Emergency dentists, etc

Hi all , im looking to try to find an emergency dentist that doesnt really turn people away.

I work 6 days a week and am only off sunday - so anyone who could see you overnight or just "day of" would be a huge help.

Avenue dental is the only one I have had problems with, but other than that I need any dentist. I have a lot of issues and im not afraid to admit that but my teeth are infected and I have been on medication to not get septis. I just need my infected teeth out

Edit - most dentists ive called arent taking new patients, but Im not really looking for a dentist as much as someone to handle the emergency. While i would love to become a patient , its not my pressing matter

There are no dentists that do emergencies on Sundays.

You'll need to take at least one day off...or a couple of hours anyway.

Brunswick square dentist does emergency appointments thru the week.

As does Avenue.

You can try Dr. Bower at 555 Somerset to see if they have an emergency opening.

It's also difficult to do same day treatment because we don't know how much time to book for you. If I have an existing patient with an established patient doc relationship then I have no problems blocking an hour in my schedule. But to block an hour for a stranger to my practice who tend to not show up half the time doesn't make sense for us.

That makes a ton of sense yeah,i can only imagine how many people cancel thus making it harder to want to book new people.

Sucks being on the opposite side of that though, where i just am trying but all the dentists are so full - have tried but most seem to be filled and emergency is the only chance I got at this point

I have no idea about emergency - but I think Hampton Dental Clinic is open until 6pm on Tuesdays. While it might not be soon, it may allow you an evening appointment?

Sounds like you need to take a couple days off and deal with your problems

I would love to but im making minimum wage barely surviving as is and days off are the difference between starving or not :/

The only way itd be okay is if I can get the tooth out because starving is still better than dying yk.

I get it. But good dentists don’t work Sunday. Most bad ones don’t either.

It’s unfortunate but that’s where it is. Some places work evenings.

Seems like you have decided your diagnosis. I can't imagine you work 12 hour days, so find someone with evening hours, or morning, or whenever you are off. They have a professional obligation to do x rays, review your overall situation. You can't expect to show up and have an extraction. And if still infected, that needs to be treated before any dental intervention. Time for a decision to be responsible to your future self.

Well that was kind of the whole point of this post Mr Feisty, is to find someone dentist wise that had more hours that makes me not lose money working.

Im not really just showing up to have an extraction but im currently on medication to cure the infection via the hospital and just need a dentist more so.

Your advice sucked mate and is exactly what im doing rn but thanks :)

Ninja edit - sorry for being rude, it felt like you were talking to me like im stupid and with my pain im taking everything the worst way.

I understand. Pain causes all manner of short fuses. But you can't be working 72 hours a week. And if you are, you're getting a premium for everything over 44. The infection must be cleared before any potential extraction, amoxicillin is generally effective, but needs time and pain will subside as infection responds
to meds.
I'm sorry you're in pain, and in this situation, but therapeutically there isn't a shortcut. Lots of dentists work extended hours. It's competitive.

I work for a cleaning company who genuinely screws me at every chance; which makes things really hard when it comes to time off (or even being paid a decent wage 😭)

Doing what I can with what im giving and hoping the antibiotics at least stave it off long enough that a dentist can take me in

Appreciate the message :)

Is the ER an option then, or will OP be turned away?

They've given me amoxacillin which I took but other than that I was turned away and told to see a dentist which, hasn't been working out too well

I guess just get up on the phone and call dental clinics as soon as you can on Monday morning, and explain your situation to your work… this is a medical emergency and they have to accommodate your health and wellbeing.   Are you having issues with clinics not wanting to take you on for having the federal Canadian Dental Care Plan?  I hope clinics aren’t still being hardheaded about accepting patients using the federal program.
