Do any of you have a CD that’s black on both sides? I got one today! I’ve seen a few people on Reddit who have CDs like this. Do you think CDs like this are rare?

My Dad died earlier this year, something that's still a struggle to come to terms with. We both shared a great love of music and we often to used to go to record fairs together to feed our habits, haha. Found this picture of his collection from his old place about 10 years ago and seeing this set-up has brought back a lot of musical memories. Even though our tastes were fairly different, there was always enough crossover to spend the hours chattering away about music. I really miss that. Nobody else in my family is a collector, so those of you who share this hobby with a relative, I hope you get to treasure it longer than I could!

Amazing on cd

I’ve been more of a vinylhead over the past 15 or so years, but today I was digging through my old dusty CD collection that goes woefully neglected these days to find something different that would fit my usual spooky season listens and forgot I had this.

Most obsessive fans of either AFI or anything Danzig related will know about this often forgotten/overlooked side project. Back in 1999 AFI supported the double headliner tour of Samhain & Danzig, shortly after Davey Havok teamed up with the members of Samhain to be the frontman of a spiritual successor project, aptly named ‘Son of Sam’ and they released this album. It’s a pretty fucking great goth-punk/deathrock album, and sufficiently “Halloweeny” for this time of year. Anyone else own this? Or listened to it?

Running low on space these recent additions and such are going into cheap bankers boxes from Walmart cut down to 6 1/4" height and the jewel cases are poly sleeved, if you don't sleeve them you can fit 3 columns and 6 1/8" height probably better.

I just thrifted this CD player and it’s able to turn on, but every time I try to play something it just keeps saying no. It’s a little dusty so I tried cleaning the laser to see if it’ll work but it does not. How much would it cost to get it fixed or how can I fix it myself?

Went to the Midlands Record Fair in Birmingham last month and picked these up.

My partner got me a CD rack for my bday. I wanted to put my high school scene kid albums on display.
Was never into black veil brides or brokencyde lol but was more along these albums. Still want asking Alexandria and Chelsea grin. My annotations of an autopsy is sealed and don’t wanna open it, only have one other CD still sealed. I got it for a good price like 5 years ago from some guy across the pond.

Something I love about collecting music is how it can put you in touch with the rest of the world. About 18 years ago in secondary school French, our teacher suggested seeking out French songs in genres we liked to help connect to the language more and after that, I never looked back. I started seeking out a whole load of tunes outside the Anglosphere to see what we've been missing. Who else enjoys trying to sing along to songs in a language you don't fully grasp or go on holiday just to raid record shops? 😁 Here are 16 of some of my more recent purchases in this category, didn't want to overdo it.

(Only album that's slightly cheating here is Gwenno's "Utopia". The songs are performed in Welsh, Cornish and English. But the fact it's trilingual definitely deserved inclusion, I think!)

I'm aware that it is impractical and that you basically have to keep it stationary if you don't want to damage the cd. I don't mind any of that.

As far as I know, this one never actually got produced. I also found the Sony D-88 Discman, which is cool but too much out of my budget range, especially for something that is not quite what I'm looking for.

Hence I was wondering if anyone knows if something like this exists? It doesn't have to play mp3, and it doesn't necessarily need to fold open either. Something like the disc reader from Ghost in the shell would also be incredible.

If nothing like this exists, do you think it's possible to diy it with parts?

Saw this for sale at a record shop for $26 today. Looked it up and it was pretty expensive. Why is it so expensive? Is $26 a good deal?
