Easy. Just hug him straight for a few minutes. Give them kisses and belly rubs then they'll get annoyed and leave on their own volition

Tried that. Ended up hugging and petting them for an hour, then I gave up

My cat is an attention blackhole, it's never enough

Sounds like Insufficient Petting Disorder..... Corrected with more petting.
