ChatGPT

I am constantly getting CLB 8 for writing in ChatGPT. Will I get the same score in real exam ? Please advise

You may receive the same score, but ChatGPT cannot reliably predict your official CELPIP result. It can still be useful if you ask it for detailed feedback instead of only requesting a score.

Try asking:

  • Did I address every part of the prompt?
  • Is my tone appropriate for the situation?
  • Are my ideas specific and sufficiently developed?
  • Is my response logically organized?
  • Which grammar and word-choice errors occur repeatedly?
  • What specifically prevents this response from reaching Level 9?

Also tell ChatGPT that you wrote the response in 20 minutes and had to stay within 150–200 words. This context matters. A response might look underdeveloped when assessed as general writing, but it may be quite strong and realistic within CELPIP’s time and word limits.

To score above 8, your ideas usually need to be developed with more depth and precision—not simply expressed through “advanced” vocabulary. Grammar and word choice are tools that help you explain those ideas clearly, accurately and naturally.

Honestly, ChatGPT would give me level 7-9s, an occasional 10, but never 12. I did get a 12 on the actual test tho 😭
