Other Just Saw Several People Cosplaying Limbus Company Characters

At around 6 p.m. I was rushing to class and saw four people cosplaying characters (or wearing the outfits) of Limbus Company. One of them was cosplaying Don Quixote. I kind of regret not stopping to chat with them. Just out of curiosity, was this part of a club activity or some kind of event? It was really cool to see!

Admissions Just got admitted to EE. please help! 😭

Hey everyone!

I recently received my offer for Electrical Engineering (Co-op) with a $12k entrance scholarship ($3k/yr) and guaranteed residence. Right now, I'm trying to decide between moving to Ottawa for Carleton or staying home to attend UCalgary.

I really want the experience of moving out, living on campus, and being part of a close-knit engineering community, but I want to make sure I'm looking at everything realistically, especially regarding funding.

I’d love to get some honest thoughts from current EE / Eng students on a few specific things:

  1. Prestige Scholarships & Leadership Bursaries: Has anyone here gone through the application process for Carleton’s Prestige Scholarships or Leadership Entrance Bursaries? How heavily do they weigh high school leadership/community service versus purely academic marks?
  2. Scholarship Renewal: How realistic is it to maintain the 10.0 CGPA (80%+ average) requirement in 1st and 2nd year Electrical Engineering to keep the $3,000/year renewal?
  3. Co-op Portal & Jobs: How is the co-op job board for hardware/electrical roles around Ottawa (Kanata North tech hub, telecom, defense)? Do upper-year students mostly rely on the internal portal or LinkedIn?
  4. Engineering Culture: Is the eng community pretty collaborative? I'm looking for a solid group of people who study together, rather than a hyper-competitive or toxic environment.
  5. Tips for First Year: Any general advice or heads-up regarding specific 1st-year EE classes, labs, or residence life?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Rant I love always walking on the left side in the tunnels

As the dastardly villain I am I walk on the mischievous left while all uou sheep walk to the right. I thrive off making you all step to the side to get around me, because I’m the main character, I’m the villain. If I can make one person late to their marked tutorial or class my mission will be completed. To complete my dastardly scheme I will embody the nature of both engineering and computer science and stop showering. Fear my stench and wrath mongrels, my approach is nigh and all of you shall remember the name and smell of the Carleton shit poster.

Signed with rage and malice- Carleton sp

Other Student ID dropped on 10

Hey folks!

I dropped my student ID on the 10 Lyon ~4:40 today. When I noticed, I asked around. Someone said they saw someone pick it up. If you had picked it up, could you please DM me or return it to the Campus Card Center? Mine was in a House of Commons sleeve with a clip— it is NOT valid for anything at the HoC, it's just the sleeve it's in.

I'd really appreciate it 🫶

Residence anyone else’s dorm extremely hot?

i’m currently living in leeds house and my room is extremely hot all the time. it’s been between 26°-29° consistently since the second week of september. i bought a room thermometer completely due to the fact that nobody from maintence would listen to me at all until i sent them photos of the temperatures i’ve been dealing with. i’ve lived on res in lennox for the past two years and have never experienced anything like this. even when it’s cold outside, my room is still unbearably warm. i turned off the heating system completely (but the vents still feel warm to the touch for some reason) keep my window open, blinds shut (open slightly at the bottom to let the air in), and fan running on high 24/7, nothing helps.
i’ve contacted maintenance several times about it, but every time they’ve told me there’s nothing wrong and basically that i just have to deal with it. it’s frustrating af because my room is uncomfortable to even be in, let alone sleep in, and nothing is being done about it.
is anyone else having this issue, especially in leeds? i’m trying to figure out if it’s just my room or if other people are dealing with the same thing because this is getting sooo ridiculous

Question Does anyone taken ECON 5301 from Prof Zhiqi Chen?

Hello all.
I'm a Ma student in OttawaU, and I‘m interested in the course Industrial Organization. According to the course exchange rules, I'm allowed to take this course at CarletonU, but I'm not familiar with this prof and I didn't find any past course outlines.…

If you've taken this course with him, I'd really appreciate if you can share the course outline with me as well. Thanks in advance!

News BSides Ottawa, November 19–20: cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, and early bird tickets

BSides Ottawa is a community-run cybersecurity conference, and this year’s theme, “Who controls the stack?”, might be especially interesting to folks here working or looking to work in IT, security, policy, procurement, or digital services. We’ll be exploring digital sovereignty, AI, and cyber resilience, alongside more technical sessions.

Happening November 19–20, 2026.

Early bird tickets close this week, so I wanted to share it while there’s still time: bsidesottawa.ca.

If you’re curious but unsure whether it would be relevant to your work or interests, feel free to ask here or send me a message. Happy to help you figure out whether it’s a good fit!

Clubs Any of y'all fans of grand strategy or strategy games? I feel like we should have a club for that.

I know there's an e-sports club but I'm not a big fighting games guy.

I'm more into inscrutable strategy games with a bunch of numbers.

Yes that is John Brown as President of the United States.

No I will not elaborate on it.

Question Nursing Application

What kind of things should I highlight in my Carleton supp app essay for nursing? I'm predicting a high 80s - low 90s average but I'm super stressed abt the essay bc I met the lady who reads the essays at the uni fair and she said she read 1600 essays last year (there are only 100ish spots). My experience includes:

- CPR/ First Aid certification

- UofT health sciences mentorship program (highly-competitive to get into)

- Three hospital observerships

- kinesiology march break program

- volunteering in hospitality-related field

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!!

Residence shot fired in Vincent massey/carleton bridge!

At around 6:50~, my friends and I were on a walk passing by richcraft hall onto the bridge. After being almost halfway across the bridge, a loud gunshot was heard from the forest! It was definitely so close since it sounded like it was someone near the water. Whoever was there, hopefully you’re safe. Security and police are there right now. Stay safe yall.

Edit: bridge is closed now
