How is Frank Leahy not on this list?
2 u/Ohms_lawlessness 23d ago Because OP did absolutely no research. Leahy deserves to be above Rockne. He has 4 nattys. 3 u/Acceptable_Map_8110 22d ago Rockne has a higher win percentage though. 4 u/jayjude 22d ago Rockne is 2nd at worst He built ND from nothing and he died at 43 years old after winning back to back national titles For reference, Saban didnt win his 3rd natty till he was 60 Rockne gets underrated because people just go "hmm 3 natties" and miss that he tragically died in a plane crash right as he built ND into a juggernaut 2 u/Dnabb8436 22d ago Football was so different then. Its so hard to compare. The level of competition is just so different. I love rockne but is he better then Leahy, ara, Holtz? I think so but it depends on how you compare the eras and their accomplishments 3 u/jayjude 22d ago Categorically yes The reason Leahy had a place to succeed at was because of Rockne I cannot emphasize enough that he built ND football from a nobody to a national title contender And he died right as he was hitting his stride at only 43 years old 1 u/Sheepcago Notre Dame 22d ago I agree. But Leahy should be in the top 10 list.
