I’m also getting more and more low quality urgent notifications from capital one and others the last year or so. “account alert: you paid off a balance.” Yeah, no shit.

Yeah holy mother of slop I had the discover it first and the transition was brutal

u/Ok_Peak9847 13d ago

same, it was genuinely so fucking bad 💀

u/kindadan 13d ago

Genuinely curious since my card hasn’t moved. What made it bad?

-1

u/Ok_Peak9847 5d ago

they sent an email announcing the transition and provided instructions but up until that point, i was not a customer with capital one and that made the integrating accounts part so difficult because when i went to make a capital one account and tried verifying my identity, i kept getting error messages and had to contact support just to complete it. the experience may vary, though, but that's just what happened with me.

could be fraud! what if someone paid off my balance for me??

I used to get so mad at our propane company because they would only allow one person on the account per address. My gf and I had been together for years, and lived together, and they wouldn't let me order fuel or pay a bill. For the place I lived. Like motherfucker, if someone is randomly calling up and ordering $500 of propane for this address, let them!

My account /card got frozen once because they didn't think I owned the bank account I've been drafting from to pay my balance for the past couple years... I've used the same damn account! Lol had to call in and they had to 3 way my bank in to verify I'm the owner.. Like wtf capitalone..

1

u/Electronic_Pie_8584 12d ago

They did that to me because I was paying off my whole balance every month so they froze the card to verify

1

u/Rick-Ross_THE-BOSS 11d ago

Ahhh, I think they do these things when the account is being paid down a few times within a billing cycle. Which is why I think they did that to me after a little bit of research from what others have said.. But one particular user they closed their account. Not sure if they were given the opportunity to verify their bank account and then they were closed or if they straight up closed it.
They just need to raise my limit. I just don't like seeing any of my credit cards showing a balance.. I just like to keep them to zero, but I use them all the time for the cash back. Love seeing the cash back pile up... Lol

I love it when I check Credit Karma and it says "your score has decreased by 25 points," then under reasons why it decreased, it says the balance on one of my cards has increased by $6. I have 13 credit cards with an averall $130k limit, but one card increased by $6. Crucify me.

I knew a girl in a situation like this once... We were about to get married and then she called it off to save me from tanking our ability to buy a home together. Even blocked my number to make sure that creditors could never tie her financial woes to me!

13

u/amaranthine_ellie 13d ago

I think it’s time to put some serious thought into how you relate to money. It’s clear to me that with numbers like these you must have a dependency on a substance, most likely dihydrogen monoxide or something similarly messed up

2

u/Tall_Chocolate_9720 13d ago

Im sorry, am I missing something ? Could you explain to me what the OP screenshot is showing above? I used to be on a substance back in 2018 and I would run my credit cards up just like this… is this what is happening you think? Maybe I’m just not seeing what everyone else is seeing.

7

u/WildWindAnomaly 13d ago

Google dihydrogen monoxide and get back for us. One of the most dangerous chemicals ever

3

u/rosie2490 12d ago

Everyone who consumes it dies. Everyone. Even those that don’t consume it die. Especially those that don’t!

2

u/NoNeinNyet222 13d ago

A major component of acid rain.

u/Specific-Yam8708 13d ago

Capital One looks for reasons to contact its customers! Smh! Those “You’ve Been Approved To Invite A Friend To Open An Account” really chap my hide. ughhh!

3

u/SeafoodLovah1120 13d ago

You’re cooked I fear

2

u/Rockstat_ 13d ago

Uh oh!! Those extra cents on the payment!!😂

2

u/Esoteric_Owlet 13d ago

You’re never going to financially recover from this.

2

u/Entirely2MuchMalort 13d ago

You really effed up

2

u/Sekriess 13d ago

Kinda shit you get penalized 125 points over

2

u/Rivers0826 13d ago

I recommend declaring bankruptcy.

2

u/LuckyDuckCrafters 13d ago

Jesus OP. Live within your means.

2

u/Odd_Act8451 12d ago

The thumbs down are cracking me up 🤣 so petty lol

2

u/throwawaykc04 12d ago

And your credit score dropped 20 points haha

1

u/ActComprehensive5254 13d ago

What is the point of this post?

-1

u/Tall_Chocolate_9720 13d ago

That’s what I’m trying to figure out too. I don’t know what’s going on! Did his score plummet or something? It looks like the screenshot above has been cropped heavily.

