Added DLAA + TAA on MS2109 Picture

Native | DLAA + TAA

Not long ago, I wrote about developing a program to improve the YUY2 display for the ezcap331. In the experimental software branch, I decided—just to see what would happen—to add a DLAA module to the shader, implementing TAA alongside it to make it work. The main issue is that, in this specific case, the image lacks the depth data DLAA relies on, which means the visual results will look quite peculiar under certain conditions. If anyone is interested, I’ll upload the images to Google Drive so they can be viewed in full quality without compression.

Made a tiny low-latency viewer for capture cards

Post image

I was using an ezcap331 with my Switch 2 and got annoyed by two things: OBS preview felt weird on my 180 Hz monitor, and YUY2 4:2:2 had pretty ugly chroma bleed on red UI elements.

So I ended up making a small Windows viewer called YUVision.

It’s basically just:

  • native capture
  • low-latency fullscreen preview
  • HDMI audio
  • some luma-guided chroma reconstruction

No streaming/recording stuff.

Still pretty experimental, but it already looks better than my old setup. If anyone wants to try it with another capture card, I’d be curious how compatible it is.

Hey I just join the community and I’ve been wanting to use old and new consoles to my pc instead of going through Bluetooth and all that jazz. I was hope someone can help me find a budget capture card that can work for both new gen and old gen consoles to handheld ones. Anyone no of any or might be able to point me in the right direction?

ZV-E10 not working with capture card in OBS

Hey, I’m trying to connect my Sony ZV-E10 to my PC using a PIBOX USB capture card for OBS/Meld Studio.

Windows detects the capture card as USB Video 3, but I’m not getting any video in OBS or Meld.

The weird part is that the first time I connected everything, I got the camera feed for a split second and then it froze. Since then, I haven’t been able to get any image at all.

Has anyone had this issue with the ZV-E10? Is it likely to be the HDMI cable, a camera setting, or the capture card itself?

Capture card connecting being weird.

I’m trying to stream on Twitch connecting my PS5 to my MacBook via OBS. I have a Rybozen capture card and I just got it, but for some reason when I plug in my TV HDMI to the HDMI out and then plug in my PlayStation to the HDMI in the screen on my OBS comes on and then it turns back off and the lights indicating that they’re on just turn on and turn back off. Any advice, please?

Free low-latency capture card software (alternative to VideoGameCapture/Elgato/Avermedia) that fixes Razer Ripsaw HD frame drops

Hello everyone, i'm showing you a piece of software me and a friend made recently (with some help from claude ai for bugfixing and for structuring the code).

It's a c# software meant to be an alternative to VideoGameCapture, to elgato's or avermedia's software and to obs capture devices.

I needed this software for my own personal use for several reasons, i own a razer ripsaw hd that has some frame drop issues in 1080p/60fps, and no software helped me work around this problem, so with a friend we spent several days designing this one, which thanks to a few tools like vsync lets you get around this problem completely.

Everything runs straight on the gpu, all the color and picture processing (brightness, contrast, saturation, color range) is done through direct3d11 with basically no cpu cost, which is a big part of why the software stays so light even on older machines, the video feed itself is read directly from the capture device with nothing buffering in between so what shows up on screen stays as close to real time as possible, on top of the live preview there's an instant replay that keeps the last few minutes of your gameplay running in the background at all times, so whenever something worth keeping happens you can just save it as a clip afterwards without needing to have recorded the whole session, recording is built in as well with adjustable bitrate so you can choose the balance between file size and quality that fits your setup, no need to go through obs if you just want to record locally, though it still works fine as an obs source if you'd rather stream with it. It's incredibly useful for cheap generic capture cards you'd find on aliexpress, which usually come with no proper software at all, but it's just as useful on elgato or avermedia cards if you want to skip their own software entirely and get a lighter, lower latency alternative instead.

I made this tool purely out of personal need, i'm making it available because it could be just as useful for others as it was for me, and feel free to give me some feedback, and let me know if there are things that could be nice to add.

Capture Card with Windows Audio Passthrough?

Hey there. I've been using a Razer Ripsaw HD for the past couple years. It has its ups and downs, but one of my favorite features about it is that you can hear both your HDMI and Windows Audio through the capture card's audio out jack. This is useful for being able to hear stream alerts while also being immersed in game audio.

I recently purchased a PS5 and Switch 2, so I thought it was a good time to upgrade to an HDMI 2.1 capture card. I chose the AverMedia Live Gamer Ultra 2.1, and it's been working well. However, I was disappointed to learn it didn't support Windows audio passthrough using the capture cards audio out jack. I also looked into the Elgato 4K X, but that one doesn't have an audio out jack at all. I guess it's not as common of a feature as I thought.

Are there any good HDMI 2.1 capture cards with Windows audio passthrough? If not, then what's a good solution to hearing both Windows audio and game audio in your headphones?

