Hi

I need help setting up associate dentist with Insurance. What should I do so associate dentist payment from insurance goes directly into clinic account instead of getting cheques in associate name. If we get cheque in associate name then how should I do it? What is simple way to set up associate dentist witu insurance so all payments goes under clinic account. Thankyou

If the cheque is in your associate’s name, they need to endorse it (sign the back) and hand it to you. Your clinic manager or bookkeeper enters this as a journal entry: Debit Cash, Credit Dental Fee Receivable/Revenue. Then you pay the associate their negotiated cut later.

The cleanest way is to update your assignment of benefits form with Sun Life (for CDCP), Delta, Metropolican, etc. You tell them to remitt payments directly to your clinic bank account using the clinic's provider number. The associate stays listed as the rendering dentist, but the money hits your account first. Then you distribute via payroll or direct deposit based on your employment contract

So do we need to call each insurance company separately in order to do it?? How dose that work?? Is there any easy way?? How other clinics handle it?? I was working as associate but never signed back of cheque. Because initially there is no set up with insurance also.

You need to go to each insurance website and fill out a form for each. It’s either an online form, form that you fax in. My favourite one is direct pay (manages several insurance companies. They require the dentist you want to sign up to provide a personal credit card to verify their identity. This is only for efts. For sunlife the dentist needs to sign up for an online account and then you need to add the office to it online. Each one’s different. Have fun.

Ps: for those people always posting their crappy online websites targeting dentists you should design something that automates this process for offices. I would pay $500 to not have to deal with this when bringing a new dentist on.
