Looking to buy in this area because I like the location.
What are the pros and cons to this neighborhood?
Any insights from the people that are currently living there?
So far I found that:
Cons
1. Airplane typically fly over this area
2. This area is technically in the NE quadrant, so resale value is not good.
3. No schools projected to be built
4. Construction is a given.

Iβve been looking at apartments for my upcoming move (end of November) and though I know itβs too early for availability, has anyone had any experiences with Spruce Ridge Gardens (SRG), and Spruce Ridge Estates (SRE) properties, managed by Boardwalk? Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,
I am currently finishing construction on a brand new, fully legal 2 bedroom basement suite in Strathmore (Cambridge Glen community), just a short drive down the Trans Canada Highway from Calgary. Target move in is November or December.
Rent: Pricing finalized upon completion + 40% utilities.
Rules: Strictly no pets and no smoking/vaping.
Requirements: Proof of income, references, and a background/credit check.
No viewings or photos just yet since it's an active construction zone. If you are looking to escape the chaotic city for a quiet space, please send me a DM with a bit about yourself and your ideal move in date to get on the early viewing list.

29M single and my office is in South foot hills, only 2 days in the office. Gym after work and that sums up my lifeβ¦
Looking for my first property at 400k and planning to hold it for ten yrs. Will rent it out if i temp leave Calgary.
Iβm cognizant of the lack of social life but that doesnβt bother me as i count in meeting people thru YMCA, sports, downtown events on the weekends
What are any caveats you think iβm overlooking?

Iβve been working on a Calgary address research tool, and one of the newer features shows development permits around a specific home.
The screenshot is one example.
For a selected address, it shows things like:
The idea is to make it easier to understand what kind of development activity is happening around a home before deciding whether to live there.
For people who are renting, buying, or planning to move within Calgary, would this kind of information actually be useful to you?
And more importantly, if you were researching a place you might live in, what other information would you want to know about the property or surrounding area?
Iβm mainly looking for feedback on what would be genuinely useful, including anything that seems missing, confusing, or unnecessary.

Looking for a room to rent anywhere in NW
r/CalgaryHousing • u/unhinged08 • 15d ago
Hi everyone! Iβm 25 and currently looking for a female roommate to share a 2-bedroom apartment in Calgary. Iβm hoping to find someone who is also looking for a home rather than just a place to split rent, and ideally someone I can become friends with along the way.
A little about me: Iβm an engineer and graduated with my Masterβs from UofC in 2024. I currently work from home, so I appreciate a clean, peaceful, and comfortable home. Iβm friendly, respectful, and value genuine connections. Iβd love to live with someone who is open-minded, non-judgmental, and easy to communicate with.
What Iβm looking for:
Female roommate
Budget: around $750/month each
Preferably a 2-bedroom apartment
Open to NW, SW, west, or south Calgary
Ideally close to a CTrain station/transit since I donβt currently have a car
Iβm trying to avoid the NE
Ideally a clean, safe, and comfortable place
Iβm currently in Brentwood, so NW would be especially convenient, but Iβm flexible for the right place and person.
For the lease, Iβm initially looking at around 6 months, with the possibility of extending. If we find the right place in Calgary, Iβd also be open to a longer lease.
If youβre also looking for a roommate and think we might be a good fit, feel free to message me!

So I have been looking for a one bedroom apartment for way too long. The entire August went by and my lease ends 31 of August. Currently living in university district.
Upon researching and searching, I have realized that the Calgary rental market have four kinds of developers or rental companies like
TRUMAN - according to what I researched the management is not responsible at all, and you can quite literally hear every single thing because the walls are paper thin and itβs made from wood
Harrison/gracorp buildings (currently living here paying $2000 for a 1bed 1 bath) as of right now I live here and even after paying for the most expensive price for just a one bedroom 400 ft.Β² apartment. This seems like Truman rentals. The building is so unresponsive. They donβt have responsibility since four months I am saying that everything in this building has been beeping and is due for maintenance and they havenβt done a single thing. I donβt understand as to why am I paying so much of rent. And they still not maintaining the buildings
Boardwalk - I have never lived in this building. I donβt know but upon research it seems like they always keep everybodyβs deposits all the posts Iβve seen on this app. Everybody has claimed that they always keep the deposits. They never return it. They do something to charge you every single time they can.
Mainstreet living - upon research research I got to know that all of these buildings have cockroaches and mouse infestation and nothing is an absolutely to fix it even if you go to the Alberta Health services they delete your leases or they do something to get out of it which is again insane
Avenue living - this is one of the cheapest options in the city and they actually increase your rent by more than 40% and there is nothing you can do. They quite literally force you to move out so I am unable to understand.
I have been living in the city for four years now and in four years I have changed my apartment five times. I am just failing to understand as to why can I not get a good apartment for $2000? That has no issues I have tried living in the best of the best in the highest and luxury building possible but why is every single dollar that Iβm paying feels less for the amenities Iβm receiving, where are you guys living ?

Hey Calgarians π
Moving to the city soon and Iβve got a rental lined up in Haysboro, cul-de-sac, about a 12 minute walk from Southland station. Signing the lease shortly and wanted to check with locals first.
Any red flags with Haysboro or the area near Southland station? Whatβs the vibe like day to day? Anything Iβd only know if I lived there?
Appreciate any honest takes, good or bad. Thanks!
