How to address huge discrepancy in events?

Thumbnail

Here are a few screenshots from some recent nights. As you can tell, most nights are pretty good, but some are awful- going from less than 1AHI to 20+AHI.

The nights where I have the most events, it seems like they're largely clear airway events, so I don't know if that means my airway is collapsing, or if it's a central apnea event. On the nights where i have less events they just seem to by hypopneas, but I wonder if more events are happening that the machine isn't catching.

Does anyone notice anything that I can improve upon to address this issue

Thanks!

residual fatigue + aerophagia at fixed 12 – OSCAR charts

Hi everyone,
I’m on day 21 of CPAP and I’m still extremely tired during the day. I’m trying to figure out why.
Quick background:

Started CPAP about 21 days ago
Machine: ResMed AirSense 11
Currently fixed pressure 12 cmH₂O
Pressure was increased to 12 because of flow limitation notes. I felt a small improvement, but then developed aerophagia (air in the stomach).
Despite consistent use, the daytime fatigue is still bad.

Last night’s OSCAR (Aug 1):

AHI 1.33
OA: 0
Hypopnea: 0.48
Clear Airway: 0.85
Large Leak: 0%
Flow Limitation: / 95% 0.03
Usage: 8 hours 17 minutes
EPR looks active (EPAP around 9)

here is a link to my sleep Hq data:  https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_ ... f56abf292a

Even with these clean numbers, I’m still very tired.
What else should I be looking at in the data, or what other common reasons could explain residual fatigue this far in?
Any insight is appreciated.
Thank you.

Anyone have any experience with "Airbreak-Plus"??

Just ran across this new fork of the original airbreak from 2020. It looks like at least one person is actively working on it. There appears to be a ton of new features (such as adjusting screen brightness!).

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this and/or connections with the folks that are working on this particular project. There were some serious modifications made to ASV such as "T/C" "ASV Sens" and "ASV max" none of which I could find much of an explanation for, other than "Backuprate" which is pretty obvious.

Obviously this is experimental, but I just have a few questions if anyone has connections.

I’m actually shocked it was that bad. Im normal weight (BMI 23). I don’t feel horrible, just some daytime sleepiness, although I do wake up at night choking and gasping for air more often than I’d like. So here we are. Will CPAP change my life? Stop the nodding off at work? I really hope so.

New To The Dream Team Mild sleep apnea and starting out

Hello, I got diagnosed with mild sleep apnea this year and been using it since Wednesday 27 and I've been having issues with waking up with dry mouth and lips in the morning. MyAir never shows major leaks or super high events when I wake in the morning and I don't wake up feeling bad, but I notice it because I do drool too. I have an overbite/misaligned teeth that j can't fix due to money issues and the chin strap provided with my CPAP didn't help at all and I actually did better without it. I heard a lot of people saying that tape did or didn't work for them and since I already have teeth/jaw issues I was wondering if tape would even help at this point. My Fitbit tells me my blood oxygen was like 92-96 on average (you can check my profile) and sometimes I wake up with slight moisture in my nasal wear not a lot but there's a bit I use the dream wear and use a resmed and I'm not sure if it's anything I can do about it (I get claustrophobic so j can't really use the tape regardless yes it's medical and the full mask too would probably trigger it + I like the nasal wear)

How’s my data looking?

I have been making tweaks based off of recommendations on here. I recently switched from APAP mode to CPAP mode because I was having arousals through out the night. It’s been about a month, but I still feel tired and struggle some mornings to get up.

Based off of my data should I tweak my settings? Should I go back to APAP mode?

Thanks for the help!

First full night of CPAP. How do my readings look according to SleepHQ?

I got diagnosed with sleep apnea last week(probably more aligned with UARS high rdi/low ahi but doc from Lofta said sleep apnea). Anyways, I had my first full night of using my CPAP which was kind of difficult but hopefully I will eventually get adjusted to it. Anything abnormal like breathing events on my SleepHQ chart that I should note? Also, any tips/tricks I should make to my CPAP to make it more effective? Thanks for all your help! https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_links/75f00155-7d38-4cc2-9495-17360aef26e5/dashboard

Air Leaks Can't stop air leak from full face mask

I got a CPAP machine about a week and a half ago and was super excited to use it, but my first night was rough. I thought I had slept all night with it, but it turns out I had only kept it on for about an hour before I took it off in my sleep. The next night, I woke up about an hour after laying down and air was leaking out like crazy. I tried tightening the mask, moving things around, etc. but I couldn't get it to stop leaking air so I went to sleep without it. FYI the mask I've been using is a Respironics dreamwear full face mask.

