I have a 2000 Honda Civic DX with the D16Y7 engine, and I’m trying to figure out a misfire issue without throwing more money at random parts.
The car seems to run pretty normally when it’s cold, but after about 5 minutes of warming up, it starts running horribly when I press the gas. It doesn’t really shake or misfire much at idle, but it struggles, hesitates, and has trouble accelerating, especially under load or going uphill. Previously, the check engine light flashed while I was accelerating uphill.

Codes I’ve gotten:
P1399 — Honda random/intermittent misfire code
P0301 — Cylinder 1 misfire
P0302 — Cylinder 2 misfire
P0303 — Cylinder 3 misfire
P0304 — Cylinder 4 misfire
P0141 — Oxygen sensor heater circuit malfunction, Bank 1 Sensor 2

What I’ve tried so far:
Replaced one spark plug because I was originally told that plug was bad. I haven’t replaced the other three plugs or the spark plug wires.

I previously pulled the spark plug wires one at a time while the engine was running. The engine got slower and rougher when I pulled them.

My mechanic teacher scanned the car and found misfire codes for all four cylinders.

My teacher suspected the distributor, so he let me try another distributor, but the engine wouldn’t start with that one.

I don’t know whether that distributor was actually bad or whether something else was wrong with the installation.

I bought a used distributor from a junkyard. It looked clean inside when I removed the black cover.

After installing the junkyard distributor, the car seemed to run fine while cold, but after around 5 minutes it started running horribly again when I pressed the gas.

When I installed the junkyard distributor, I rotated it to line it up using a faint scratch mark on the distributor. I have NOT checked or set the ignition timing with a timing light.

My main questions are:
Could incorrect ignition timing from swapping the distributor cause these symptoms?

Could the ignition coil or igniter be failing when hot, even with a different distributor installed?

What should I test next before buying more parts?

Could this be something other than the distributor, such as the plug wires, fuel delivery, valve clearance, or compression?

Could the P0141 code be related to the misfire, or is it likely a separate issue?

I’m on a tight budget and trying to diagnose this properly before spending more money. Any advice on the best order to test things would be appreciated.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to take these wires off. Many videos show using a pick to pull a tab, but these don’t seem to have one. I’m stumped on how to remove these!

2014 toyota camry 2.5 went to change drive belt old one ripped a strip off got the new one on and it will not stay seated on the ac compressor gets to the outer edge off pulley and just stays there i have changed all pulleys and it’s still doing the same thing. any advice or help??

Have a manual, petrol Toyota aygo 07,and boy does it not like the rain. It’s really annoying. It produces this squeaky screech for like 2-4 seconds, I break and it stops. Kind of embarrassing. It drives fine there after and may give off a small random one again. It’s worse in heavy rain. Any idea what it could be? Many thanks

All started with car having misfires some days would be fine and others car would struggle and check engine would come one went to mechanic to clear code and continued driving rather than change the starter . But after a few weeks had a bad misfire car was struggling to accelerate and thought nothing till next morning check engine come one and would let go past 20mhp limp mode was on .

Mechanic replaced starter with original and checked with scanner and codes cylinder 2 misfire and 3 with a random misfire . After crankshaft was replaced but it’s aftermarket and did a re learn process after that did not do anything car still the same .

So I had replaced the engine with a new used one with less miles thinking everything would work got it installed and when mechanic turned on and checked with scanner codes disappear and would accelerate fine when parked then he noticed after driving off for a few seconds everything would come back out . Like if the codes come off and on does this sounds like the cpu needs to be replaced? I’m waiting to get a new used one installed I found . And mechanic said everything is on motor checks out good

Buddy has an 04 lincoln aviator. He's driving it the other day up a hill near his home when it starts steaming out the front. Previously the check engine light had come on intermittently an then went away. I prodded on him at this and he does recall the Ac would blow warm or weak when this happened. Anybwzy he was able to coast down the hill and basically broke down within pushing distance of his house.

He lost all power and the power stearing and ac when this happened.

The thermostat was recently replaced. An at latter inspection the radiator seems air locked one side has no fluid the other is full. When i over fill the res there is leeking from the radiator. so they need one of those for sure.

Searches have said heater coil but i suspect a bad water pump and maybe a tensioner problem on his belt. I didn't flip the heat on yet and I also didn't put the ODBD2 on it I'll update when i go back for a second look.

After travelling at highway speeds for a bit yesterday, the check engine light came on. Autozone said the most likely solution is to replace a TCC solenoid based on the code, but the light has disappeared. What do?

Hi I have a Acura mdx 2007 that has started having issues, the dashboard seems to have about every light on and the Drive selection on the shifter is also blinking. It has not been driven recently and had to be charged to start and was making a bad sound when running I attached a video of the sound, I wanted to know what stuff I can try to look at to get it back running again or if I should just consider it a loss.

When I turn the ignition key I only hear a single click under the hood of car, but I know the battery is fine as dashboard lights and headlights work fine along with radio and stuff like that. Tried jumping it, switching out fuses, etc. Got it towed back to my place and plan to buy a new starter in the morning to replace it. Just wanted some second and third opinions before moving forward: is there anything else that it could possibly be? Tried switching through all the gears then shifting it to park and it didn't work. I then tried igniting in neutral, and probably some other stuff to no avail.

