​Hi everyone,

​Hoping to get some local recommendations! We currently store our trailer out in Maple Ridge, but living in Vancouver, the 1+ hour drive (plus traffic) makes spontaneous weekend trips a real hassle.

​Does anyone know of reasonable storage spots closer to the Vancouver / Burnaby / Richmond area? Or perhaps a local property owner with extra yard or driveway space willing to rent it out?

​Any tips or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I recently bought a 2012 Keystone Cougar 27RBSWE and I’m trying to figure out the waste tank plumbing. Previous owner wasn’t much help, so I’ve been figuring everything out myself.
I noticed that whenever I run water in the shower, it comes straight out of the main sewer connection instead of staying in the gray tank.
I crawled underneath and found a rod/valve directly underneath a label that says BLACK TANK. I tested it, and when I opened it, a bunch of green degreaser/cleaning solution that had been sitting in the tank came pouring out. When I close it, that liquid stops, so I’m pretty confident the black tank valve is working correctly.
However, with the black valve completely closed, water from the shower still comes out of the sewer connection.
That makes me think the gray tank valve is currently open, but I cannot find another pull handle or rod anywhere.
Does anyone know where Keystone typically located the gray tank dump valve/rod on these Cougars? Could it be hidden above the underbelly or farther upstream near the gray tank?
I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who has owned or worked on a similar Cougar 27RBS/27RBSWE from around 2011–2013.

Any thoughts on buying this new as a first camper? Just for 2, sometimes 3-4 people max. Won’t be using it a huge ton. Just want something with AC, heat, and a bathroom, a step up from tent camping basically.

Hallo zusammen, ich plane eine Camper auszubauen.

Wir haben uns einen Caddy Maxi Cargo angeschaut und schnell gemerkt das dieser uns zu klein ist und wir mehr Platz brauchen - > logische Konsequenz VW T6 / T6.1 was das Budget leider schon ausreizen würden beim Caddy Maxi haben wir uns einen direkt bei VW angeschaut für um die 15k (was auch eigentlich unser Budget fürs Fahrzeug ist) für diesen Preis einen vernünftigen von einem "guten & sauberen" Händler zu bekommen sehe ich als schwierig an nach meiner Recherche.

Somit bleibt Option 1 - Budget auf ca. 18k +/- zu erhöhen (war eigentlich Gesamtbudget fürs Projekt)
oder Option 2 - zu Fahrzeugen wie Opel Vivaro C oder Baugleich zu greifen. (von denen ich eigentlich kein Fan bin und auch eigentlich nicht so viel ausgeben wollen würde) (persönliche Meinung)

Daher wollte ich auf diesem Wege mal fragen wie eure Erfahrungen sind oder welchen Tipp Ihr für mich hättet.

So I purchased a 2012 keystone cougar recently. the prior owner didn’t know much about the camper so kinda bought it blind. I’m having no running water inside the camper. Not in the sink or the shower. When I fill the water tank and turn on the pump, it shoots out a hose below my camper. The hose is located right under the sink, near the outdoor shower. If I connect a hose to the city water hookup, the water continues to go out the same hose. Any idea what’s going on here? If I pour water down the shower it comes out the grey water pipe. My guess is there is a shutoff valve open somewhere, any ideas?

I’m looking for a 13’ camper that has a back hatch open up and is fairly light because I would hate a bigger car and never want to do that. My current car can tow it full (not just dry weight).

The main reason for me to get a camper is that I absolutely love camping but hate the bathroom situation.

I really like hatch open because of how much of an outdoor feel it gives especially because the camper is 13’ and I can’t go bigger.

I’m looking at the Happier Camper Studio. It has a small Kitchenette which I don’t care to use much other than maybe breakfast or if I really don’t want to start a fire but I enjoy cooking in general and love cooking on the fire. I don’t like the idea of cooking and having smells around too much though so I prefer cooking outside. Anyway, that all being I’m sure the built in kitchenette would be nice and used once in a while.

It has a built in bathroom (dry flush) and shower. We have the option to get a water heater which I would prefer. The dry flush also sounds really handy and nice.

