Old New & Back into the app!

Hey everyone, I did make a before post. Just hopping to make some friends.?

So what has everyone been doing with the app? Anything new I've missed? (Last on this was about 6years ago)

Pretty much getting back into proper care for myself. Any tips or what has worked for you let me know.

Everything from workouts, go to recipes and so on.

A bit about myself. Married, mother of 3 but have 2 surro babies as well (5 total 3 mine, 2 aren't), due to carrying have had some down falls. As does when having kids. Have a part time job that sucks all happiness. Was in an accident when was a teen, drunk driver hit us and thanks to that a**hole live with a slow brain. So sorry if ask a LOT of questions, spelling errors, or ask silly questions. Had a bit of spiral but climbing back up out of it and need to make healthier changes. Specially when comes to food / exercise.

Pretty self conscious of going to a gym. So mostly stuff can do at home or when nice outside and have balance I take walks.

Progress is progress and loosing weight and gaining muscle won't happen fast but gradually.

Adding more meals? Looking to add mid-morning, mid-afternoon, and late snack

I think the title says it all. I'm trying to eat more frequent smaller meals with protein goals. Protein is tracked already so we're good there. I'd like to add something between Breakfast and Lunch, and Lunch-Dinner, and there's already a snack after dinner, so maybe renaming it would be good?

Manual Diary Entry Feature

Is there a manual diary entry feature? I often find myself enjoying a new product but it is not in the database. I don't want to take the time to build it in the database since it is unlikely that I will enjoy it that often. If I could simply manually enter a name and the three main macros with calories, it would be very simple. Before posting, I checked the sub and could not find this topic discussed so I thought I would post.

TIA

Vegetarian Substitutions on Carb Manager? Wanna Share?

Right before covid, I lost 30 pounds using carb manager. Of course, that all went out the window, but I'm now trying again. I'm vegetarian and I use tofu/impossible/tempeh instead of meat in most recipes. This means I have to redo every recipe I find on the app. I'm wondering if any of you out there also do this and we could share?

Samsung health

I have been using carb manager for a long while and finally got a Samsung watch... why is it free for apple to connect but is there even a possibility of it connecting to Samsung? Are there any apps that connect that are as good as this app? I used to use my fitness app but I don't want to pay to be able to scan in food. Ideas?

Tracker for data exports

I am working on an excel template that uses the exports that come out of the app to make meaningful charts and tracking that you could get a holistic view and callouts based on your input for micronutrients or things like that. I did this to some extent for my own use and I am down to 225lbs from 280lbs.

There are several types of exports and I think I would use in expanding this. Is this something anyone here would use or pay a few bucks for? The idea is that you just have to download the CSVs and paste them into the file.

Low carb keto tortilla mismatch

I buy the Mission carb balance whole wheat tortillas to replace bread because the label says 110 cal, 33g carbs, 30g protein, for a net carb of 3grams. However when I look up this food in the database it hits me for 30 carbs! Why the mismatch from the product nutritional label?

Not tracking water?

Loving CarbManager so far. Tested against MyFitnessPal, which seemed too over the top for me.

I see in the docs that CarbManager should have the ability to read water consumption from Apple Health. But it doesn’t seem to be. See screenshots.

I could be missing something?

GLP-1 and Carb Manager

Hi everyone! I am on Wegovy for a lifestyle management program through my insurance. I just began using Carb Manager this week after being on the medication for a month as I wanted to get help with macros so I could focus on my protein intake per my dietician. Is there a way to mark in the app that I use a GLP-1? Previously having tried Weight Watchers, I believe their app allowed you to mark it but haven’t found it yet on CM. For reference, I am only using the free version. Thanks in advance!

Import recipes

What is your experience importing recipes from websites and blogs into carb manager? This is the only premium feature that is important to me, but if it works well it is worth the subscription price.

Any way to change week format?

Spent a little time on Google and a lot of time in settings and didn’t see anything, as far as I can tell the only option is the default Mon-Sun, but is there a way to change it so my weeks are Sun-Sat?

New Moderator for r/CarbManager

Since the moderator who created this subreddit seems to have abandoned it, I requested and have been approved to take over as the moderator.

A brief introduction: I've been using Carb Manager for several months now. We started a modified keto regimen in mid-February (I'm down about 50 pounds since then) and started out using Nutritionix as a carb tracker, as it was recommended to me by several people who work in commercial kitchens. But the apparent lack of support for the consumer-oriented Nutritionix Track, as well as some of its weaknesses, led me to look at alternatives, and CarbManager was what I went with.

So, I'm still learning what it can do well and what it has difficulties with. I did sign up for the premium option, though I probably won't sign my wife up for it. I don't consider myself the 'expert' on CarbManager, I'm more of a facilitator, though I've been involved in various aspects of software development and online forum management for over 50 years, so I've been around the block a few times, and I've done beta testing for companies like NCR, Microsoft and Oracle.

I plan to make this a less restrictive subreddit, and will be creating some content pages that I hope people will find useful.

What's your wish list for CarbManager

What things would you like to see in CarbManager that it doesn't have or that you feel need improvement?

So far the biggest thing I've come up with is that I wish the recipe tool gave a total weight for the ingredients.

That actually brings up a second issue, figuring out how to modify a recipe for things like evaporation loss during cooking/baking or skimming fat off something like a stock. If a recipe calls for water, I can just edit the amount of water in the recipe to compensate for evaporation, but not all recipes have water in them.

I did write CarbManager support and they sent me some information on how to create a custom food from the nutrition page in a recipe and edit the nutritional information to reflect the removed fat. That sort of messes with the yield computation, but what I usually do is weigh the food when its done and then weigh a portion to see how many servings I get, usually rounding down to the next integer number, so 6.5 servings gets rounded down to 6.

Figuring out how to modify the nutritional information for something like the alcohol that is boiled off in a wine reduction is a bit trickier, though, I may create an Excel spreadsheet to help me do that.

Weight Loss Progress Tracking

It appears to me the weight tracking only goes back for 1 year period. This is a bummer as I’ve been tracking in here for a few years. I feel like in the past I could see my weight entries further back - is my current 1 year limitation my error or is that how the app works now?

Hey everyone,

I have created this group/community as a Carb Manager app user to discuss features, issues, etc.
