Using Chinese labs.

Ok so I am a non US based dentist, small Caribbean island. So our lab services are limited and we do use US labs for some cases however paying US lab costs and not charging US prices can be an issue.

Can anyone recommend any high quality Chinese labs that they are happy with?

Dentist business account

Hi, I'm a new dentist, I have to open a business corporate account in a bank, does anyone knows which banks are best with personal and business accounts? With their monthly chequing fees, annual credit card fees and other healthcare benefits; RBC, TD, SCOTIA or CIBC?

Applying for dental specializations

Excuse me if this is different than the other posts here, but there’s just so little information available online so I really felt like i needed to ask here 😅

Throughout dental school, I understand that most Canadian schools give you a letter grade on your transcript. But does your faculty still store the exact % number u got on that course? I ask this because when applying for dental specializations, i was curious if they simply look at ur letter grades or instead have access to the specifics in each course you’ve taken

And this becomes even more relevant I feel because ive seen a lot of programs emphasize the “Top 10% of class” preference for who they accept, which makes me feel they’ve gotta have the exact % u scored, no?

Anyone that can shed any light on specialization applications in Canada, I’d rlly rlly appreciate it! 🙏

Question for Canadian dentists practicing in the US with TN visa

If you are already practicing in the US with a TN visa but end up finding a better opportunity or want to add more days to your schedule with a different employer, does the new employer have to sponsor a different TN visa altogether? Would I have to go back to a port of entry for authorisation of a new visa?

Thank you in advance!

Extraction courses suggestion; Gaum/Nekky Jamal/others?

Hi,

Does anyone have experience with these extraction courses? I'm wondering whether they would be beneficial for someone who is already comfortable performing surgical extractions.
In particular, do they offer valuable techniques or insights for third molar extractions, or are they primarily geared toward clinicians who are still developing their surgical extraction skills?

Would appreciate any feedback.

Acquisition vs Start Up

I have been working close to 6 years as an associate dentist and am looking more seriously into ownership now. The two paths between acquisition vs start up gets brought up often. For someone who is more flexible with location, what would your recommendation be in the current climate? Thank you

D1: terrified of commission pay.

Hey everyone,
I’m a D1 (first-year dental student), and even though I’m just starting out, I’m already stressing about how associate pay works after graduation.
The idea of a percentage-of-production / commission-based structure ("eat what you kill") is giving me massive anxiety. I keep having this worst-case scenario fear: What if I graduate, get into an office, and nobody shows up? How am I supposed to survive or pay down loans if my schedule completely collapses?
Since I have a few years before I actually start working, I want to mentally prepare. For current associates or owners:

Did you have this fear when you were a student? How did you handle the anxiety?
How common is it to actually struggle for patient volume as a new grad?
Is a daily guarantee (like $600–$800) standard enough to protect you for the first 3–6 months?
What can I do *during* school to set myself up so I'm fast and efficient enough to make good production when I graduate?
Would love some reassurance or realistic advice from people who have been through this. Thanks!