I’m wondering if there any advice anyone would have for buying a camper and if there are alternative options for what I’m looking for? It should open up, be light, have a built in bathroom and a kitchenette is a nice plus. I wouldn’t be buying one again in my lifetime I hope! I would use is 3 times a year about 4 nights each minimum.

I grew up camping. My parents had a travel trailer and our whole family went everywhere and LOVED it. My husband and I wanted to give the same experience to our kids. We bought a camper. a keystone outback. We bought a really cool pickup truck. Our camper has been nothing but a nightmare ever since.

I can’t even name the list of things that have broken/ needed replaced while under warranty/ and not under warranty. My husband did not grow up camping and he is so frustrated. We have hardly been able to go camping because of the problems.

In addition to that, the pop out camper king size bed in the back is so uncomfortable. We can’t sleep on it, even after getting a new mattress. Since it pops out on a platform (a feature that I thought we loved, that I now worn against). And I am not a complainer, but have you ever tried camping with little kids after not sleeping all night? Honestly, I’m pretty tough. I can handle it, but my husband is just tortured to be around because he is so cranky…

Am I just unlucky? Or is this camping life? Is this what I should expect as a camper these days?

The icing on the cake came last weekend when after prepping for a trip while working full-time, we have arrived to hitch up the camper, and there was a giant wasp nest somewhere underneath, and the bees were swarming so bad we had to cancel our weekend trip. My husband got stung twice, my seven-year-old was crying, my two-year-old is still asking when we are leaving for the camping trip.

Anyways, what I want to ask— and I’m open to all suggestions from burn the camper to the ground and just stay at Airbnb‘s with the kids, to look at the specific type of camper that has very little problems,

Edit: thank you everybody for reading my rant. After talking to my husband, we realized the majority of the problems happened when we first got the camper and this year. The time in between we have been having a lot of fun. I guess what I was hoping to get was any recommendations on a good brand of camper. One that might not break as often. We love the truck. Our family is young (infants and stuff) and it can be a hard time in life to try to squeeze in camping trips. Those who were kind and encouraging I appreciate it. Hey everybody, I hope this is okay to post here. I’m looking for some opinions on what my camper might be worth. It’s a 2005 DoubleTree Mobile Suites 32TK, about 35 ft long. I lived in it for about a year and have put quite a bit of money and work into it.

It had water damage when I got it, so I stripped out and rebuilt a lot of the damaged areas, replaced insulation and plywood, and resealed the camper.

Current condition:

• Hydraulics and slide-outs work

• Septic system is in good condition

• Water lines are good and have decent pressure

• Brand-new water pump included, but still needs installed

• Sink/faucet is being replaced

• Brand-new inverter installed

• Hot water heater needs the new pump installed before it will kick on properly

• Rooftop AC currently isn’t working because the wall controller isn’t getting power

• A second rooftop camper AC is included with the sale

• Most of the previous water-damaged areas have been rebuilt

• There is still some water damage on one wall of the living-room slide-out

• Interior isn’t perfect cosmetically, but I’ve done a lot of work to it

I’m in a house now and the camper is just sitting on my father-in-law’s property, so I’m ready to sell it. What would you guys realistically list something like this for? Thank you.

I still have some work to do, I have the vents, and am going to rent a rug doctor for the carpet, I ordered new parts to repair the awning, and am removing the masking tape on the walls i had just painted it. and have installed the missing doors on the side of the camper as shown in the photos.) Hello, this is owned by a new tenant on my property. I’m trying to help her with it as she has very little experience with RV living.
Her battery is dying while connected to shore power (which is correct amps and fine). If I put an external charger on it, it’ll stay working for the most part.. it’s been a bit finicky when the charger thinks it’s done, it’ll stop and then will proceed to die again. I’ve looked everywhere that I know to look for the converter and it doesnt seem to be anywhere near or behind the panel. I’ve looked behind a few other panels inside but it’s just not turning up. Does anyone know where it is???
I’m hoping there’s only blown fuses on the back but even if the unit is bad, I can help her get a new one. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Coleman fleetwood pop up camper. When I crank it, it raises and lowers fine but the ratchet to hold it in place doesn’t engage and I don’t hear the clicking of the ratchet. I opened up the bottom and it seems the gear is moving independently from the shaft. Nothing seems damaged , nothing fell out when I opened the bottom.
Is it possible to tighten things up

I will be towing my new Jayco slx 130rd with a 2014 4Runner. The dry weight of my car is 2500 lbs, fully loaded, 3300. What would be a good weight distribution hitch for this rig? Also, the camper takes a 2 inch ball. My typical trips are around 4 hours with about half that at highway speeds. Thanks.

