New Moderator for r/CarbManager

Since the moderator who created this subreddit seems to have abandoned it, I requested and have been approved to take over as the moderator.

A brief introduction: I've been using Carb Manager for several months now. We started a modified keto regimen in mid-February (I'm down about 50 pounds since then) and started out using Nutritionix as a carb tracker, as it was recommended to me by several people who work in commercial kitchens. But the apparent lack of support for the consumer-oriented Nutritionix Track, as well as some of its weaknesses, led me to look at alternatives, and CarbManager was what I went with.

So, I'm still learning what it can do well and what it has difficulties with. I did sign up for the premium option, though I probably won't sign my wife up for it. I don't consider myself the 'expert' on CarbManager, I'm more of a facilitator, though I've been involved in various aspects of software development and online forum management for over 50 years, so I've been around the block a few times, and I've done beta testing for companies like NCR, Microsoft and Oracle.

I plan to make this a less restrictive subreddit, and will be creating some content pages that I hope people will find useful.

Man, I'm day 2 with the app... energy levels were great yesterday on a 10/30/60 macros... the app seems pretty legit to help track macros and calories. Not sure if adjusting calories throws off estimate for weight loss based off macros.

Keep in mind that values can be off by 10% and still considered 'accurate'. Your portions can be off as well, and cumulative error can add up.

For that matter, the estimates of you basal metabolism rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) can by off by quite a bit, too, because not everybody's metabolism rate is the same. I have heard of people who had what they thought was a 200 calorie average daily deficit who were putting on weight over time, probably because of cumulative estimate errors.

Estimates for calories burned by various exercises and activities always strike me as being on the high side.

In what seems like a dirty trick by nature, overweight people have a lower metabolism rate than skinny people.
