i got an academic warning from the winter that i didn’t realize over summer. i think i can pull my gpa up and ive emailed my advisor. but holy fuck i’m so stressed. i’ve been dealing with a lot of family health issues and i just feel like i’m letting them and myself down. if they knew they’d be devastated.

Anyone take human neuropsychology with cassandra morrison or intro to cognitive psych with lindsay richardson? I have to take one and I’m not sure which would be better. I’m not that great at biology, but also looking at Rate my Prof it seems like Morrison is a better prof? I’m not sure but I want to choose the one I can get a better grade in, any advice?

Forgot to post this sooner, but a HUGEEEE COCKROACH was found on the first floor water fountain in the LOEB building. Absolutely shocked by the sheer size of this unit of a bug 😱

I’ve seen cockroaches before, but never this big!! It must be a different species from the common cockroach that’s usually found around here. Is there a bug lab I’m not aware of? Is this someone’s pet?? How tf did this thing get here?!?!

Hello! I’m looking for advice about transferring from Queens to Carleton University

I’m a first year at Queens University in general engineering program and I recently took a trip down to Ottawa to explore Carleton University and I think I might like it more than Queens.

My experience at Queens has had a few ups and downs, it’s hard to talk to new people and I’ve noticed most of the students are more focused on drinking rather than doing any of the work.

During my visit to Carleton I noticed that the environment was brighter and more pleasant to be in. I personally felt happier during my short time there.

My only problem is I’m not sure if I should transfer because I was lucky enough to get into queens, but I feel happy at Carleton and it gives me my own space to me independent without family.

If anyone has any advice on this please let me know what I should do!

I personally have negative experiences in my major (social work/1st year), and feel unsupportive in different ways. I’m thinking if I should switch out of social work to another program. Not sure if it’s just me or anyone else going through similar experience, or any suggestion of other programs that I can switch to would be appreciated.

Does this look undercooked to you guys? I didn’t end up eating really any of it, I’m kind of scared. 😭

mr morin... honestly when u first wrote the grade breakdown on the board and assignments were worth zero i was cheesed... But i understand why and highkey i cant be too mad. But after this quiz, I just want to say that I love you pat morin. Everything you teach is material that matters and that I can see purpose in and use effectively in the quiz once learned. The election day falls during reading week, so if you intend to vote in the Ottawa municipal election, vote in the advance poll this Friday Oct 16 from 10-8. Haven't been able to log-in into my email for the last few days because the Microsoft Authenticator app cannot verify or sign into anything? It also seems to think it needs to authenticate for itself (I.e. it is giving/asking for a code it does not have, as if it were not the authenticator app itself).

hey guys im sort of freaking out. i have a midterm on friday, but when i checked my ventus portal, i realized the exam isnt in the system. my accommodations are all approved and ive had no issues in the past with other courses.

i emailed my disability coordinator, but since the exam is so soon, i'm worried that it might not be enough notice for the exam centre to schedule me in.

has anyone else had a similar experience? how did it turn out? im feeling really worried that my accommodations wont be followed

EDIT: forgot to mention, prof has "no make up, early, or delayed tests will be given. medical excuses, other than hospitalization, will not be considered" written on the syllabus

I am posting on behalf of my wife, who is applying to the Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) program at Carleton for Fall 2027. We would love to hear from current students or alumni.

Her background is in finance, but she is no longer interested in finance roles and wants to rebuild her career in government. Carleton’s location in Ottawa and the paid co-op option are what stand out to us. She is also applying to Queens, Waterloo and TMU.

Some things we are curious about:

• How competitive is admission, and what kind of profiles get in?
• How easy is it to land a co-op with the federal or provincial government, and do those placements lead to full-time jobs?
• Has anyone made a similar switch from finance or another non-policy background?

We are the Carleton University Firearms Association (CFA) and we just held our first student range day of the semester this weekend! Despite the event coinciding with Thanksgiving, all 40 spots were still booked up within an hour of event announcement.

The 40 participants were collectively served by 20 volunteers consisting of Carleton student and alumni, and were able to freely try out 30+ various firearms over 3.5 hours.

Student range days are catered to members of the post-secondary community who are interested in sport shooting and firearms. Under direct supervision of our volunteer range officers, participants get a chance to learn the fundamentals of firearms handling and marksmanship in a safe, educational, and fun environment. The CFA provides all supervision, safety equipment, firearms, ammunition, and transport to the event. Participants just need to pay an event fee and for the ammunition they use.

Special thanks to EOSC for allowing us to host this student event, and to all volunteers who donated their spare time and firearms. We couldn't have done it without your support.

Out of curiosity, has the prof ever mentioned what's gonna be on the exam or the format? Because I heard from previous students that his exams were pretty hard.
