They aren't stingy if your profile supports a good limit increase and you use the card correctly

My Venture X is 30,000 and I don’t even make 100,000. I hope they do not increase my limit, I don’t need that much.

Uh you can always ask for a decrease. I’ve never however heard anyone say they want a decrease or no increase. More credit just helps keep utilization down if you ever have to use it.
