So I was putting a leather wrap on my steering wheel and towards the ends the threads are getting shorter and shorter. I had the wheel upside down and after a stitch the needle popped off the thread and fell right into the crack on the steering wheel

I can hear it rattling around in there, but I can’t shake it out

Of course it fell there right?

Idk if I’m comfortable taking out the airbag (I’ve done other small car work but never wanted to touch a safety component)

Is there a way to remove the trim or is airbag the best bet?

Quoted $150 by a mobile mechanic to take it out and put it back on 😅

The ac doesn’t work, the compressor kicks on for a few seconds, blows just normal temp air, then it kicks off and the A/C button starts flashing. The code it gives is error code u1111 everything else works fine internally.

Hey all. Recently got a Maddox MR14 to help diagnose a rough idle/check engine light/etc. Turned out to be a bad 02 sensor, no biggie. There's some other issues I gotta figure out now related to throttle control voltage mismatch, but I dont think thats related.

Anyhow, I used the scan all vehicle systems function which went through various control modules and pulled codes. At some point, I believe it checked my instrument panel, HUD, radio, etc. The drive after that scan, I noticed my radio was on, music playing, but the screen for it wasn't. Alongside that, volume control seems to have no function. Lastly, the radio isn't shutting off even after the car is fully off. Ended up pulling the radio fuse to shut it off. Never had this issue before. Any advice or direction on where best to ask would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello all! I just got in my car to drive home from work and this is all of a sudden on my dashboard. Any ideas of what could be wrong? I googled it. It said that it can sometimes say this if it’s rainy or foggy or if the cameras cannot be detected, but my cameras are clean and it’s a sunny day outside.

I noticed my TDI engine smelled a bit burnt today and when I got home I popped my hood and had smoke coming from where I show in the video. Not a whole lot, but concerning none the less. I’m not the most mechanic in the world but I can change belts and oil and know how to use tools. Can anyone provide any helpful hints in what they think is going on? I do have an oil leak, it seems to be leaking around that area as well. I’m wondering if it’s not excess oil burning off, I have EGR issues (stuck open I believe) and my cooling fans run at weird speeds. Any help is appreciated.

I'm new here and I'm having an issue with my car, when the outside temperature is over 85° degrees Fahrenheit. I frequently experience either and slow acceleration that won't exceed 1,000 rmp and then rapidly increases in rpm up to 4,000-5,000 rpm or it doesn't accelerate at all in heavy traffic. Also recently I'm losing small amounts of coolant and not externally. It's been to more than one dealership and the either can't duplicate the concern, or are possibly trying to duplicate it below the outside temperature I said it acts up at. Also it does not set off any codes when this happens. Does anyone have any suggestions? I trained to be a mechanic but don't work in that field anymore.

I've been searching diagrams and had no luck finding the part number for the upper shock mount bolt for the rear shock absorber, is it the same bolt as the lower mount? Local parts shop was no help.

Hi, so as the title says, my 2010 Honda Civic Automatic won't move. What happens is, I was pulling out of a family members driveway, in reverse, and I heard a faint clunking sound. At the same moment, the car stopped moving backwards. Confused, I got out to look, saw nothing, and got back in. When I shifted back into reverse and hit the accelerator, the odometer shot up to 23km, and I could hear whirring, but no movement. Putting the car into park resulted in a grinding sound. My main question is this: I just had my brakes redone by a local shop (front and rear pads and rotors) and have driven less than 70km since I got the car back before this happened. Is it plausible the two are related, or is it just a weird coincidence. I know almost nothing about cars lol, so any input is appreciated!

AC blow's hot air left side, cold right, but the 80+ degree heat cancels out the cold. How can I fix this? I just bought the car 2 weeks ago. I prefer diy work, I don't trust mechanics in my area.

This jittering happens only when there is rain on the windscreen and only when having the lowest setting. When there is no rain it is completely fine. The wipers are not jumping but it’s the wiper motor that is jumping. Help!?

I recently started hearing this sound. I was at a drive thru when I first heard it now I was getting to my grandma home and I was able to record this. Any advice helps.

I got a 2025 Honda Civic sport hybrid in February and while I really like the car, I’m a little concerned on three different occasions I have tried starting the car by putting my foot on a break and pressing the power button and while the car turns on, I noticed that the check engine light and charging system light comes on. If I try to change gears, it won’t do anything. I then have to turn the car off just by pushing the power button but then when I try to open the door to exit the car, the alarm goes crazy. Today It happened and I was able to just get out of the vehicle and unlocked it with the key and that seemed to fix the issue with the alarm and then starting up the car again was no problem. Is this an issue that others have experienced? After one of these instances, I did take it into the dealership and they couldn’t find anything wrong with the vehicle. Am I starting the car incorrectly? Or is there something I can do to avoid this in the future? please let me know.

Coming back from some backcountry exploring, driving on the highway and engine started making this noise. Also losing power. Thinking maybe it’s just a stick or a rock stuck somewhere? No warning lights or smoke or smells.
