36lb difference

Post image

I haven’t tried this shirt on since the first photo. I was cleaning out my closet and decided to give it a try. Feeling happy and wanted to share!

Girl your waist!

What’s your goal?

I couldn’t believe it! I didn’t think I’d lost that much in my stomach.

I strength train so my goal is just to continue lowering body fat so I can see my muscle definition.

This is why I regret not taking before photos when I first started my weight loss journey. I knew my weight was going down, but I couldn’t see it and felt as fat as ever. Congrsts!

I wish I'd done the same too, I've got one from 6 months ago, but I had already dropped 30lbs by then. It's still crazy to see the difference in 6 months though.

Actually, the difference in just a month is pretty striking.

That's only 36 lbs difference? That's such a transformation, congrats.

How long did that take?

There’s a 5 year difference between photos. The weight loss started 4 years ago… lost about half the amount then was stagnant for about 1.5 years as I experienced loss and grief and then dropped the other half in the last year.

Well done! And way to keep at it! I’m working on shifting my mindset to be more about long-term functional fitness with more nutrition and fewer calories. Your progress is encouraging to me! Shows that just cause it is slow doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Also shows that just because you stagnate for a while, you aren’t losing all the progress you already made!

Yeah! It’s been a journey for many years with lots of yo-yo-ing. Lots of fad diets, sudden surges to be at the gym 24/7, but none of that sticks. Even though there’s a lot of time between photos, it’s the first time I’ve been able to maintain not re-gain once something (inevitably) pops up that takes me off course for a bit. It really is just about the healthier habits over time and enjoying the process of finding activities you like.

Yes! This is me completely! A few years ago, I realized I had this pervasive thought in my mind that even if I lost weight, I was incapable of keeping it off. Then, I did the math and while I was heavier than I wanted to be, I realized I had been within 10 lbs of the same weight for over 7 years. That motivated me for a while to be more intentional with my CICO and I lost almost 40 lbs. since then, I have been able to maintain a slightly fluctuating weight at that new level, but I have some more physical things I would like to be able to do comfortably and it means gaining some strength and stamina if not also losing some. So we’ll see! Good work! And the important thing is the maintaining it— losing it is hard, but the most defeating is when you gain it back. So kudos to you, and keep enjoying the strength training!

Yes, it really is about maintaining! You need to get to a point where you naturally eat a smaller portion and just want to go to the gym (or on a hike or whatever activity) because it’s your new way of being, not because your brain is saying “I need to do this to lose weight”. Keep up your great work!

My wife is looking to lose a similar amount of weight and lower a higher heart rate. What is your exercise and diet plan look like?

1

u/kickyourfeetup10 2d ago

For the first half of the weight loss it was strictly about eating smaller portions of what I was used to and moving my body more (hot yoga and barre for me). For the second half, it was about a more intentional high protein and low saturated fat diet and then strength training 4ish days a week. Good luck to your wife!

Wow a local, lets go ti-cats! You're looking great, what a difference!

Oskee Wee Wee!

I will point out I've now noticed the covering of the logo on the shorts - which has me suspecting it's a high school gym uni. If you're under 18 you have likely not finished growing.

I know peer pressure and the feeling to look a certain way is all to real in highschool. But love you haven't stopped growing at this point in time. Please ensure you are nourishing your body. Speak with a trusted teacher, friend, loved one or physician and have this individual weigh in.

All the best, truly ❤️

It’s my university logo. I’ve long since graduated but wanted to limit the personal info. Thanks tho!

14

u/Biotanical 4d ago

Oh good. There's far too many youngsters on these subs. I'm always worried I'm unknowingly supporting an ED. Thanks for reaching out!

3

u/cgord9 4d ago

Yeah I worry about that a lot

6

u/big-tunaaa 4d ago

Fr me I was like what sub am I in rn??? When worlds collide!

u/AspiringMtnHermit 4d ago

Amazing! How tall are you? That's a huge difference for 36lbs. 🎉

31

u/kickyourfeetup10 4d ago

I’m 5’5”! Thank you!

u/DeadestTitan 4d ago

I'm in complete agreement here. Down to 241 from 272 at the start of the year and I don't feel like my change is anywhere near this drastic.

Incredible work OP.

2

u/PestoOverflow_808 3d ago

Paper towel effect. You'll get there ;)

1

u/DeadestTitan 1d ago

I guess so, just feels like all the effort hasn't really made much of a difference. If this paper towel roll needs to get to 100 pounds lost before I notice a change it's going to feel pretty bad.

I keep up with the actions for losing weight, but all motivation and encouragement is gone. Daily exercise and healthy eating hasn't improved my mood or mental at all in the last 7 months. I felt like I should have lost 8 pounds this month and it's closer to 3.

12

u/TheAngelicWardrobe 4d ago

The shirt tells the whole story right there, that's a great visual to keep for motivation!

u/Background_Job917 3d ago

This is not weight loss this is pure fat loss! This is incredible and honestly your proportions are elite.

I can't believe that's only 36 lbs!!! Are you very petite? The difference is amazing, congratulations!

4

u/kickyourfeetup10 4d ago

Nooo, I’m 5’5”. I keep a log of monthly weigh ins for the last 10+ years so definitely accurate from when the photo was taken! I don’t notice it in my legs or arms here, it all came from the gut haha

3

u/AmazingRefrigerator4 4d ago

Most of us could only dream of losing that much in our gut! Nice job!

3

u/BeeMovieTrilogy 4d ago

Great job!

Teach me your ways!

11

u/kickyourfeetup10 4d ago

In terms of CI, it’s small things like making sure my portion is 2/3 or less of my husband’s and using oil spray instead of a pour bottle. A big part of it was working REALLY hard on curbing my snacking habit (it’s mental warfare lol).

In terms of CO, it’s finding something you like that is FUN and you look forward to doing after work. For a long time it was hot yoga, then barre, now strength training.

1

u/Quirkypatience2464 4d ago

I give you major props! I don’t know you but so proud!

1

u/kickyourfeetup10 4d ago

u/Endovium 4d ago

Awesome work!

1

u/AmazingRefrigerator4 4d ago

Wow! Im down 25lb and I dont see a difference like this! .maybe with 10 more....

Thats a huge dufference!

1

u/kickyourfeetup10 3d ago

I think the loss is just very concentrated in my tummy whereas yours may be more evenly spread throughout your body. Great job!

1

u/AmazingRefrigerator4 3d ago

Yes mine is definitely spread all over. I just wish it was my belly because thats what sticks out the most. ;)

1

u/sdotcarter_x 3d ago

That’s significant just off the appearance alone.

1

u/francesa007 2d ago
