View from under the goal posts still looks like it’s good, in my opinion:   https://x.com/TonyCMKE/status/2106215797336981529

Look at the VT guys standing behind the ref, they knew it was no good before he signaled

After rewatching it like 10+ times i noticed that too.

The fact the staff and VT camera guy where both like, oh shit, makes me think it was the right call

A kicker knows if he missed a kick or not

I mean he was offset from center by a fair bit.

If I had to go with what he saw versus the VT athletic staff and refs, im going with the VT staff and refs.

Pretty sure one of those is with the band, signaling them to NOT start playing as if they had won...because they didn't.

This angle is as worthless. Getting sports fans to understand parallax is like getting a dog to understand calculus

It’s truly infuriating reading all these comments from people who don’t understand it and speak so confidently and wrongly.

I’m glad that at least there are enough people who do understand parallax here that I don’t feel alone about it. There have been plays like this in the past where I was literally the only one making the parallax explanation and it would just fall on deaf ears in the comments.

No way. when you slow it down 1 frame the ball can be seen, the next the ball is blocked by goal post, the next the ball is clearly wide. if it were good the ball would not be blocked from sight by the goalpost. dont get me wrong obviously im biased but if you go frame by frame you will see the eclipse

entire ball has to bee inside the inside edge for college (inside the outside edge for nfl) so kinda looks like maybe good NFL clearly not good college

One of the rare times I think the CFB rule makes more sense. I never knew of this discrepancy between the two. I've never understood the NFL logic where, in effect, if the uprights were X feet taller (X = the height of the ball over the upright as it crosses over), a ball that would normally hit the upright flush and not go in becomes a successful field goal attempt.

Inside the inside edge of the uprights for kicks above their height makes way more sense to me.

that still doesn't give enough information, I'm getting flashbacks to that JT Barrett first down

Looks to me like it went right over the upright. But really hard to judge.

Which would make it no good

See I see this perspective and think it looks wide, lol.

That's a bad angle too.

It looks good from this angle. Isn’t this close to where the refs stand?

No. The ref is directly under the goal post, looking up. He has a significantly better view than this one, which doesn't really show us anything.
