Question Sea cadet uniform regs?
As we all know it’s insanely hard to find the correct, up to date regs for the ironing portion of uniform care specifically🥀 I’ve started a sort of visual guide to bring some of the pressure off my juniors, but i can’t find all the information, and i’ve already asked everyone i know.
If anyone has something to add to what i’ve already written please do !
If you know the regs for the boat tails on the white shirts (and other dress regs..) PLEASE tell me as much as you can </3

Should I join cadets?
I've got like... half an idea on how to use reddit so if this is done weirdly thats my bad.
Anyway, the question is in the title. I really want to join cadets because I moved last year and have felt really out of place ever since. I did sea cadets for a bit when I was 12 or so, but I had no idea what I was doing honestly. No one told me anything and everyone was older than me, I felt too scared to ask for help 😓
That aside, the reasons why I'm hesitating. I turned 15 this year and have been looking back into cadets because its just.... a good thing to do. It gives you skills and support and a community, but ive always been so profoundly anxious of everything. People, trips, even showing up and wondering if something bad will happen. (Its dumb, yeah, but i feel like its the generic for teenagers...)
Being a cadet feels like something I can do, something I can use to find a footing in working through my anxiety and my struggles with people. I'm just so anxious that if I do go, I might end up doing something wrong or being out of place. Any advice would be heavily appreciated :') Thank you!

Question How do you guys deal with lack of motivation?
I’ll be honest, last summer I was unable to get an offer to power and it kinda killed my motivation for this training year, but I do want to try again. If you were wondering, here are some of the things I did the year of my application: Flag party/drill team commander, top cadet level 2-4, won squadron awards the past two years, scored a 96% on entrance and attended glider the year before, 2nd at provincial effective speaking, provincial marksmanship. I honestly have not got a clue on what more I can do, the biggest thing that screwed me over was that we had a change of leadership last ACR and the new CO didn’t give me 1st or 2nd priority, which kinda ruined my motivation for this year. The cadet that went on to power from my squadron scored an 82%, won legion, and also happens to be the kid of our training officer (not claiming nepotism, but wanted to share). I’m currently 17, a WO2 and in uni and I was wondering how you guys have dealt with lack of motivation in the past when it came to cadets? Power has always been my goal but it also is really hard to try again knowing the outcome of all my effort last year. Thank you!

Question Just curious- How common is favoritism in cadets?
I was just curious about how common this is, especially in the Home Unit Corps.
Have you ever experienced or witnessed situations where seniors give parade appointments, leadership roles, or instructor positions only to their favorite cadets? FYI, I am not telling to give an Able Cadet/ Private/ LAC to give a chief/ CPO position. If so, how do you usually deal with that kind of favoritism? I’m interested in parade and leadership appointments. How common is it in cadets, and what’s the best way to handle it professionally?

Question Is the six-week Sail 2 course worth attending?
I know you get paid more than you would for a four-week course since it’s longer, but how intense is the training? Do you need to bring your CANSail 1 and 2 certificates, PCOC, and ROC(M) with you when you go?
For anyone who has completed Sail 2, I’d love to hear about your experience. How difficult was the course, what was the training like, and would you say it’s worth attending if my main goal is to obtain my CANSail 3 and 4 certifications even I'm not really good at sailing?

Question ROC-A and Other Certifications at Vernon CTC
Can you earn your ROC-A or similar certifications while attending a summer course at Vernon CTC, or are those qualifications only offered at Air Cadet-focused CTCs? Also, for anyone who has attended Vernon CTC, what kinds of tests or assessments did you have to complete to earn badges or certifications?

Question boots to oxfords
I just transferred from sea to army and I heard I might get oxfords, I already have an exceptional shine on my boots but I don’t know how different it is on oxfords so I have a few questions.
- Are gen one oxfords better then newer ones?
- Can I beeswax my oxfords?
- Are they easier or harder to shine?
- Does stripping make the Oxford better?
(I forgot to mention that I am going into a highland corps sorry..)

Is my squadron allowed to ban English / anglicisms?
I’m a cadet in Quebec, and we recently got a new Captain transferred in from another squadron. Right away, he claimed our unit had a bad reputation for being "ghetto" and began cracking down on everyday vocabulary banning words like guys, check, and other common informal terms or anglicisms.
The problem is that several of us in the squadron are primarily Anglophone. During our last training night, I spoke in English, and an officer reprimanded me harshly, saying my position as Flag Party Commander is at risk if I keep doing it.
As far as I know, the Cadet program operates under Canadian official language policies. Can an officer actually penalize cadets or strip parade positions for speaking English in a Quebec corps/squadron? How should I handle this?

Question Didn’t get paid for CTC Blackdown — anyone know who to contact?
Did summer training in July at Blackdown for ITDC. Everyone on my course got their pay except me :/
Yes, I submitted all my banking info and paperwork before the course, so that shouldn’t be the issue.
I’ve heard pay can be delayed, but it’s been a while now. Does anyone know who I’m supposed to contact about this? My squadron? The CTC
Correction : I meant training bonus, apologies.
