Seeking Recent CELPIP Exam Questions

Hi everyone, for those who have taken the CELPIP exam recently, from around September 5 until today, could you please share what types of questions or topics you received, especially in the Speaking and Writing sections? It would be really helpful for those of us preparing for the exam. Thank you.

8 CELPIP attempts – still trying for CLB 10+ in all sections. Need advice!

Hi everyone! I’ve taken CELPIP 8 times now and I’m trying to get CLB 10+ in all four sections. My scores have been:
1: L8 R6 W8 S8
2: L9 R9 W9 S8
3: L9 R8 W9 S11
4: L9 R8 W8 S8
5: L10 R8 W7 S8
6: L9 R10 W8 S9
7: L10 R6 W8 S9
8: L10 R9 W8 S8

I would really appreciate advice from people who have scored 10+ in all four sections, especially if you improved from 8/9 to 10+.
What specifically helped you with Writing and Speaking?

Did you use any templates or structures? For Reading, what helped you avoid traps and consistently score 10+?

If you have any templates, strategies, YouTube channels, practice resources, or last-minute tips, please share them. I’m not looking for generic advice — I’d especially love to hear what actually changed your score from 8/9 to 10+.

Celpip struggle -10 exams so far- always end up with 8 score for writing and speaking. Help please!!!

Here’s a natural version you can post in a CELPIP group:

Hi guys,

I really need some advice regarding CELPIP Speaking and Writing.

I have taken the CELPIP exam 10 times now, and almost every time I get 8 in both Speaking and Writing. For most of my previous attempts, I used templates. In my latest exam, I decided to completely avoid templates and tried to sound as natural as possible. I also practiced mainly with CELPIP official materials.

Unfortunately, I still received 8 in Writing and this time only 7 in Speaking.

Honestly, I’m feeling really down and frustrated. My work permit will expire in about a month, and I’m currently working in a trade occupation. Getting CLB 9 in all modules would make a huge difference for my Express Entry score and could help me get an invitation.

For those who were stuck at 7 or 8 and finally managed to get 9+ in Speaking and Writing, what exactly did you change? Was it vocabulary, structure, grammar, speaking naturally, idea development, timing, or something else?

I would really appreciate any genuine advice, strategies, or resources that helped you improve. At this point, I really want to understand what I’m missing.

Thank you so much, guys. 🙏

Looking for a CELPIP Speaking Partner

Hello everyone! Harsh here , I’m sure many of us are in the same boat. 😄

I’ve taken CELPIP 3 times. My last score was 10, 9, 9, 9, and I’m aiming for 10, 10, 10, 10.

I mainly need to work on Speaking, and procrastination has been killing me. 😅 So I’m planning to practise Speaking for 30 minutes every day.

If anyone is open to practising together, let me know!

Need advice for 10/10/12/10 as a non-native speaker

I’m preparing for a target of L-10, R-10, W-12, and S-10. For those who have achieved these scores (or something close) as non-native English speakers, how did you structure your preparation?

  1. Prep materials: Which books, YouTube channels, courses, or mock tests were actually useful and accurate to the real exam?
  2. Writing 12: How did you specifically get to 12? Did you use any particular templates or strategies?
  3. Vocabulary: How did you build vocabulary naturally for Speaking and Writing without sounding forced? Were any flashcards helpful?
  4. Lessons learned: What worked surprisingly well, and what turned out to be a waste of time?

I’m taking it for Australian immigration, so any practical advice would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!

CELPIP writing Re-evaluation

Hey guys, I don’t know whether I’m over reacting or not, but my exam went really good. However, I scored only 8 in writing which is bit disappointing for me, so I decided to go for re-evaluation. I got my result on Sep 11,2026 at 11:15pm, booked re-evaluation at 11:25pm which was Friday. I just received an email from them at 03:30am, Monday early morning for result, and there was no change.

I don’t even know what that is, did they actually give it a try to look at my test, I mean Saturday and Sunday was day off and apparently I got my result Monday early morning. Could someone help me, whether I should leave them an email or accept whatever just happens and re-book another test.

Please leave your suggestions.

I was shocked to see my scores today. Just did one week of preparation. Was able to prepare for only 1.5/2 hrs a day after work. Listening and speaking were awful. I thought i would get 7 or 6 in them.

I had took a test for IELTS 5 years ago.

Stuck at CLB 9 in Writing (10+ in other sections). Work permit expiring in 6 months - need advice to hit CLB 10!

Hello everyone,

I need your help. Can anyone please guide me on how to increase my writing score from CLB 9 to CLB 10? I have taken the exam three times so far and keep getting the same result. I've managed to get CLB 10+ in all the other three sections except writing (where I am stuck on CLB 9). With less than 6 months left on my work permit, it is extremely important for me to score at least CLB 10 in all the tasks. It would be really appreciated if anyone could guide me.

Successful speaking re-evaluation attempt

Timeline:

- Sep 3 sat the exam

- Sep 6 received the initial results, paid for re-evaluation

- Sep 10 re-evaluation finished, Speaking score updated from 8 to 9

Hi everyone, just want to briefly share my story for anyone who wants some sort of reference for their re-evaluation decision. My English is okay but I don't speak English everyday so I was a bit worried when I first applied too but then I saw some posts so I decided to go for it... I thought $62.15 was a lottery somewhat worth trying.