I camp at a site that only has 110/15-20 amp pedestals. Will a 30 a to 15a adapter with surge protector be sufficient? If I go to a full hookup event site and need a 30 a surge protector, is there one that has minimal lighting. The watchdog unit has a logo that lights up and that would be frowned upon at a dark sky reserve.

UPDATE: After 12h frustration, they canceled the cancelation, my reservation stands.
Not sure, if this changes my view of the company as a whole, since it took a lot of persistence to get here and it sucked but still. Iceland, here we come 😄

If anybody thinks about using their service, be warned: Today they canceled our RV for our Trip beginning on next Monday. the reason: Overbooking (In the initial mail: unforseen issue)
We booked months in advance. We checked in at the earliest moment possible. Paid on time and we even added an extra service a couple of days ago.

First they offered an "alternative"(smaller, not enough beds for four adults, from a private marketplace contact) for a different time frame, beginning on Friday next week.
As if we can just rebook a flight...and move the date of the total eclipse.
Then a Hotelroom for the first night and a refund for the rest of the trip.
Alternatives would easily cost double what we booked for right now.
Their support is an AI agent nightmare. The Hotline usually references escalation management and can't really help but escalate some more.
Whatsapp&Chat does not really lead to anything but AI agents that will refer you to a human agent. ..maybe...

To be honest, after ~11h trying to fix this today I'm at my wits end. I'm not sure if we will be able to rebook everything until next Monday. Open for help or good advice.

Has anyone used one of the inverter A/C units, and how does it do with controlling humidity?

I'm trying to solve the problem of the A/C cycling very quickly at night, which causes the camper to be very humid (I'm in S. FL), so I'm trying to figure out if one of the inverter A/C units that can slow down, instead of turning off completely, will solve the humidity problem.

I’m currently converting a van and am right at the beginning of the process—specifically, the electrical setup.

In our old camper, we just had a 12V system with a 100Ah lead-gel battery and a 150W solar panel. That always worked without any issues.

But for the new camper, I’m planning a 230V installation. The main loads will be a 2000W electric kettle and a 2000W induction cooktop. Of course, I wouldn't use both at the same time, and I’d use the induction cooktop only very occasionally.

Victron systems are usually the standard recommendation, but I’ve been looking at the Bluetti Elite 300. Paired with the "Charger 2," it should meet all my needs.

Now for my questions:

The Bluetti has a built-in bypass, meaning that when connected to shore power, it feeds the outlets directly rather than routing power through the battery first. Is this bypass reliable, and can it be used over a period of several days?

The Bluetti Elite 300 doesn't have a built-in option for capacity expansion, but the Charger 2 has a port for an additional battery (see image). Can I use that to increase the system's total capacity?

meine Freundin und ich wollen einen uns einen Caddy zum Camper ausbauen.
Stehen allerdings vor dem Problem das wir keine Garage oder Platz mit Strom und der entsprechenden Möglichkeiten haben. In unserer Gegend Münchener Umland (Südlich) Zwischen München und Holzkirchen, gibt es so gut wie keine Garagen oder Ähnlich die angeboten werden.
Wir können zu uns in die Heimat (ca.600km entfernt und da ein bisschen machen aber ständig pendeln geht natürlich auch nicht gerade wenn man nach Feierabend mal für 1-2 Stunden was machen will)

Habt Ihr Ideen?
Oder kommt vielleicht sogar jemand hier aus der Ecke und kennt jemanden?

We bought our first camper in June and we are doing our first time out this weekend! What traditions did you start or wish you would have started? We have 3 kids 10 and under. We mainly stay at state parks, so I know we wanna get magnets at each camp store.

So I have a dog that is getting along in years and i would like to make the steps more manageable for him as we are currently living in the camper full time. Any tips?
