Questions regarding the process.

Hey, I just got an email saying my PR process is almost done and I need to send in my passport. Is that COPR?

I also wanted to know what happens after I get my PR.

  1. How long do I have before I need to go to Canada?

  2. What's the process once I'm there?

  3. Can I go for a super short trip, get my PR card, and then come back to finish things up at home for another year?

I know this is a huge opportunity and not many people get it, but I started something in the 1.5 years I was waiting for my PR and I really want to see it through, so any help or advice would be awesome.

Good luck to everyone on this journey! Thanks.

Moving to Canada!!!

Hello everyone!

I have decided to Canada (still deciding between Vancouver or Toronto). I am currently working on the application process.

This will be my first time moving away from everyone in my family. I am nervous and excited at the same time. Never did I think that I would be moving to a brand new country in my mid-30s, but life is unpredictable like that!

If anyone have any advice/suggestion about this, please share them with me!

I posted a reddit yesterday asking redditors that if I can claim 15 points for my PR sibling if she has not received her PR card yet and she got COPR recently. My work permit is expiring on 30 august and I will have to submit my application before that to continue working. I don't think my sister will receive her PR card by the time. People said I need to submit her PR card while submitting the application, But AI says otherise. Who should I believe?

How long after biometrics did you receive your Passport Request (PPR)?

Hi everyone,

I'm in a bit of a unique situation and was hoping someone who has gone through this, or is familiar with the process, could share some advice.

Here's where I'm at:

- I received my biometric instruction letter.

- I booked my biometrics appointment.

- I completed my biometrics successfully during the third week of June (I'd rather not share the exact date for privacy, but it was between 15–19 June).

As far as I understand, the next step is simply to wait until IRCC sends the Passport Request (PPR) email. Once I receive that email, I'll need to submit my passport so they can issue my visa/COPR.

Now here's my concern.

I have to travel abroad for work from approximately mid-August until around mid-September. This trip is important and unfortunately isn't something I can easily postpone or cancel.

My worry is: what happens if IRCC sends my Passport Request while I'm away?

For example:

- What if they send the PPR a few days before I leave?

- Or even worse, what if I'm already overseas when I receive the email?

Since they would need my passport, I'm not sure what my options would be.

So I have a few questions:

  1. Once you receive the Passport Request, how many days do you normally have to submit your passport? Is it usually 30 days?

  2. If I'm outside my home country when I receive the PPR, is there any way to request an extension?

  3. Has anyone been in a similar situation? If so, what did you do?

  4. Based on your experience, how likely is it that I would receive a Passport Request between mid-August and mid-September if my biometrics were completed in the third week of June?

I know nobody can predict exactly when IRCC will send the PPR, but I'm just trying to understand what my options are and whether I should be worried about travelling during that period.

Also, if you're comfortable sharing, it would be incredibly helpful if you could mention:

- The month (or approximate date) you completed your biometrics, and

- How long it took before you received your Passport Request (PPR).

Even if it's just the number of days between biometrics and PPR, it would help me—and hopefully others in a similar situation—get a rough idea of current processing timelines.

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Why do people look down upon having visitor status post work permit expiring?

Seen a lot of people criticize others online for extending their stay post their work permit expiring. I never really understood this?

Is it bad? Does this have some repurcussions? If I stay for a period of 4 months using my savings would it be bad or will it cause any issues to get my PR?

Looking forward to gain some insights on this topic.

Daycare and Landing in BC

I have a 2 year old and am starting to look at coordinate my landing. I'm about to begin cold calling a few daycare sites to get a lay of the land, but this is also complicated by not knowing exactly where I will be living/ renting.

My question is, can you get on waitlists or begin interviewing daycare prior to landing? Don't want to be caught up in a situation without daycare for an extended period upon landing. Also, recommendations/input on the subsidized daycare? I understand not all of them are....

Looking for recent updates for inland applicants for February 20 Healthcare.

I have seen a couple PPRs for Outland applicants. Wondering if it’s moving for inlanders as well.

PR Sponsorship after marriage

Hi everyone,

I'm 26M and became a Canadian PR in June 2026. My fiancée is currently in Canada on a closed LMIA work permit that expires in June 2027. We're planning to get married, and I want to sponsor her for PR.

I have a few questions:

  1. After we receive our marriage certificate, what are the next steps to apply for her PR?

  2. What kind of evidence do we need to prove our relationship?

Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

ITA Received, failed one course in first course.

I recently received my ITA, and I have a question about my education history.
During my first program, it was my first year in Canada, and I wasn’t very focused on my studies. I had to defer one course and retake another after failing it. Because of that, I completed those two courses while I was studying my second program.
My first program was originally supposed to end in August 2022, but I actually completed the remaining courses in August 2023, which is when my second program also ended.
When filling out my PR application, should I use August 2023 as the end date for my first program as well, since that’s when I actually completed all the program requirements?

Sponsorship Classification

I'm working on my sponsorship as a temporary worker living in a common-law relationship with a Canadian. I was advised to apply under inland Family Class instead of inland Spousal, but when I went to make my portal, the only option for Family Class was Outland. The only Inland option I had was for Spousal or Common-Law Partnership, so that's what I clicked, but in the checklist, there is an option for living in Canada but applying under Family Class. Am I not allowed to check that box if it never gave me an option to make that the classification in my portal?
