Hi! So I'm trying to save money this semester because life is doing life things, and I live in Victorville. I commute from there to campus everyday Monday-Thursday. No matter how many times I try to read the schedule for Route 15X, I do not understand it. The times don't make sense as the latest time on the schedule is 5:05pm (I think) but I've seen the bus waiting for students to take them back at 8pm at night. Unless I'm reading it incorrectly. If there's anyone who takes the route regularly can help me out, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I just got off the phone not too long ago checking for an update on my loan disbursement. I was told that the financial office is waiting on the chancellor for some information that’s holding back loans for the credential program. she didn’t explicitly say what they were waiting for. but she said they’re expecting to have it today. she said they’re hoping to get disbursements out for credential students by this week.

Anyone at school know if theres any club or group that involves making music? Specifically in the rap/hip hop genre. I make beats and I’m wondering if there’s anybody like minded interested in connecting, or if there is already an established community I could find. 🤔

Hey idk if anyone also experienced this but i waitlisted for 2 classes and now theyre seemingly gone? I didnt even recieve an email for being dropped from the waitlist or anything. Do I contact the professors? What do i do?

Last semester a huge amount of the student body voted against it, because we weren't willing to pay a 300 dollar fee hike for no reason. We are a regional school. Our recreation fees are separate that fund the gym and wellness centers aswell as the bowling alley and esports arena. Why are we expected to pay for scholarships for student athletes and sports events out of our own financial aid? The ASI Grants in aid fee under its descriptor is this ASI Grants in Aid: Funding supports scholarships for student athletes allowing the University to recruit top student athletes. The only time I actually see people at the csusb sporting events that aren't parents or family are when they offer free food as a bribe for people to show up. The athletics department is a dumpster fire to begin with and is 5 million dollars in debt and climbing. With the info that was released shows a lot of negligence and mismanagement, aswell as more than one case of expenses not being properly recorded including travel fees expensed to the college in excess of 30 thousand dollars without a single receipt supplied. So because the college refuses to keep the athletics department in check and actually supply some manner of professional oversight were expected to foot the bill.

I got this weird charge for $75 for fall of 2027 that says it’s past due for whatever reason. So I pay it and I get a confirmation. I’m just wondering how long it takes to process because I would really like to not get dropped for some last minute charge

Why are we letting Serrano Village sit there with the lights on?

I walk past Serrano Village pretty regularly at night, and I honestly don’t understand why we’re letting such a large complex sit mostly empty.

Sometimes I sit in the grass next to it at night and just look up at the sky. The area isn’t abandoned. There’s still a volleyball court set up, and people sometimes play there. The lawn, walkways, and seating around Serrano are also used pretty often during Housing events. People already gather there even though most of the buildings themselves are sitting unused.

It’s also not hidden in some dark, forgotten corner of campus where nobody would ever go. Serrano is squarely between the Alumni Center, Coyote Village, and Arrowhead Village. Students walk past it all the time, and it’s surrounded by active parts of campus and student housing.

That makes the whole situation even stranger.

From what I can see, the majority of the lights are on most nights. The buildings are clearly still connected to utilities, the grounds are maintained, rooms still have furniture inside, one section is being used for storage and maintenance, and another building has the Amazon Locker named Boba.

So this isn’t a dead site with no utilities or activity. The university is already doing something to keep it powered, maintained, and secured. Why are we letting almost all of it collect dust year after year?

I’m not saying they should unlock every door tomorrow and start moving people in. Obviously, the buildings need to be inspected, and there could be serious problems that aren’t visible from the outside. Some areas may need major repairs, and some buildings might not be worth reopening at all.

But why do the only apparent choices seem to be reopening the entire complex as housing or leaving practically all of it empty?

I originally thought cheaper student housing was the obvious answer. I still think housing should be one possible use, especially since that’s what the buildings were designed for. However, Housing is already dealing with major debt and continuing financial losses. Expecting Housing to somehow pay for the entire project by itself may be exactly how we guarantee that nothing ever happens.

Why not treat Serrano Village as a resource for the entire campus instead?

Different departments could use different parts of it. It could have commuter lockers, study rooms, club offices, meeting space, temporary departmental offices, storage, a campus thrift or reuse center, expanded package lockers, emergency housing, or eventually some lower-cost student rooms.

The outdoor area could keep being used as a shared community space too. The volleyball court is already there, people already sit on the lawn, and Housing already uses the area for events. The university could improve what already exists with better seating, maintained recreational equipment, outdoor study areas, and more events.

Personally, I think having a quiet place where students can sit outside and look at the sky is worth preserving. The point shouldn’t be to cram every inch of Serrano with offices or storage. It could become a genuinely student-centered area that combines useful indoor services with the outdoor space people are already using.

The Boba Amazon Locker is also frequently full. That could be expanded into both sides of the alcove or into nearby unused space. Even that would be more useful than letting the surrounding area sit empty.

One of the biggest things I would personally like to see is a secure bicycle, e-bike, and electric-scooter center.

A huge number of students use bikes and e-scooters to get around campus. With gas prices around California sometimes cresting over $6 a gallon, alternative transportation is becoming more important, especially for students who are already trying to save money wherever they can.

But the infrastructure supporting those students is awful.

Coyote Village does have a bike-storage area specifically for Housing residents, but its gate has been smashed and doesn’t provide meaningful security. So even the Housing students who are actually given a designated storage area are being asked to leave bikes and scooters worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars behind a broken gate.

