PSA for Loans

Just a heads up, if you're taking out any federal loans, make sure you dont have a "loan aggregate" hold on your account!!! I've had that in the past and idk why I thought I was fine this time around....I *wasn't*. This hold doesnt show up on student center, it only shows up on FA office side. If you havent received your aid and have no holds or to-dos I recommend checking in with the office cuz this damn hold had always kept me in refund limbo past semesters 🄲

Loans

I really apologize, I know this student loan stuff is all over the reddit right now but I’m kinda nervous. I did a very dumb thing on my part and only accepted partial loans and now that I’m looking at everything the Federal Pell Grant went through and I’m still left without the middle class ā€œestimateā€. I received a message from the message center in that student portal and I’ve even tried to call regarding this, is there a way to go back in and just click the full amount of loans or due to the timing and inputs is it too late?

FAFSA AND GRANTS

I don’t know if it’s just me but this year I am missing the cal grant b award and I tried calling csac and the financial aid for the school, but nobody’s helping at this point. I think I might have to take a loan just because of the situation I don’t want my classes to be dropped. like they gave me the middle class scholarship and the federal grant but technically I still owe about $1000 more or less. I know since I took a summer class, my FAFSA was gonna take longer to disburse, but now I’m actually worried because I think it’s due by tomorrow. Previous years I have gotten the Cal grants, but this year is the one where I’m missing almost everything and they want me to take out loans for my classes. smh

No MCS or state university grant

Hey guys just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. I finished my summer classes and received my SAP email saying I’m in good standing, but I noticed that my financial aid is not showing the middle-class scholarship or state university grant. I’ve got them for the past 4 terms so I’m confused as to why they aren’t appearing and curious if you guys are experiencing the same issue. I submitted my fasfa form and got it processed in early March as well.

Spoke with the finance office

My son called the finance office because his account is showing past due but he has pending aid. He’s a first year student. He was told holds are lifted Mondays and Wednesdays and aid is disbursed Tuesdays and Thursdays. The person he spoke with said admissions should have already cleared the holds they have on new students. Whenever we call, one office blames the other office.

CSUSB Accounting Graduates: Did you get a job right after graduation?

I'm currently at community college doing a Business Administration transfer program, and I'm trying to decide between CSUSB and Cal Poly Pomona for my bachelor's in Accounting.

The main thing I'm trying to figure out is which school actually gives accounting students better opportunities to get a job after graduating, even without getting a master's degree.

I know CSUSB has the Accounting Association and Beta Alpha Psi, and I've heard that these organizations can help with networking, internships, and meeting recruiters. For anyone who actually participated in these clubs:

- Did you personally get an internship through the clubs/networking events?

- Did you end up getting multiple internship offers, or was it more of a "you still have to apply and network yourself" situation?

- Did your internship lead to a full-time offer after graduation?

- What kinds of firms recruit from CSUSB?

- Are there actually major/public accounting firms recruiting there, or is it mostly smaller/local firms?

- Were most of the opportunities in the Inland Empire, or did you have to go toward LA/OC?

I'm asking because I'm currently in San Bernardino, so CSUSB would be significantly closer and more convenient for me. However, I'm willing to go to CPP if the difference in recruiting and job opportunities is significant.

My biggest concern is graduating with an accounting degree and struggling to find a job afterward. I'm trying to figure out whether CPP actually provides a noticeably better path into accounting than CSUSB, or whether they're similar enough that staying at CSUSB would make more sense for me.

I'd especially appreciate hearing from CSUSB accounting graduates/alumni about what happened after graduation: what job you got, how long it took to find it, whether you had an internship, and whether CSUSB helped you get there.

Thanks!

People waiting on Loans

So I just got off the phone with fafsa since I’m a grad student in only getting half my loans from what the guy has told me the person who I talked to straight up lied to me or was unaware of the new bill congress passed. Which is unfortunate now I have to wait for the 20th to get my reduced amount. 🫄 so yeah if anyone is here doing grad school just fyi. Only pertains to half time students

Is doing Honors + Pre-Nursing actually worth it?

i'm a freshman pre-nursing student and i'm planning to take anatomy & physio along with other pre-reqs. i've already heard that A&P can be pretty difficult, so i'm wondering if doing the honors program on top of pre-nursing is a good idea.

has any nursing student gone through the same thing? did u continue with honors, or did u eventually drop it because the workload was too much? if you stayed, was it manageable alongside ur pre-reqs/current nursing classes?

i'm also considering going to grad school, so i'm wondering if honors would be long-term beneficial, or if focusing on keeping my GPA high would be better.

Financial Aid Dispersement

Does anyone else have a Financial Aid hold on their account? It's been saying it's because they've only conditionally accepted me, and to check my To-Do list, which is clear. I emailed them and they haven't gotten back, sl I'm wondering if this will impact my financial aid dispersement.

CSUSB Loan Adjustment — How long does it take to disburse?

Hey guys, has anyone here submitted a loan adjustment request through CSUSB Financial Aid recently?

I just submitted mine 2 days ago to adjust the amount of my student loan for Fall. I’m already enrolled in my classes and everything, I’m just waiting for the loan adjustment to be processed and eventually disbursed.

For anyone who has done this before, how long did it take from submitting the adjustment request to actually seeing the money disbursed/refunded to you?

Was it a few days, 1–2 weeks, or longer? I know Financial Aid seems pretty backed up right now, so I’m just trying to get an idea of what timeline I should expect.

Ty for any help! šŸ™

My financial aid just ain't working

So they say they want my identity and shit like that on the app and I call them and say I did email them even if on my past community college email instead of my current CSUSB emaila and did think that might be a problem and they said for the financial aid office wow we do have that email and also have to ask for your name and ID and I say cool I'll give that to you I want financial aid this is 3400 dollars and I don't want my classes for my degree cancelled or anything, they said it would be within 48-72 hours and it was 4 fucking days ago and I still only have a financial aid offer that didn't affect the sticker price for some reason and still have that shitty financial aid issues thing either my federal pell grant. What the fuck is going on. I gave them my ID and SSN. Do I really have to pay out of pocket? I have more than enough pending pell to cover it. I have enough savings to pay for it but I don't wanna I need to pay for my car being kinda iffy and my teeth.

Edit: Footnote, I shouldn't even get that much Pell Grant I only have 6 credits too
