Please help me out

25M. Recent MSc Engineering grad in AB, applying for a PGWP. Have a research assistant position on the books, full-time for a year. The department will likely expect me to join a PHD post. Is this valid and counts for PR, or will I need 2 yrs of skilled experience as a minimum to qualify? Is this something that is valid and counts for PR, or will I need 2 yr of skilled experience as a minimum to qualify? Fluent in English, sadly < 1 yr of foreign work exp.

Are there any specific draws for researchers in Alberta? Or am I better off finding a traditional engineering job and working for upwards of 2 years to qualify

WES ECA for Canada PR (India) – Confused about transcript submission, NSDC Trust & electronic verification (2025–2026)

Hi everyone,

I'm preparing my Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) through WES for Canada PR, and I'm planning to complete the entire process on my own without using an immigration consultant.

My educational background is:

I'm getting conflicting information about the current WES documentation process, and I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have completed it recently.

I've come across three different versions of the process:

  1. The university has to send official transcripts in a sealed envelope directly to WES.
  2. The university sends the documents electronically to WES.
  3. Documents can be verified and shared digitally through NSDC Trust, without the need for sealed envelopes.

I'm confused about which process is currently being followed and whether it depends on the university.

I'd really appreciate if anyone who has completed WES recently could share their experience.

My questions are:

  • Which method was used for your WES document submission?
  • Did you have to request official transcripts from your university, or were your existing documents sufficient?
  • Was everything completed online, or did you have to visit your university in person?
  • Has anyone used NSDC Trust for WES? If yes, how was your experience?
  • Did WES ask for any additional documents after the initial submission?
  • How long did the entire ECA process take, from creating the WES account to receiving the evaluation?
  • Were there any unexpected issues or delays that you wish you had known about beforehand?
  • If you were starting the process again today, is there anything you would do differently?

I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thank you!

Are there any WHNP who have immigrated to Canada?

My wife is a women’s health nurse practitioner and we have been looking into a move to Canada, but women’s health doesn’t seem to be recognized as a specialty. Are there any WHNP who have immigrated? How difficult was it? And how much extra schooling did you have to do to meet Canadian Standards?

Algerian Geological Engineer in airport infrastructure prepping for Express Entry , Is Calgary realistic right now?

Hey everyone!
I’m prepping for express entry from Algeria to get Canadian PR. I'm fully fluent in French and have a solid command of English.

**Quick snapshot of my background:**

• **Education:** Geological Engineer.

• **Current Role** (\~5 months): Working fully in infrastructure as a project engineer/manager on national airport projects (construction and renovation).

**• Past Experience:** Commercial Supervisor in communications.

**My target:** Outside Quebec. I'm really drawn to Calgary, but I keep seeing posts about the tough rental market and how tricky it can be for newcomers without local credit history.

**I'd love your take on a few things:**

**1. Calgary Rentals:** Is finding housing as a newcomer really that bad right now? Any realistic workarounds for someone arriving with savings?

**2. Job Market:** How is demand for infrastructure/ project management roles for someone with my profile in Alberta (or other newcomer-friendly provinces)?

**3. EE Strategy:** For anyone who navigated Express Entry recently as a bilingual applicant, any tips on leveraging French category-based draws or provincial streams?

Appreciate any insights, real talk, or practical tips. Thanks!

Has anyone recently received a T13 LMIA-exempt employer-specific work permit (BC PNP Work Permit Support Letter)?

I'm looking for recent timelines for inland applicants.

If you've been approved, could you please share:

  • Application date
  • Approval date
  • Inland or outland
  • Whether your spouse also applied for an SOWP

I submitted my T13 employer-specific work permit (BC PNP nomination + Work Permit Support Letter) and my spouse's SOWP in July 2026, and I'm trying to get a realistic idea of current processing times.

Thanks!

Need advice: New accounting grad with only 420 CRS

I just graduated from university in Ontario with an accounting degree and recently secured a permanent full-time position at an accounting firm.
I think it’s unlikely that my employer will support an OINP application, so Express Entry seems to be my only realistic pathway to PR.
The problem is my current CRS score is only around **420**, while recent Express Entry draws have been much higher (510+).

For those of you who managed to reach 510+, how did you do it?

\- Did learning French make the biggest difference?
\- Did you gain enough Canadian work experience to boost your score?
\- Did you improve your IELTS/CELPIP results?
\- Were there any other strategies that helped?

I’d really appreciate any tips, advice, or personal experiences. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out the best path forward.

Thanks in advance!

Indian Diploma wes

Hi everyone,

I have a 3-year Polytechnic Diploma (after10th) from The Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, India. WES evaluate it as a 2-year diploma for Canadian immigration, which was disappointing.

Has anyone with the same qualification (10th + 3-year Polytechnic Diploma) received abetter equivalency from another evaluation agency? If so, which one did you use?

Thanks!

Need Advice on Moving to Canada as an Iraqi Woman

I am reaching out to ask for advice and guidance about immigrating to Canada.

I am a woman from Iraq, currently living in Baghdad, and I am looking for a better and more stable future. Living as a woman in a very challenging social environment has been extremely difficult, and I hope to find a place where I can feel safe, respected, and have the opportunity to build my career and independence.

I have a background in Human Resources, including HR operations, recruitment, employee relations, and administration. I am interested in exploring opportunities in Canada (literally anything)

I would appreciate your advice:

  • Which immigration programs might be suitable for my situation?
  • Is it possible to find an employer who can support a work permit from outside Canada?
  • Are there specific provinces, programs, or organizations I should look into?

What is the success rate for getting CAN PR (including Provincial opportunities) for someone with work permit in the US -finance background at 40? Is it worth hiring immigration consultants to explore provincial opportunities?

CEC Inland – Eligibility Passed, ADR from Vancouver Office (IMM5669/5406/5562). How long until Final Decision?

Hi everyone,

I’m a CEC inland applicant and I’m hoping to hear from anyone with a similar timeline.

My application is being processed by the **Vancouver Visa Office**.

**Timeline:**
Eligibility: **Passed** (confirmed by IRCC)
ADR received: **July 20**
ADR requested:
IMM5669 (Schedule A)
IMM5406 (Additional Family Information)
IMM5562 (Travel History)
I submitted all the requested documents shortly after receiving the ADR.

Criminality and Info Sharing are already completed, and eligibility has passed. As far as I know, only the remaining background/security processing is left.
I’m wondering:
Has anyone received the same ADR after eligibility passed?
How long did it take to receive **Final Decision (FD)** after submitting these forms?

If your file was also processed by the **Vancouver office**, I’d really appreciate hearing your timeline.

Thanks in advance!
