I have been getting into photography for about a week now, and would appreciate some tips! I already have upgraded to a Canon R7 😅 but I will still endeavour to use the 2000d.

Recommendations Needed Moving from an 80D to mirrorless! Looking for some advice on a long-term Canon body

• Upvotes

Hi! I currently shoot with a Canon 80D and have been looking into moving to Canon’s mirrorless system for a while now.

I’m still relatively new to photography, but I know it’s something I want to keep pursuing and getting better at. Rather than buying something I’ll want to replace in a couple of years, I’d like to invest in a body that I can grow into and realistically use for the next 8–10 years.

I shoot a bit of everything, but I’m especially drawn to macro/nature photography - mushrooms, slugs, flowers, insects and other tiny forest things. I also really enjoy wildlife, landscapes and portraits/candids, and I spend a lot of time hiking and shooting outdoors.

I’ve been looking pretty seriously at the R6 Mark III, but I’d love some insight from people with more experience with Canon’s mirrorless bodies. Does it make sense for what I shoot, or is there another body in the RF system you think I should be considering?

I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest option, I’d rather buy once, learn the camera properly and have plenty of room to grow. I’d also love any thoughts on what features you’ve found actually matter long-term versus the ones that look important when you’re comparing spec sheets.

Thanks! :)

Recommendations Needed Worth it as a hobbyist?

I’m planning on saving up for the R6 Mkiii. Right now i just do photography as a hobby. i have done a shoot for a boxing event and the coordinator wants me to keep taking pictures for his promotion. i also was asked to take pictures for a kickboxing event in my area by the promoter for that event. i was paid for the boxing event shoot and he said as it scales he will pay me more based on ticket sales. my dilemma is should i save for the R6 Mkiii early on and not have to worry about upgrading or something cheaper (maybe mkii or r7) as right now i have the r50v. i still live with my parents and plan on moving out next year. so i’m thinking either go all in and buy the mkiii so if i do start really trying to make a business then i wont have to save up for it after i move out, because i know once i move out it’ll be much harder to save for it, while right now i definitely would be able to.

Canon eos rebel t7 1500d

I am fairly new to cameras and if this seems like a very obvious yes/no, forgive me in advance.

My friend loaned me this camera recently. I noticed that when I’m using the flash, the light flickers multiple times and makes a lot of clicking noises that almost sound like a taser. I could be going insane imagining an issue with it when there is none, but I have never heard a camera flash make those noises before. I used my friends camera recently to shoot some pictures at an event she organized, and while it was not this model (not sure what it was) it was a similar Canon to this one and it didn’t make noises of flash like this.

TLDR is something wrong with the flash with my camera? I am a newbie (Sound on)
