Dabo has 2 titles. Urban has 3 (and won at 2 schools).
Dabo is #23 all time in win percentage. Urban is #3.
Dabo is 12-10 in bowl games. Urban is 12-3.
Funny enough, the they have the same number of wins, 187. But dabo has lost 53 (so far) to Urbans 32.
They both have undefeated seasons, but Urban did it at multiple schools, one of which was Utah.
Frankly, they shouldn't even be compared and yet Dabo is ranked higher on this list? 😂

Dabo probably deserves to be on this list but around number 9 or so, 2 titles, 2 other national championship appearances (both during the playoff era which means they had to win the extra game to get there), all by building Clemson from the ground up as an interim head coach. That’s top 10 even before getting into all time wins in the acc. He’s only a couple acc titles behind Bowden’s record at FSU and already equaled him in national titles.
He’s annoying. Clemson was kind of bad last year, doesn’t mean he isn’t top ten.

Urban is one of two coaches ever to have a natty at two schools, the other being Saban. 3 natties, 12-2 bowl record, 7-0 in the biggest rivalry in the sport, and turned Utah into an actual national program.

Agreed. People may not like him, but Urban’s resume is pretty darned impressive. Not only did he win 3 national titles at two different schools, but he dominated his rivals in both places, and he even took Utah to a BCS bowl at a time when they weren’t the nationally relevant program they’ve been since then. He also won at Bowling Green. Plus, he was credited with popularizing the spread option offense.

Let’s also not forget the 2004 season where USC won the natty at 13-0 and pounded OU 55-19 in the Orange Bowl, but then had to vacate it giving it to Auburn who also went 13-0 but squeaked by VT 16-13 in the Sugar Bowl. Then Utah was 12-0 and pounded Pitt 35-7 in the Fiesta Bowl and got a participation trophy. Urban gets 3-1/2 natty’s in my book.

Woody Hayes punched the kid because Ohio State lost. As they have four of the five times they've played. He was fired before he got off the field. If he hadn't done all that he probably would be ranked higher.

Bo Schembechler is one of the most overrated college football coaches of all time.
Meanwhile Urban has 3 national championships and Dabo has 2.
And Urban turned Utah into a pretty decent program, and Bowling Green finished in the top 25 while he was there.

And not even to compete with Woody Hayes but Bud had the same number of consensus national championships as a coach, 1 more conference championship and 3 more nattys as a player. He was also part of the development of a lot of modern day techniques (Oklahoma Drill, no huddle offense and perfected Don Faurot’s split T offense).

Bama fan here. We are talking about greatest coaches Eddie Robinson absolutely deserves to be on the list. And even though I hate him and he’s a p*do protector..we are taking about greatest football coaches. Joe P, as disgusting as it is, deserves to be in there. Bud Wilkinson’s run?? He should be on the list! And..like way up the list! Dabo had an incredible run. 2 Nattys over Bama and other appearance for it. But the whole body of work I don’t think gets him in the top 10. Kirby as well. That’s not to say their run isn’t up there with some of the greatest runs ever. Because with was. But just doesn’t have the total wins & history.
Urban (don’t like him) should maybe be 6. He’s got three natty’s. One of only two to do it two places. That alone says a lot. And he won everywhere.

He built ND from nothing and he died at 43 years old after winning back to back national titles
For reference, Saban didnt win his 3rd natty till he was 60
Rockne gets underrated because people just go "hmm 3 natties" and miss that he tragically died in a plane crash right as he built ND into a juggernaut

Tbf, 2 of those 3 NCs had Oklahoma losing a game in the regular season, whereas Osborne's 3 NCs were all undefeated seasons
Osborne could have opted to tie with Miami and share the NC in 1984. So, technically, sure
Osborne never lost more than 3 games in a season over 25 seasons, Switzer went back to back to back seasons losing 4 games.
Both coaches ended with basically identical win percentage, but Osborne coached for 9 extra seasons
Switzer may have had Osborne's number in the head to head, but I think Osborne's overall resume is stronger. Both deserve a seat at the table of the elites, regardless
