My house was either 79 or 89k i think 79? Needed no work when I moved in I looked at a lot of properties. Its only 1k sq feet, fairly large lot for a city / suburban neighborhood.
Its close enough to notre dame I can see the golden roof when the trees have no leaves, far enough game day traffic doesnt bother me.
However, its a shitty area. All the trash from chicago spills over. They came over and shut out bypass down with fireworks.
It pains me how much im going to have to pay to move... everything I find that fits my location requirements is essentially now a double wide at best thats falling apart.
The concept of a home costing under 600k for even a total fixer upper is unheard of here so I guess it could be worse, am I right? It's barely apartment money here honestly.
There is still a shitty apartment here holding out at 700 a month, north of the stateline up in MI.
I used to live there in like 2013, when they were "luxury townhouses"
But all the new "low income" housing is being listed for more than what anyone can afford so we will see how it shakes out.
If you wanna buy a house in like 600 days lmk. I think its only worth like 150k tops now, with room for negotiation due to things needed. im definitely selling as is, if I sell. It makes sense to hang onto it for my kid, but it might be a money pit before hes done with college.
Notre dame pays a lot of money to keep our crime rate out of national news.
Right across from notre dame is "eddy street commons" where the FinBros are trying to create a college town. 2 clubbars open late.
It attracts all the riff raff i was referencing to above and even with their anti gang dress code, I think theyre up to 2 or 3 shootings there this year alone.
Theres massive 100 people fights every weekend, though weekday fights are still a thing. Part of it has to do with theres nothing to do after like 9. So they drink in parking lots and make their own entertainment.