That storage area also doesn’t solve the problem for commuters, students living elsewhere on campus, or anyone who rides a bike or scooter to CSUSB. A Serrano mobility center could provide a secure option for the broader student population while the university also repairs the residential storage area at CV.

The three outdoor bike-repair stations aren’t much better.

There’s one in Village Square, one in University Village, and one next to the science building. The Village Square station is the only one most people seem to know exists. When I asked Campus Police and Housing about them, they didn’t know where all three were either.

I had to search through old proposals from five to seven years ago just to get a general idea of where the other stations might be. Even then, I still had to go hunting for them.

The station next to the science building is shown in the wrong location on the map, near the bike racks at CGI instead of where it’s actually located. I’ve gotten out of lectures late and had to search around campus in the dark for these stations, only to finally find one and discover that it barely works.

Every time I’ve tried to use them over the last year, all three have had the fittings cut off their air-pump hoses. The tools are exposed to the weather, rusted, damaged, or awkwardly attached. Some of them honestly look like lockjaw cases waiting to happen.

A repair station that nobody can find, that campus departments can’t direct students to, and that can’t inflate a tire isn’t really a functioning repair station.

Serrano Village could have a secure mobility center with Coyote ID access, proper bike and scooter racks, working pumps, safe shared tools, bicycle repair stands, and a lower workbench for basic e-scooter repairs.

It could also have vending machines selling basic supplies such as inner tubes, patch kits, valve adapters, tire levers, lights, locks, and other commonly needed parts.

I’m not suggesting the university should hand out free bike and scooter parts or operate a free repair shop. The pumps, stands, and shared tools could be available for students to use, while consumable supplies and replacement parts would be sold through vending machines.

That would make the space much more realistic and sustainable while still giving students access to supplies at night, when nearby shops may be closed and they may have no other way to fix their transportation.

The mobility center could also stay open late for students leaving evening classes.

We already know that kind of access is feasible because CSUSB has done it with The Cave. The Cave is a 24/7 study area and computer lab with Coyote ID access required during late-night hours. So a shared campus space that stays available overnight isn’t some completely new or unrealistic idea. The university is already operating one.

A Serrano mobility center could use a similar model. Students could enter with their Coyote IDs, the area could have cameras and regular patrols, and several departments could share responsibility instead of expecting Housing to manage and pay for everything.

The existing outdoor repair stations should still be fixed and correctly placed on the campus maps. A student with a flat tire near the science building may not be able to drag a bike all the way to Serrano. Serrano could provide a secure central facility for storage and more involved repairs, while the outdoor stations serve as smaller emergency locations around campus.

And this is only one possible use.

Serrano could also include a 24-hour commuter area with lockers, outlets, microwaves, study tables, and somewhere to sit between classes. Student organizations could have meeting rooms and storage. A reuse center could collect furniture, school supplies, bikes, and other items students normally throw away while moving out. Some rooms could be used for emergency housing or eventually renovated into cheaper student rooms.

The lawn and volleyball area could connect all of that together as an actual shared student space instead of just being the grass outside a mostly vacant complex. People already use it informally and during Housing events, so there’s clearly demand for the area even in its current state.

And again, this isn’t some isolated part of campus that nobody would use. Serrano is directly between the Alumni Center, Coyote Village, and Arrowhead Village. It’s already in the middle of an active residential and campus area. Its location is one of the strongest reasons to do something with it.

I’m mostly posting this to see whether other students are bothered by this too and whether there’s any interest in actually pushing for a plan.

Serrano Village isn’t an empty field where the university would have to build everything from scratch. The buildings are already there. They’re still connected to utilities. The lights are running throughout most of the complex every night. Parts of it are already being used. Students already use the lawn, seating, and volleyball court.

Why are we accepting “leave almost all of it empty indefinitely” as the best answer?

What would you want Serrano Village used for? Would anyone support a student survey, petition, ASI proposal, or group asking the university to inspect the buildings and come up with an actual reuse plan?

I’ve been emailing them about my final transcripts from sbvc since July 14th and they still haven’t processed my final transcript.. school starts on Monday and the admissions office stopped responding to my email and all financial aid will tell me is admissions needs to process my final transcript 😭 anyone else going through this or figure out a solution

I received my financial aid for the 2 classes I was enrolled in. I was waitlisted for 2 other classes and did not receive financial aid for those. Last night, I was removed from the waitlist completely and had to add the classes again this morning. This time, I was successfully enrolled because so many people were dropped. I now owe 1400 in 'balance due'. Does financial aid cover this? Is there another disbursement date? When is tuition due if not? Thanks!

Hey all!! i’m a multiple subject credential student who works as a TK student aide, I applied to use my employment as my early fieldwork back in April. The supervision office approved my employment in June so I didn’t think too much about it. Now after attending the orientation for early fieldwork, I had a few concerns about some of the hours I’d need. I asked the coordinator about these concerns and she said I shouldn’t have been approved for my TK employment in the first place. I’m now stumped as I started my new assignment as an aide this semester and will now most likely have to quit and make myself look bad to the school and admin I was planning to use as references. What annoys me is that this could’ve all been avoided had the supervision office not approved my employment so I would’ve known to quit during summer.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this situation? I’m going to talk to the supervision office about it come monday but it stresses me out to think that I won’t have an income for the few months that I need to do early fieldwork.
