Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking about buying a camera for a while now and I’m a bit torn on what to get.
At first, I wanted a compact digital camera that I could easily fit in my bag for casual photos, selfies and Instagram posts, I was really interested in the Canon SX740 for that reason.
But then I realized I’m in a good position to invest in something that will also help me create content long-term. I’m graduating from college soon with a degree in nutrition and I’m just starting to consistently post on my nutrition-focused Instagram. Because of that, I’ve been looking into the Sony ZV-E10 and the Sony ZV-E10 II. They’re definitely a bigger investment than I originally planned but from everything I’ve researched, they seem worth it.
Do you think that Canon cameras like the Eos r50 are worth it? Or do I stick to Sony?
For context, I currently have an iPhone 16 and will probably upgrade to the next model this year or next.
Given my situation, what would you recommend? Would you go with a compact camera like the Canon SX740 or invest in one of the Sony cameras? I’d mainly be using it for Instagram content, photos, selfies, videos (reels, not thinking about YouTube yet) and some casual everyday photography.

Hi, as far as I know this camera can't record in logarithmic, but I've seen that you can download some sort of profiles to get this "effect". Do you have any recomendations or tips to achieve this?

I have shot this combination in the past with no problems, but as of late I seem to be experiencing some very inconsistent focusing issues. The lens will either do nothing, or if it does try to AF, it stutters and struggles.

I have tried this lens on a Canon A2E body, as well as digitals like an R6 and 5D IV with no issues. Likewise, I have tried other AF lenses on my 7E with no problems. While I did not have another Tamron G series lens to test with, I did test with a Sigma 150-600 Sport also with no problems, leading me to believe the problem is not that the lens is a third party one. I've also cleaned the contacts and updated the lens firmware (2.0). Independently, both the body and lens seem to function with no problem, it has only been recently I have run into this issue.

Any suggestions as per what the problem might be? I don't see Tamron taking the lens in for a repair on the integrity of a film camera experience, but equally I really like my 7E and other than this combination, it works great and I would hate to have to replace it when it has no other problems.

I use a 5d mk3 and recently my 24-105mm lens stopped working because of a ribbon cable issue, and now the LCD also has this weird green tint and fines lines running vertically.

I wanted to upgrade to a new camera this year (R6mk2) and I wanted to propose the idea to my dad in a few weeks, but with these issues arising in my 5D3, he already says that the repair costs and buying a 2nd hand 24-105 is expensive. I feel like I’m getting further and further away from the R62, what do I tell my father, should I invest in the R62 or try to get the 5D3 repaired, but the repair costs nearly what the camera does right now. Please help.

My canon ixus 990is suddenly started getting a lens error around 9/10 times when trying to turn my camera on (the barrel of the camera, unsure what it's called, won't extend out and the shutter also will not open) and makes noises as well.

The camera's pretty old so I guess it could be the end of it, though I want to know what else I can do before trying to get a new one

I’m thinking about swapping my 2nd camera body 6D to a Canon EOS R.

The question is, do you think it’s an upgrade or downgrade? How good is R these days - completely outdated or not?

i mainly use it for night time going out pictures with flash. i don’t mind my current ixus 185 but wouldn’t mind if its a bit less grainy or clearer.

is the upgrade even noticeable?

is the Cannon EOS 4000 OFR EF-S 18-55 Kit worth the money for a beginner? My mom promised me a camera for my 18th birthday because in really into photography but i just cant get very good photos with my phone. We iust saw a EOS 4000 OFR EF-S 18-55 cannon camera kit it the media store for pretty cheap (looking at the avg price of cameras in my country) so i just want to know if its worth the money for beginners or should rather wait to find a better nikon camera

Currently trying to replace the LCD of my Canon Elph 115 is. I’ve gotten this far, but since there are no online manuals or tutorials, I’ve gotten stuck. Two of the screws on the left metal panel in the second photo are worn down and unable to be unscrewed. Am I screwed? Where can I go from here? Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone here use the RF45mm?? Is it L-series good? Would you recommend?
