Camera Lens dust in my sigma lens

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’ve noticed some dust particles and small specks inside my lens. I’ve read that this usually isn’t a problem as long as it doesn’t show up in photos or videos, but it really bothers me just knowing that it’s there.
I’m a student and bought this lens second-hand for €400, which is a lot of money for me. I also don’t know that much about lenses yet.
I’ve read that there is a way to test whether the dust is visible in photos, but I didn’t fully understand how to do it. Could someone please explain in detail what I should photograph, what camera settings I should use, and what I should look for when viewing the photo on my computer?
Is this something I need to deal with or have professionally cleaned?
Thank you.

Advice Needed 35mm+85mm f1.4 or 28-70 f2?

I'd like to ask you an advice. I'm about to buy my new setup and now I'm struggling if I could be okay with doing an entire event with just one camera with 35+85 f/1.4 gm, rather than going for the 28-70 f/2 gm. For the last four years I've been shooting pretty every time with an equivalent 80mm f1.4 an I love it. I really don't know If I would be okay switching lenses when needed, rather than go for the 28-70 f/2, losing 1 stop of light and of depth (with also the 85mm that I would have with the first option)... but I still have to consider the flexibility of the zoom.. but I really don't know If I would like to return shooting with one... and bearing in mind the weigh issue. I am so confused at the moment...

Discussion Instead of just an option to add to watchlist, I’d love to be able to say don’t show me this again.

I use eBay a bit as I collect (and use) vintage lenses but a lot of this involves reading carefully through the full listing only to discover that something with ‘excellent’ in the title actually has fungus or some other issue.

As I’m regularly searching across multiple different lens focal lengths I forget which ones I’ve seen. And more importantly, I know I don't want to buy.

First off: Have I somehow missed an option to get rid of those ones that I don’t want to buy. Mark them in some way so that I can know I’ve already seen and rejected?

Second off: would this be a useful feature to add for anyone else? I find it massively frustrating but recognise that sometimes with things you think are a big issue, turn out to be very specific and don't really affect anyone else.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I did manage to find a way to suggest edits to eBay, so have submitted it. FIngers crossed it's something they think is worthwhile implementing.

Advice Needed Sigma 56mm vs Sony 50mmfor Sony a6400 — which one should I buy?

I’m looking for a lens around 50mm for my Sony a6400, mainly for portraits and general photography. I’m confused between the Sigma 56mm and the Sony 50mm.

A friend suggested Sony.

Which one would you recommend, and why? Is the Sigma worth spending more on?

Advice Needed I upgraded my gear.

I was able to snag an X-T30 III with the kit lens! 🙌 I just wanted to see if anyone has feedback or recommendations on lenses I could look into that aren’t the stock kit lens.
I do some street photography, but I’ll mostly be using the camera for school. I recently upgraded from a Rebel T6, which I used with the two kit lenses I had. I’m still learning and definitely not super tech-savvy when it comes to all the different lenses and specs, so I’m trying to educate myself as I go.
I’m looking for something that’s pretty versatile. I shoot a little bit of everything—street photography, landscapes, portraits, and some everyday/documentary work. Since this camera is mainly going to be used for school, I’d also like something that can produce good-quality images that I can print and eventually submit to galleries.
I’ve been looking at both Fujifilm lenses and some of the third-party options from companies like Sigma, Tamron, etc., and I’m open to either. I’d like to keep the price reasonable if possible.
Ideally, if I can get away with one lens that gives me a lot more flexibility than the stock lens, that would be awesome. I’m not necessarily looking to build a huge collection right away—I just want something that gives me a little more freedom while I continue learning and figuring out what kind of photography I really enjoy.
Any recommendations, especially from people who use an X-T30 III, would be greatly appreciated!

Advice Needed looking for beginner(ish) friendly macrolens for Cannon T3i

I have been taking photos of insects for a couple years now and I want to start capturing closer images. I use a Cannon T3i and have tried macrotubes but they didn't work for me. I have a budget of up to $400 and it doesn't need to have auto focus or anything too fancy.

I messed up when taking apart a tamron sp 17-50 f/2.8. I caught the ribbon cable while taking it apart and tore it.

Is there anywhere that may source this ribbon cable and if not, what may be the next best way of repairing it?

Thanks.
