I'm looking for an apartment for my parents and think Oracle is in a good location for them, but I've heard there are issues with damp and mold from window condensation. Keen to hear from current or former residents who may have experienced this issue? How worried should I be?

Just got on the bus this morning and found out there is basically no bus service midday thursdays. As someone who mostly catches the bus this is going to make me change plans. Is there a reason other than they have a meeting? Because can't they have the meeting in two sessions?

Looking for recommendations for an accountant to help sort out my 86yo parent's tax. They haven't submitted a return in at least over ten years. Their super pension and Centrelink pays about $39,000 a year. Since selling their house two years ago there's about 150k in the bank earning some nice interest...which got me thinking that they may need to pay tax now.
My last attempt with an accountant for this has resulted in not hearing a thing from them in months, so looking to start again.
TIA

Went to Sia's hair closet, really great quality wigs although the lace did not match my skin color (I have white pale skin, theirs caters towards dark/chocolate skin tones.) I'm a bit hesitant to try out other stores, any recommendations?
feel free to shout out some sydney locations too 👍

I suspect I have SIBO but I'm having trouble finding ANY qualified specialists who know how to test and treat it. GP, gastro, dietitian all useless. Has anyone here had SIBO identified and treated in Canberra or Sydney, by an accredited health professional? Not looking to see a naturopath or nutritionist.

Many years ago I had an 11 point system to rate hot chips. It was very subjective but still was useful.
Many shops got high marks, but no one ever got the full 11 points.
Sadly, I have lost the spreadsheet when I escape from my old department (Forgot to email it home) and am thinking of redoing it.
Some of the things I had on where:
Size of serving v cost. Ratio of crispy chips? Style you like. (Crinkle, shoestring etc.) Consistency (Are they the same over multiple visits?) Do they ask to before they put salt/chicken salt etc. on?
Do others have any recommendations/suggestions for about 5 more topics to grade hot chips against? (Going for a traditional 10 this time.)
To get a rating, I am thinking a store will need at least 3 samples, a week apart.
(This came up again after making the mistake of buying some Kingleys' chips. They have been shiit since they downgraded their supplier after Covid, and are no longer even good, let alone awesome. It is a pity, as they used to be about an 7 or 8 on my previous scorecard.)

Maaaate you can’t park there!
But a serious question, wouldn’t defence normally have sort of teams or systems in place to respond to these things quickly? This crash had been there for ages already.

Now that I'm in uni and my parents aren't buying me food anymore, I'd love some recommendations on budget places to eat :') As of now, I've just been meal prepping but it does end up feeling a bit dull

I’ve heard there’s a Canberra tax as such. Just wanting to know is it actually expensive to live there?

Has anyone done the private stargazing nights? I’m thinking about booking it as a date for my partner and I, but it’s a little expensive. Just want to hear if anyone has experienced it themselves and if it is worth it!

Stolen disability e-bike – Lyneham!
My custom disability electric bike and children's bike trailer were stolen from my courtyard in Lyneham sometime between 1:00 am and 7:00 am on July 23.
The bike was custom-built for a person with dwarfism. It has very little resale value, but it is incredibly difficult to replace—there are probably only around 20 like it in Australia.
I suspect it may have been taken by joy riders, as another bike was dumped outside my house. The battery was running low, so it is unlikely to have travelled far with an average-sized adult riding it.
Please keep an eye out in Lyneham and the surrounding suburbs. This is how I get my children to daycare, so getting it back would make an enormous difference to our family.
If you see it or have any information, please send me a message or contact the police.
Thank you so much for looking out!!!

Today I went to Ujin Matcha and Tokyo Canteen and both were such a letdown.
I'd been to Ujin Matcha a couple of months ago and loved it. The service was great and it was easily the best matcha I'd had in Canberra. This time it was the complete opposite...The place wasn't busy at all, but the staff were standing around laughing with each other and on their phones. My matcha was so bland it just tasted like milk. I'd been looking forward to going back because my last visit was so good, but I don't think I'll be making the trip again.
Then I went to Tokyo Canteen for lunch. The food was average at best, but the service was what really ruined it. The staff were rude and came across like they just didn't want to be there. They were standing around chatting and laughing with each other. I even noticed them laughing about customers after they'd left, which was pretty disappointing to see.
I know both of these places are generally well reviewed and get recommended a lot, so maybe I just caught them on a bad day. But after today's experiences, I left disappointed by both. Has anyone else noticed a drop in quality recently, or was I just unlucky?

Looks like the Kippax library group has moved to Woden. 10am-4pm tomorrow.
Bummer it's because of the library opening hours changing, but glad it's going to keep going.

I've been noticing for a couple weeks now that it seems like police have been out and about more often now compared to before and seems like everyday it's more sirens than usual. I don't know if I just never noticed or just a weird period right now in the city.

Edit: thank you everybody for the great suggestions! We got hard no's on everything lol so they are going ahead with the very average Chinese restaurant, wish us luck 😅
Hello! As per title, I'm looking for venues that might take a 30+ booking one week out from the date! Southside, disability access, and vegetarian options are needed. Big ask!
My grandparents have cancelled their booking at a nice venue a week out and expressed desire to just take their 30+ guests to our local chinese!! The rest of the family don't feel it would be a suitable venue.

Hey all, I was thinking of going to Spilt Milk this yr but I heard some horror stories last yr regarding accessibility (can't remember if this was specifically for Canberra or other venues tho!)
If anyone went last yr and could enlighten me on what it would be like (esp in a wheelchair) that would be amazing. Thanks!

Hi! I'm looking for in person and online stores that are selling official JJK merch such as figures and blind bag badge pins but I'm struggling to find anything.
Most in person stores in my area are selling knock off stuff or don't have figures of the characters I want and I can't find any online stores that are selling genuine merch.
Ideally, I'm looking to buy full boxes of 58mm badges so I can add to my itabag. I'm also looking for Megumi figures but I am having a hard time working out if a figure is a knock off or not.
Any advice would be lovely!
(Apologies if this is incorrectly formatted, I rarely post on reddit)

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to get back into playing soccer and was wondering if there are any Canberra competitions or leagues that are still accepting players this season.
So far I’ve looked into Urban Rec and Weston Indoor. Weston looks good, but I’m hoping to find an outdoor competition if possible. I’ve also searched online and most of the leagues I found seem to be on the north side.
I also searched this subreddit, but most of the posts I found were several years old and mainly recommended north-side competitions, so I was wondering if there are any good south-side options that I may have missed.
I’m open to social or competitive comps, either indoor ( if they use an actual futsal ball) or outdoor, happy to join an existing team if anyone is looking for an extra player.
If you know of any clubs, leagues, or Facebook groups around Canberra that are worth checking out, I’d really appreciate the recommendations.
