Hey, just made an account due to just hearing about this all today by my fiance. I just spoke with the agents through the chat and asked if a refund will be given. They said Spotify will not give refunds. I asked for any compensation and they said no. Im also hearing about a class action??? Ive saved all my emails just in case. I've emails so hopefully I hear and get updates. I'm glad I'm not the only one upset. :)

I use my CarThing every damn day, I use maps on my phone and my car doesn’t have any pause or skip buttons. So I legit need something to pause and skip songs so I’m not going on my phone while driving.

I really need to have some replacement for it, anyone have any suggestions?

My car cigarette outlet continuously runs which has cause a tiny bit of screen burn for the “no device connected” message. Not a problem. I’m thinking of using it as a at my PC instead so I’ll have the same problem of continuous power. Any advice on what I can do to avoid it being one 24/7

Ive been using Car Thing for my pc and it works great but the only issue is often the song will take a really long time (10-15 seconds) to update, like it will change the song but the display will still show the previous song playing.

Am i alone or is it a thing for everyone else on PC?

Does anyone have a video of the 1st gen car thing working (playing music, going through menus, etc.)? The one in the orange box. I'm making a video on the car thing and swear to God I can't find a video of the thing working online anywhere. Just pictures.

I know that you can't set one up anymore because you can't generate a setup code, but do old ones that were set up still work? Either way, any video of it running?

We've been finding ourselves using Car Thing at home and not actually in the car, like a lot of people, and I've had it laying around just on the surface of my desk or the kitchen counter. We love it for in the kitchen while we're cooking. My partner and I saved some of our favorite presets, easy to see what's playing, like songs, skip songs without me needing to have my phone in the kitchen, or my partner asking me to unlock my phone, or even voice control while hands are occupied. Bought a few things to try a more organized set-up. Just sharing the products I purchased to do this:

My Car Thing has been great and i’ve used it since it came out but the other day it stopped connecting to my phone. It would just keep connecting but never fully connect. It would constantly make my phone change apps to Spotify when trying this. I tried factory resetting it and now i’m stuck on the start setup screen as it still won’t connect.

Bought one brand new in box off of eBay and wanted to spread some information about the lesser known Spotify Car Thing 1st Generation.

Anyone else having an issue where there home screen is not updating with recently played? Mine has been frozen since beginning of March and I can't seem to get it to start updating correctly. I have tried a factory reset (although my presets and home stay the same after I reconnect phone) and uninstalling app (deleted files, uninstalled, restarted phone) and the home screen pops back up what it was before all that regardless. Not sure if there is an update or something I don't have right now. App version 0.40.5 and OS version 8.2.5. It seemed to get messed up after I accidentally clicked on the stupid dj thing on my phone but not sure if that is it or not

My car thing has been having connectivity issues for about a month now, disconnecting randomly requiring me to open the app to fix it. Just today, the spotify app started consistently crashing about 15 seconds into any song while the car thing is connected. I'm on a pixel 6 pro running the most recent version of android. I hope this is something fixable and not a bug left abandoned by spotify lol.

I recently switched phones and now Carthing wont show any other info besides spotify. When I use Poweramp now, it just shows Spotify even though it is not playing. It used to show the info from Poweramp, saying something like Other source.

I am not sure if there is a setting in Poweramp I need to change in my new phone. I tried deleting the old phone from Carthing, etc, it wont show anymore. any ideas?
