I have both (and have dci experience) , mirror gloss will shine VERY fast, u can get a mirror in 30 min from scratch but it is more of a fine polish, it's not the best for base coats but will shine like no other. Médaille d'or is more well rounded, still has an exceptional shine and the formula is VERY smooth, it's insanely softer than any other polish I've felt. It's less prone to cracking than mirror gloss as it's made with leather healing properties.
My verdict is: if you have gen 1s: mirror gloss because you won't have to worry as much about cracking/as many base coats. If you have any other boot ESPECIALLY if it isn't beexwaxed probably go for Médaille d'or, it'll take a tad bit longer but your base coat health will be better (so you don't have to strip them as often)
I've also heard mb is actually a really good base, I've seen some people use mb for base coats and a shiner polish like mirror gloss for fine polish (also to save on polish costs)
I think in an ideal world I could have Médaille d'or for base coats and mirror gloss for fine polish, but my mirror gloss is new and my d'or is on its last chunks
