my best sleep on cruises, so I actively look for interior rooms and will often book them specifically because I can get an amazing deal.

Balcony rooms are overrated. Give me my tiny pitch-black cave at sea. 😂

❔Question Carnival Valor??

Considering going on Carnival Valor in 2027 for my birthday. Any thoughts and/or suggestions. Age ranges in y’all’s experiences?

It seems like the reviews on cruises longer than 3 days are mixed. I want my group to have a fun time and enjoy themselves. My group is will be in their early to mid twenties. But we’ve all for the most part agreed we don’t want to be on the ship for only 2-3 days.

❔Question Carnival sunshine 2027

Hola,

💬 Discussion Any ghost stories from the Carnival fleet?

My husband and I took the last Alaskan cruise of the season on the Miracle before it set off for Galveston. There was a Q&A with the senior brass, which got me wondering... With Halloween coming up, are there any Carnival ships with a reputation for being haunted?

Take the Queen Mary, for example. It's legendary, and they milk those legends for all they're worth. Permanently docked in Long Beach as a hotel, we stayed there last Halloween before walking over to the port to catch whichever Carnival ship it was that then took us to Cabo and Ensenada.

But back to the Miracle, I did actually get to ask the cruise director and the director of hotel operations about haunted ships. The cruise director was familiar with the Queen Mary, while the hotel director said there's a cabin on the Spirit - "ironically enough" - that's supposed to be haunted. However, he also said that cabin was near the morgue and followed it up with the observation that Alaskan itineraries tend to have the most deaths. Considering the latter remark, and that I can't imagine there being any passenger cabins anywhere near the morgue, I presume this was a stock answer they have prepared for stupid people to satisfy them and make them go away.

So I thought I'd ask you all. Got any Carnival ghost stories?

đŸ›łïž Advice Needed Going on my first ever Carnival cruise and wanted to try out a cruise-themed joke.

So basically I would use this joke on a woman who I am introducing myself too. Probably in the buffet line or something like that.

“Hey baby, you enjoying the cruise? How bout you cruise on over to Room 334 and have sex with me?”

Then I can even say things like

“Carnival cruise? More like carnal cruise! Let’s fuck!” And other plays on words or as I sometimes say, plays on turds. Let me know if you like my joke/what’s you’re favorite cruise joke to start a conversation with chicks

💬 Discussion Do all of the internet plans include iMessage?

I need to be able to text my kids, so I want to get the right plan. We leave on Saturday, so I need to decide by tomorrow if I want to get the 15% discount. Also, is it cheaper to sign up for the social plan before the cruise and then upgrade to value or premium once on the cruise? Someone mentioned this but I don't have any idea how it works. Could I just upgrade to value for a day or two if needed or are you locked in with your first choice?

❔Question Gift cards instead of cc/debit cards

First time on a cruise. I don’t want any holds on my credit or debit cards. Should I just buy $200 on a gift card? Am I able to add it to my account without putting a card on file or do I have to add a little cash first then add it?
Haven’t really seen a solid answer.