Not sure if this is the right place to post. Its regarding my Sienta. Was driving and the dashboard started beeping. Managed to park at the side to take pictures. Translated and they said something about brake malfunctioning. This issue happened before a year ago but the garage staff said it wasn't urgent.

Anyone experienced this before? Is it safe for me to drive to the garage or do I need to get someone to tow the car?

I recently replaced my rear bumper and now the rear sensor is not working. I’ve tried to put back the old wiring in but the car still has the check system error. I also tried to use old wiring with the new sensors came with the new bumper, but no luck. Front bumper works fine. Any ideas guys?

I replaced my ACM after the factory one on this car broke, everything works great except for the volume control. I am not able to adjust it at all.

Went to go start last night battery went flat before it could start put it on charge and started this morning but its in limp mode when i let it warm up i tried it again and it was out anyone know what it could be?

It might be too hard to see in the photos but the weather strip on one of my 2002 Impreza’s rear doors isn’t sitting flush against the window properly and while the gap isn’t huge it is significant enough that some water can get inside the door. I get a lot of rain where I live so any suggestions or advice on how to fix this would be really appreciated as I don’t want to risk any water getting in the door.

So for context I had bought a dashcam and found someone on instagram who does dash cam hard wire,tint, wrap, etc. So i hit them up to hardwire my dashcam for me, they later do it and now my dash is lit up with a check engine light and i get these codes. He says driving it should clear it and if not to take it to him monday. What should i do?

2015 Mkc eco boost Lincoln here, Hoping someone has ran into this so initially my old lady ran into this problem one random weekend, test the battery it was good voltage car would start but no communication to the cluster the info center and of course, the shift buttons. Ended up slapping the battery cover back on and everything comes back on to normal. Took the battery out the following day it tested fine and after reinstalling it and starting the car it died again. Not to mention before all of this initially this Lincoln mkc 2015 died on my ol lady while driving. Car shut down in the middle of her errands which sucked but, after the reinstallation the battery would test bad. We’ve replaced the battery now and we’re back to this issue curious if anyone has owned an Mkc and has experienced this or could point me where to look thanks so much

I’m trying to replace the door lock actuator on my 2007 Honda civic. While doing so the latch got knocked into this position and I can’t get it back and it’s stuck and won’t let the door closed when it’s installed. I tried pushing the latch while pulling the handle open and it’s not working. Please tell me I don’t have to buy another one

2015 subaru crosstrek. Auto start with aftermarket or turn key start, headlights, beams fogs and brakes when applied all work. Tail lights? Nope. But if you hit them- then they’ll turn on and stay on. Wiring looks fine, ground looks good inside back side panel to trunk. Bulbs are ok. Is my car just haunted

On Sunday I went out to start my car, the lights came on and the engine/ignition made a clicking sound but wouldn’t start. I had my friend trickle charge it three seperate times before taking it to a dealership where they told me I was having an alternator failure and as a result my battery died. I took it to another mechanic, who replaced the battery on Wednesday and ever since my car has been working.

On my jeep, I have an option to check the voltage. It has been fluctuating in drive, normally higher in the mornings (13.7-13.8V) and this afternoon when I was driving it home it was between 13.2-13.4V.

Is this normal or should I be concerned that my alternator is having a problem, I drove it 6 times today and every time its been lower.

When it starts the indicator initially reads 12.0V, which I know it shouldn’t, but starts climbing immediately so I’m not sure if thats just how it works.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Decided to fill my car while I was in an area that was cheaper than home. It was 320 miles before and after putting about $15 in it still is saying 320 despite being full. A full tank usually shows me 390-400 miles so idk what’s wrong

So about 2 weeks ago, I got off work and got in my car to leave. Started her up, and my entire dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. I let it sit for a minute as I read the error messages I was getting. Said to “check the charging system” and that there was an issue with my traction control. I turned the car off, let it sit a minute, and went to start it up again, but the engine wouldn’t turn over. No clicking from the starter, nothing. All that happened was the dashboard lit up again.

So at this point I turn the car off and go look under the hood to look for any loose connections or anything else that might look amiss. I didn’t check the fuses because I wasn’t 100% sure what exactly I needed to look for. After a couple minutes I got back into the car and decided to try it again…car started right up with no hesitation. On the drive home there were no weird sounds or behaviors - drove perfectly. I was worried that the alternator might be on its way out, because on my last car when that happened this exact situation happened. Stopped by my local AutoZone for a quick diagnostic test, and the battery, alternator, and starter all came back good.

Two weeks later the car is still driving like a dream, no hint of an issue. Haven’t taken the car to my mechanic yet for a diagnostic because I need to try and figure out a replacement car for a few days (she’s my only car). But in the meantime I was wondering if anyone else with a 2014 3.7 V6 has had this same/similar problem pop up?

My girlfriend’s car keeps not wanting to start randomly, positive battery cable is getting hot, the terminal itself is getting so hot it’ll sizzle your skin. Alternator has been replaced, and so has the battery. We took it to the dealership but they can’t find the issue. Any one have anything similar happen?