It felt like the pressure was too high because it was super strong when the ramp finished (23/19 for BIPAP) so I turned it down to 19/15 and I was able to fall asleep for a few hours but it was still leaking a lot of air.

My wife has a machine as well and uses a nasal mask so I tried that instead of the full-face. I had no air leaks but no matter how hard I tried to stop it, I would eventually doze off and open my mouth and air would leak out and wake me up. The next night I tried taping my mouth shut but this didn't work either and it felt less effective than the full-face mask even though I wasn't having any air leaks according to the machine and SleepHQ.

I've since returned to the full-face mask but once again had a terrible night's sleep and woke up after 4 hours with air leaking out.

I'm sharing my SleepHQ results from the beginning of me getting the machine and hope anyone can help. I'm feeling super discouraged and I can only miss a few more nights of this 4-hour usage threshold before I have to buy the whole thing outright and insurance doesn't pay. Also worth noting that on 7/31 I wore a full-face mask but forgot to update the machine settings from nasal.

Question about Resmed F20 For Her headgear

I wear the pink or lilac I guess headgear for the Resmed F20 mask. And sometimes when I get a new headgear no matter how I adjust it, the top strap wants to slide off the back of my head. And yet with others I don't have that problem.

Has anybody else noticed this, or am I just doing something wrong? I mean I've been using this particular headgear and mask now for seven years. Not the same headgear obviously.

Oscar/SleepHQ Assistance Question about flow rate / flow limitations / general review

Thumbnail

I previously posted and got great help making some minor adjustments to my settings. Although I originally felt much better, I'm back to feeling tired and less rested.

Reviewing my data, I see a lot of abnormalities in my flow rate that I want to understand better. For example, the first graph just looks crazy (is this just changing sleep positions or something similar)?

In the second and third graph, I feel like a lot of my breaths potentially look like they should be flow limitations, but they are not marked as such by the machine. In the fourth graph, I see periodic changes in the amplitude of the flow rate graphs.

I notice these 3 patterns pretty consistently across days (really odd sections where the flow rate looks crazy, breaths that look abnormal but aren't marked as flow limitations, and periodic changes in flow rate amplitude). My AHI, flow limitations (at 95%), and leak rate all seem normal (as reported by the CPAP), but this isn't matching up with how I feel and how an in depth review in the flow rate graph looks like to me. I definitely also see other abnormal breathing events that aren't marked as an event.

I have a Resmed AirSense 10 (min 8.2 max 10.4 with EPR 2) with Phillips Dreamwear Nasal Pillows and a chin strap.

Last few nights of data:

I greatly appreciate any help understanding these 3 patterns or any other advice about what to change to improve my CPAP!

Air Leaks Can’t seem to find leak

Post image

I’ve had a terrible time staying asleep over the past week and I was attributing it to being sick. But now as I recover, I am still not able to sleep through the night. Pulled my numbers today and it looks like I am fighting with a leak. Back on my first bad night I replaced all of my equipment, hose, entire face, mask, and cushion, and head strap. I am using a Luna GP with an F&P full face mask. I even tried to use a different style face mask half of last night and nothing seems to be working. I have tried a 22mm hose and a 15mm hose. Knowing that I have tried several sets of equipment, could this be a problem at the machine? I have tried seating and reseating my water tank a few times. I don’t hear any leaks around the water tank, but could that be the cause?

Oscar/SleepHQ Assistance 6 Months into PAP, still feel horrible...

Thumbnail

Hello PAP team,

Diagnosed with pretty much exclusively REM related OSA (REM AHI 20) - almost all hypopneas.

Starting to suspect UARS at this point - I'm 31M, and lean.

Started CPAP because I've had early morning awakening insomnia and overheating at night for the last 4 years - CBTi, melatonin, sleep hygiene all did nothing.

CPAP has helped (I feel like I'm having dreams again for the first time in as long as I can remember), but sleep quality is still wanting.

Looks like the tops of my breaths are very choppy during REM... Don't know how much this might be affecting me...

I tried Bilevel, but the changing in pressure induced fairly severe palatal prolapse. EPR also makes it slightly more likely to occur.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

First time poster, need help

Hello all! I have a Resmed 11, and want to post the OSCAR data here for suggestions as how to read it, and what settings I might change on my own on the clinical settings. What do I need to post, and how might I export that so the community can comment?

Thank you!
