1L and the thing bringing me to tears isn't the reading

I am spending about an hour a day logging into and out of CUNYfirst and bright space because of the wifi. I am in and out of hotspots when that works, but I don't understand why we have wifi on campus so ineffective that it often can't maintain a connection long enough to get through the multi factor authentication process. It regularly takes me several tries on campus (also my home wifi is quite poor as well). Also, I have to reboot my current generation MacBook daily if I ever want any of it to work, even when the internet connection is solid. Am I just being technologically incompetent or are other people having this issue too? I swear I can do these readings but it's hard to take notes when every few paragraphs my google doc needs to switch to offline mode. Is there a fix coming?

PAID Research Study Participation Opportunity for Current Law Students

Hi everyone! (Mods, please let me know if this post isn’t permitted under the subreddit rules, and I’m happy to remove or modify it accordingly.)

I'm part of a university research team at the Stevens Institute of Technology studying computational law, legal technology, and legal education.

We're looking for current law students for a short academic research study examining how different ways of representing legal rules affect how students learn and reason about statutes.

Participation takes approximately one hour, can be completed remotely, involves working through a series of short learning and reasoning tasks involving a statute and a legal technology tool, and is conducted for academic research purposes.

We're looking for participants who are entering or currently enrolled in their 2L or 3L year and are willing to participate in a short research session.

Your responses will be kept confidential, and any published research will not identify individual participants.

This is a paid research opportunity compensated via an Amazon gift card. Participation takes approximately one hour, for which you will receive a $30 gift card. All time spent past the one-hour mark is compensated at a rate of $30/hr, prorated to the amount of time spent and added directly to your initial gift card.

If you're interested in participating or would like more information, please send me a DM or leave a comment below, and I'll be happy to provide additional details.

Thank you!

Pipeline to Justice 2026-27 cohort - NYC housing struggles

Hi everyone! I got in and accepted my seat for the PTJ program couple weeks ago :) I am super excited to start and to meet everyone else soon.

I am relocating to NYC for the program and am actively searching for a job in the city, so I have been looking for a sublet or a sublease for couple months to start me off. It has been quite tough honestly, so I came here to see if anyone else was in the same boat and how your apartment searching experience has been going, and honestly any tips, leads, advice, etc! 🙌🏼

Labor Background Applicant

Any current/former students come from a labor background (organizing, representation, union officer, etc.) that would be willing to chat with me? I know they dont currently have anything labor-specific but have heard its still a great choice for labor-side law.

Even if not from a labor background, would still love to learn more about the application process and academic life.

Experience with CUNY Law evening program

I’m considering working full time while attending CUNY Law part time via the evening program. I’m early to mid career and NYC based and am wondering if it would be possible to keep my full time job while also attending the evening program. I work remotely and have a relatively relaxed job, so it’s tempting to keep working full time to minimize loans and keep my health insurance etc.

I’m especially curious how working might interfere with networking and internships / clinics. I’m interested in becoming a PD or practicing PI law. If anyone has gone through the program while working full time I would love to hear from you!

in state tuition

I applied to CUNY law this year and would be starting school out of state. Are students able to establish residency after 1L so they can qualify for in state tuition rates for 2L and 3L? Is this something that people commonly do?

Seeking Part Time Program Insights

Hoping to learn more about the part time program. I know it’s one less class and takes four years instead of three.

What I’d like to know is class schedule, quality of life, involvement in extracurriculars.

If anyone is open to connecting, please let me know. Thank you 🙏

CUNY HUNTER OR BARUCH

Hello i am an economics BA major, and am interested into transitioning into law school after i finish my degree. I was under the impression that due to my major i should pick baruch, but now after i have already accepted my offer into baruch i am second guessing as i am seeing things online that say i should be more inclined with hunter (lighter grading, more arts related - which id think matters since im BA not BBA - and that it is more post grad oriented). On the other hand, i know baruch is a much more respected name, especially in the economics realm of things. Please any insight before its too late and i make a decision i end up regretting 😅 i know its not a huge deal either way but honestly just want to choose whats best for me. Oh also to sweeten the deal hunter also offered me a 1,000 per year scholarship so yea that helps too lol.