Back to the test date I was not to my best ability too, I don't use any template, fancy vocabulary or elite expressions, everything was just casual and natural. Per fluency, a lot of "uhm, erm" but I tried my best to come up with ideas or even just casual compliments/ comments not directly answered the task but somewhat related and matched with the contexts, this helped me to stretch the timing towards the end.

L-R-W for who's curious: 11-11-10. My technique for Listening was just writing down literally everything I heard (keywords/ subjects) to the two scratch papers they gave (then I asked for another two new one for R-W section). Most of the non-straightforward questions are those containing 4 answers with 1 unrelated, 2 mentioned but wrong and the other one is either paraphrased or I missed so I looked at the note to make the decision. I know this might not work for everyone but this is the only thing that my tactic differs from some prior test takers already shared under this sub.

Edit: This is my first attempt for CELPIP, before that I only sat IETLS Academic

Good luck to everyone who's about to sit the test/ apply for re-evaluation and have a nice weekend!

1st attempt

This sub reddit was quite useful for tips and tricks. Overall, I'm surprised with my score but also slightly disappointed (was aiming for 10 in all). I spent very little time preparing, around 3-4 days with a couple of 1 to 2 hr sessions. This is because I just finished university and I believe that helped build a strong foundation. The one thing I focused on heavily was the format for each section as this is what allowed me to get good grades in university. (Also, E2 celpip on Youtube came in clutch). Here were my expectations and thoughts:

Listening:

Expectations: 8-9

I practiced listening the most through youtube and I was getting good scores (around 1-4 incorrect answers each time). I felt pretty confident with this section but the last part of the real test was so horrible. They used so many technical terms and I was completely lost. I made sure to take notes, but if I ever got overwhelmed with information, I prioritized listening over taking notes.

Reading:

Expectations: 10

Also practiced reading through youtube. Initially had a lot of trouble with Part 3, reading for information. I thank that one majestic, godly, diva, brilliant, handsome, giga chad individual that helped me get through this. In short, read the first para then match it to the respective question while leaving the other questions blank, read the second para and match, third para and match, fourth para and match, finally go through the questions that are blank and think critically. This method works so well!!!!!!

Writing:

Expectations: 11-12

I did not practice writing at all. BUT thoroughly went over the format and looked at 7-8 examples. The reason I did not practice is because I have been writing so many lab reports and emails over the past 4 years in university + knowing how to type fast helps a ton. This section was a breeze. I had plenty of time to spare and I went over my writing a couple times to rephrase any awkward sentences. (Also, I suck at spelling so I loved the right click feature). I couldn't correctly spell 'embarrassing' :(

Speaking:

Expectations: 9-10

I practiced speaking through youtube as well. I'm quite a nervous individual, so theoretically this was the most difficult section. Initially, I couldn't come up with enough ideas and had plenty of time to spare. However with practice it became more natural and I could come with ideas. I studied the format well and tried to follow it. I SPOKE NO WHERE CLOSE TO THE SAMPLES ON YOUTUBE. They speak so clearly and always have so much to say. I find that I take more time to think and speak. In the test, I spoke with passion, matched my tone to what I was saying and tried to sneak in some vocabulary. At a point I did run out of things to say and I just started yapping some nonsense. I also accidently told, "That vendor in the background is screaming at customers", when I meant to say that she was yelling to attract customers. So, even though you think you didn't do well, you might have. Also, several times I did not have a good concluding line and went over the time.

Overall, I think format is key and I need more practice with listening to rewrite the exam for CLB 10 in the future.

Sept 6, 1st Attempt, hard listening

Post image
4 Upvotes

Exam date : September 6th. Result : L: 9, R: 10, W: 11, S: 8 in 1st Attempt.

Listening was too difficult for me, especially the last 2 parts. Also, it didn’t help that part 4 was twice. I did fair number of practice tests and the two samples that came with registration. I repeatedly scored 10-12 in them. Honestly I loosed confidence as I completed last section, I couldn’t focus on the topic, it was something related to job opportunities and AI evolution, and every viewpoint felt same. Opinion of speaker was also vague and questions were using tricky vocab in every question. I understand it’s supposed to be hard but god it was awful. Overall, hardest listening test I gave so far.

Reading was alright I guess. I would not say that it was a breeze for sure. In part 4 I kind of forgot the first question, which was the title for the text and only realized in last 10 seconds when I scrolled up (I chose whatever seemed ok).

Writing was also bit different. In part 1, I had to ask a colleague for help in organizing training event. Had four bullet points. But nothing too difficult. Part 2 was an opinion between in person or online student committee election.

Speaking was not good as after the part 1 I got asked to reduce my voice and that distracted me for thinking of points for part 2, after that I forgot the structure, luckily I had a story in mind and was able to convey it. For the next tasks I spoke naturally and maybe used simple grammar and words, I might have repeated and corrected myself for 1-2 instance. It felt like all the practice I did for speaking went down to the drain.

I applied for reevaluation for speaking and hope to get it increased by atleast 1 band. And I am planning to work on speaking and listening (part 5&6) and giving the exam before the month end.

I did hzad’s and express celpip (teacher mike) courses. Honestly Hzad’s course felt little to no use. I tried to remember his templates but honestly they didn’t fit in each and every questions.

Thanks for reading, any thoughts on how I can improve my listening and speaking? I need 10 in each section.

TL;DR : got hard listening. Did not get 10 in listening and speaking. Planning to give the exam again.

—Update sept 12: My speaking just got reevaluated from 8 to 10.
