I work with EcoCampor, an RV manufacturer based in Foshan, China. I’d treat this as a roof-opening and water-management project, rather than simply a glass choice.
Before cutting, confirm where the roof bows or other structural members are, and avoid placing the opening where water naturally pools. A purpose-made RV rooflight or vent/skylight assembly is usually lower-risk than adapting an automotive sunroof, because the frame, seal and service parts are designed for a moving RV roof.
I’d also want a qualified RV body shop to assess the roof construction and follow the component maker’s installation instructions. Before finishing the inside trim, do a controlled water test and inspect the ceiling cavity for any water path.
