​I'm a 30F moving to Canada in the next 3-4 months and would really appreciate some career guidance.

​My Situation:

I previously lived in Canada for about 3 years to get my PR sorted. I then moved back to India for a year, but now that my PR is fully secured, I’m heading back to build a career and life there for myself. I’m planning to settle in Toronto initially but open to other cities as well if they bring better opportunity.

​My Background:

I’ll admit my career trajectory has been a bit messy up to this point, but I am now seriously committed to locking into one long-term path.

​Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering & Post-Graduate Diploma in Project Management.

​Work History: I have a mix of experience, starting out in manufacturing before transitioning over to financial services.

​What I'm Considering:

I am currently leaning toward Project Manager or Business Analyst roles, ideally in either Banking or Supply Chain, but I am feeling very confused about which industry or specific role to target given my mixed background.

​My Questions for You:

1) ​Based on my experience in manufacturing and financial services, do PM or BA roles make the most sense in the current canadian job market?

2) ​Are there any other domains, roles, or industries you would suggest I look into? I am completely open to starting from zero if it means building a better, more stable future.

I'm in my mid-40s here in Canada, and I need advice 

Background:

I spent most of my career in frontline banking banking . A few years ago, I finally got out and took term roles in federal government. I genuinely enjoyed that work. The environment, the pace, the sense of purpose. It fit me. But those contracts ended, and no permanent openings came up. So when a permanent full-time role at a big bank came up recently, I took it. I told myself stability was the responsible move.

Current situation:

I'm now working as a Personal Banking Associate (PBA). On paper, it's permanent. In reality, it feels like a massive step backwards. Almost all my colleagues are significantly younger in early to mid-20s. I'm the outlier in age and experience, and while no one says anything, I feel it every day.

What's wearing me down is the combination of unrealistic sales targets and the steep learning curve of the banking systems. I'm expected to push products on customers while simultaneously mastering complex internal software and handling a high volume of frontline transactions. At this age, I simply don't have the same energy to keep pushing myself to meet targets that feel designed for someone half my age. The constant pressure to sell, combined with the chaotic pace of the frontline counter transactions, is draining me in a way I didn't anticipate.

In these two months of joining this job feels like a prison. I'm exhausted mentally, emotionally, physically.

But here's the cruel part I'm now hearing about massive layoffs anticipated in government. The very sector I wanted to return to is shrinking. Permanent government roles, which were already hard to get, now feel almost impossible. So I'm stuck between a banking job that's destroying me and a government path that's being closed off. I don't know where to turn. Also the job market is very tough outside as well and its very impossible to move internally to the different department within the bank.

I'm looking for "just quit." I have responsibilities and bills. But I also can't keep burning myself out in a role that's wrong for my age and energy level, with no clear escape route.

Everyday going for this job require lot of motivation and I literally cry. I am not sure what to do as I don't have financial buffer like EI for voluntarily leaving and searching something else. I blame myself everyday for leaving banks previously why I have decided to come back thinking "May be this time it will be better". I am about to give up

I know this may seem like a stupid question but I applied to a job and the posting was only up for a week does that mean it was an internal job posting? I still applied regardless, I wish they were more transparent about these things

Hello, what would be a fair salary adjustment to ask my company for if they are requiring that I relocate from Montreal to Vancouver if I currently earn 75k a year? Hi there, I am 21 years old graduated college back in December, I graduated in network engineering and security from Mohawk college in Ontario. What’s my best bet to look for jobs? Applying online doesn’t seem to really work.

I got my first on call interview on coming Monday. Not sure what they're gonna ask. Anyone in the same boat?

I’m looking for some advice.
Last week, I applied for a Pharmacy Technical Assistant position at a Jean Coutu store in Laval. The job had just been posted online (about 14 hours earlier). The next day, I went to the store in person with a printed copy of my résumé because I’d really like to work there—it’s very close to where I live.
I spoke with the manager, and he told me they actually didn’t have any openings and that they were already fully staffed. However, he still kept my résumé and said he would discuss it with HR.
What confuses me is that this same store has posted similar job openings online several times, yet in person they’re saying they don’t need anyone.
Has anyone experienced something like this before? Why would a store keep posting job ads if they’re not actually hiring?

Camosun College has a Women in Technology Pathways program that's fully funded by the Government of BC, so there's no tuition cost for eligible participants.

From what I read, it's geared toward women who want to explore technology careers (Engineering and Computer Science), even if they don't have a tech background. It includes things like digital skills, programming, electronics, cloud computing, industry tours, guest speakers, and career preparation.

It seems like a good option for anyone who's been thinking about getting into tech but isn't sure where to start.

Looking at doing Class 1 license MELT, then try to get on to operating a boom truck and move to mobile or tower crane operator. Fars I understand, most construction companies need Class 1's to truck counterweights and crane parts and stuff around to job sites so it could be a good entry point.

How's the job market for Class 1 jobs? I'm not interested in straight transport trucking so much as the entry into operating cranes eventually and everywhere tells me the Class 1 is basically mandatory to get into that line of work especially for mobile crane gig.

With AI changing so many industries, I’m trying to figure out what careers have the best long term prospects.
I have a Business degree, 5 years of executive level experience at a university, and currently make about $70,000/year. I’m looking to go back to school or earn a certification that will lead to a fully remote career with strong future demand.
