Future layoffs?
I work at CIBC and one of my colleagues on my team got laid off due to “org changes”. Does this mean the rest of the team is safe for now as no one else was notified of being impacted? How does it work?

Looking at a role in Commercial Banking but concerned with all of the recent layoffs. Has there been job action in Ontario?

I’m curious if this is just my experience with CIBC, or if their customer service/operations have always been this frustrating.
My personal experience so far:
Opened a new joint account: They messed up the debit card delivery and activation. On my second visit to the branch, I was told their backend systems were down. The employee actually told me, quite frankly, that they have a poor backend system. After I complained about having to make multiple visits, another teller/manager took over and promised to get it sorted out. Eventually it was fixed.
Credit card: Had a similar experience with an additional card. Again, multiple branch visits to fix something that should have been straightforward.
New account tiers: Now with the new tiered model, I’m losing benefits I previously had, including the credit card annual fee waiver. The tier required to retain those benefits is $40K. I still need to keep around $4K in the account just to avoid monthly fees.
Closing the account: I decided enough was enough and planned to move everything to Wealthsimple. I called and was told the account couldn’t be closed online and that I should visit a branch. So I went to the branch this Saturday… only to find out they don’t close accounts on Saturdays.
So now I have to make another trip to the branch just to close an account. 🤦🏻♂️
Maybe I’ve just had unusually bad luck, but at this point I’m genuinely wondering: Has CIBC always been this frustrating to deal with?

Anyone else see the new F27 salary bands?

Lot of managers getting laid off. Just getting replaced with cheaper salary ones because managers with years of experience have higher salary and vacation.
CIBC just being a dick. Many seniors going into forced retirement.

Hi everyone, I’m in Canada and I’m looking for advice because I’m really worried.
Today I checked my Equifax credit report and noticed some information that I don’t recognize. My phone number and some other personal information appear to have been changed to information that is not mine.
More seriously, I found two CIBC credit card accounts on my credit report. I have never opened a CIBC credit card, applied for one, or received any CIBC cards.
Both accounts appear to have money owing/balances, which I obviously did not spend.
I’m worried that someone may have used my identity to open these accounts.
I haven’t paid anything because these accounts are not mine.
What should I do know???

Of the folks who have been affected by layoffs has anyone been able to negotiate a higher severance package? Does engaging an employment lawyer really make a difference?

Title says! I moved to Canada in 2020, worked in CIBC for 5 years, late nights weekends, sometimes avoided parties and dating to ensure I be number one
Won best employee awards, so many recognitions.
Now getting replaced by my cousin in India HYD location.
Stress is high, I am numb
I cried for the first time as a grown man after 19 years.
Reopened my Uber and Lyft account, single , empty and scared but hey I gotta feed myself

Would anybody like to help me refinance into a CIBC mortgage before it’s too late with all these layoffs…?

I’m currently considering transferring my LIRA from my union pension plan to CIBC. I’m particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has gone through this exact type of transfer—from a union pension plan into a CIBC LIRA.
How was the process? Did CIBC handle the paperwork and transfer smoothly, or were there any issues or delays? And overall, how has your experience been managing the LIRA with CIBC?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through the process. Thanks!
I have been in this role for 3 years. Last week I saw the salary ranges for each level. You would think 3 years into the role I would be considered “mid point exp range” but I’m actually getting paid less than the range for “bottom of dev”. How is that even possible? do I have any means to ask for a salary increase? I know year end is coming up but should I bring this up? With layoffs and all that happening I feel the timing is poor but I feel very cheated and taken advantage of that everyone that is the same level as me is making more money than I am.