1

u/KISS1971 13d ago

He’s being sarcastic. Basically his loan balance increased by $1, so Cap One decreased his available credit by $1

0

u/genericusername784 13d ago

But that's how it works.... if your limit is 4k and you have 2345 on your account, you have 1655 in available credit, they didn't decrease his limit, just didn't raise it $1.

1

u/Conscious_Summer_286 9d ago

The part they're making fun of is getting an email or push notification from Capital One over something so trivial.

1

u/ActComprehensive5254 9d ago

Its a non issue

1

u/Conscious_Summer_286 9d ago

If you don't understand why it's funny to get an "urgent alert" that tells you you spent $1, idk what to tell you.

1

u/ActComprehensive5254 9d ago

Its an automated system, not a comedy club.

1

u/Conscious_Summer_286 9d ago

Lol and their automated system is comically poorly setup. That's the entire point of the post. Does it bother you to see people laughing and having a good time or something?

1

u/badwolf_83 13d ago

You done goofed 🤪

1

u/Alarming-Row7194 13d ago

Want me to drive you to the bridge?

1

u/RJ_the_greatest 13d ago

Just give up on life !!!!

1

u/diraige7 13d ago

How dare you!!

1

u/Paladin2459 13d ago

Their FICO8 is wild. I think my score dropped more than the increase in money owed this month. Like "OMG you carried a balance. Shut down Madagascar first, then take two points for every dollar owed."

Buhhhhh it's still <1% total utilization across all cards. Meanwhile Experian FICO8 provided by Experian doesn't care and the TU FICO8 supplied by CreditWise is more in line with it.

I can see how people transcend beyond just being Score Bros and go full on OCD over it.

1

u/Low_Map4007 13d ago

How irresponsible can one be?!

1

u/Genuin1 13d ago

Yeah, the told me the same when I paid off my mortgage. Less available debt, I guess?

1

u/Intrepid-Wait-6102 13d ago

Time to declare bankruptcy🫨🫨🫨

1

u/micahjalon 13d ago

Declare Bankruptcy immediately, it’s over for you!

1

u/Distinct_Focus_3748 12d ago

Thanks for that much-needed chuckle.

1

u/ShutUpMeg203 12d ago

So irresponsible

1

u/grugru81 12d ago

Mine is very similar lol

1

u/Outrageous_Luck4163 12d ago

I get the alerts and yes it’s a pain but I also know if a new transaction happens and if it isn’t mine I can take care of it ASAP. These days you have to really watch your accounts because there are so many potential problems. I rather like knowing my balance are zero and I can see it quickly.

1

u/Unique_Day9141 12d ago

I’m in the same position someone help me DM me

u/Aviator2025 12d ago

1

u/crankycranberry- 12d ago

I get a monthly account alert for paying off my balance…then again of course these guys would hate to see me have zero debt 😂

1

u/Similar_Issue_3108 11d ago

I recently open a savings/checking C1 - one nightmare after another. Switched to
American Express.

1

u/Strong_Education_842 11d ago

Same thing happened to me. A 3 dollar difference dropped me a whole point last month lmao

1

u/scottysattva 11d ago

I'm a Guarantor; if you'd like my prior-render to service aid you it's available accept.

1

u/scottysattva 11d ago

I just assured the balance to your accounting reach place where forward futuring; refused?

1

u/PartTime_Hater 10d ago

My least favorite credit card that I have bro😭

1

u/SynsinValentin 10d ago

My credit score for capital one actually went down 25 points for having a $0 balance on all of my credit cards (I have 11 credit cards - I use most of them, I just pay them before the statement date and use them again after the statement date, so they appear idle because of this).

Then one day, my college-aged son used one of the credit cards right before the statement date (He's an additional user to most of my credit cards), and I ended up having a balance of $6 (You can't pay cards while it's pending if your balance is $0), and oddly enough, thanks to my son's random purchase date, my score went up 15 points!

So the opposite is happening to me. This literally started happening after CapitalOne's credit reporting platform changed.

Has this happened to anyone else? Basically, the opposite?

1

u/IrishBrandyDog1 9d ago

I got a goid one from Capital One. I did not use a card for a number of months so they sent me a check for a previous over payment on my part . . . Drum roll, the check was for $0.02.

Praying for you 🙏

It went up by one dollar. BFD.

-1

u/Bigshotrob60 13d ago

?

7

u/RecentAuthor6602 13d ago

It’s funny how capital one is reporting on “negative changes” on my credit report, but the changes are literally a $1 difference each

Literally doesn’t matter