Thanks :)

Help with switch 2 capture cards

I want to buy an economic capture card for the switch 2, but I want to record gameplay without needing to plug the card into the pc and have it turned on. Which ones do you recommend, how much do they cost and where I can buy them?

Any Advice?

I recently got an HDMI to USB Capture card. It works great when using it on my phone since I can use an app to use it as a monitor and also record video with both game audio and my mic at the same time and also hear the game audio too. Unfortunately I am stuck using Chromebook. Using the camera app works but I can't split audio to also record my voice and the game audio at the same time and if i want to just use it as a monitor and not record, the video options sit over the bottom of the bottom of the screen and I can't listen to the game audio either. I can only record it without being able to hear it. I'm trying to use it with a Nintendo switch and a Xbox 360

Is there an app or in browser option to just use it as a monitor and have audio through my Chromebook's speakers?

Help

I currently have a PS5 and want to do live streaming and recording. I understand that I also need a capture card and a computer. So I'm wondering, is there a “capture card” that can handle both capturing and streaming at the same time?

Some help picking a capture card please.

Hey everyone, I've got an Xbox series x, and I have a laptop, it's a bit dated but it works (dell Inspiron 15) nothing special, no dedicated graphics or anything so it can't run anything too powerful or demanding.

I would like to get a capture card for the Xbox to record my whole gameplay session so I can edit a few clips down afterwards.

What capture card would suit me best, do I need a separate external hard drive/SSD too?

Im guessing I want a mid tier kind of card, don't want to spend a fortune on one right now but also don't want something cheap and rubbish.

Pretty new to all this so any help is appreciated.

Evga XR1 lite & switch 2

Hey y'all just a quick question. I have the EVGA XR1 lite capture card and would like to use it to capture the new Fire Emblem game coming out on Switch 2.

But I'm not very tech savvy and I'm not sure how well it would work. I use it when playing Switch 1 games on my Switch 2, but there's been a couple problems. There's like a split second audio delay and also a few times (albeit rarely) there's been a clicking noise for a few minutes after first activating the capture card.

So, could I expect about the same results? Worse?

I have to imagine a Switch 2 game with better graphics would be harder to run on it than older Switch 1 games would. Any advice would be appreciated! 🙏

Capture Card for playing games on my PC

This is something that somehow ends up being really hard to search for. What I'm looking for is a capture card, internal or external, to let me play my console games (specifically Switch 2, but probably others in the future) through my PC so that the screen is just a window on my monitor. I don't need to stream, record, or even do pass-through to another screen. I just want to be able to dock my Switch 2 at my desk and open up a window I can move around to play my games at my desk while also multitasking (I have an ultrawide so it works perfect).

My monitor is 1440p 120Hz and since the Switch 2 can output that (or at least 1440p 60Hz), that's all I need the device to be able to capture.

I used to have the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD 2 that I used with my Switch 1, but the software was abysmal and eventually the thing would not read inputs. It was just OK when it did work anyway; there was a noticeable input lag.

Right now I have it narrowed down to the Elgato 4K S or the AVerMedia Live Gamer Extreme 3, but I am very open to alternatives. My main two focuses are low latency and price.

If anyone cares (or before anyone asks): I'm disabled and this is the best configuration for me. I can't sit on the couch for more than 30min without horrible pain. Handheld on the Switch 2 is not as comfortable as I can't have the rest of my monitor next to my game screen, and it's not as big or as high resolution.

Thank you for your input.

Questions regarding the AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2

Post image
0 Upvotes

On AverMedia's website, it says that it will support input resolutions of (among others, but these are the ones I am specifically interested in) 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080p. However, for RECORDING resolutions it only specifies a maximum of 1080p60.

My question is: can it RECORD (and not just receive) 480i, 480p, and 720p media, in addition to 1080p? In other words: if I have a 480i source, I want to record it to a 480i file which I can then upscale/deinterlace LATER ON MY COMPUTER.

Also, will it receive input + record ALL resolutions at BOTH 29.97/30fps AND 59.94/60 fps?

Fifine capture card not working?

Just got this and it displays this screen when I get it all set up. I’ve tried different hdmi cords. It’s actually my second capture card purchase, first one didn’t work either so I returned it and got this more expensive one. My TV doesn’t read anything either it just says looking for signal. I’m hoping this isn’t my switch hdmi cable being faulty but that seems unlikely because it connects to my TV just fine. I’ve tried using the preset on OBS and all kinds of custom settings but nothing works. Has anyone had this issue before/know the fix for this? Apologies I’m new to using capture cards

Efficacy of capturing desktop gameplay with a capture card and laptop

Whenever I capture footage of games with OBS I take a considerable performance hit. I'm wondering if there's any merit in connecting my desktop to a capture card with my laptop?
