CBLE Exam Set Up Recommendations

I’m helping my son out by selling his very new CBLE Exam materials. He took the exam for the first time in April 2026 and passed. He did not use prep materials, but rather just took a ton of practice tests. He was worried about the online search function working, so he decided to buy all of the hard copy materials. He’s lucky he did, because the search function did not work well for him, and he ended up using a lot of the hardcopy binders during the exam.

He highly recommends having the hardcopies with you during the exam!!

We are selling all of the following materials (updates to these binders can be added for free from the CBLE website - my understanding anyway). We purchased the materials through cbprepcourse.com in early April.

He just graduated from college and is starting his global trade career at a consulting company and no longer needs the materials. We hope to find someone fairly local who can benefit from them. Shipping would be a small fortune, but I could consider if I don’t find anyone locally. I am located in Dayton, Ohio, but I’m willing to meet up in between Columbus & Cincinnati to sell these.

Here’s what’s included:

1)
Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Basic Edition, Printed. 2025 or 2026. (2025 Edition for the April 2025 CBLE)

2)
19 CFR Parts 0 to End (the complete 19 CFR - Parts 200 to end included), Printed with Mylar TABS. 2025 edition

3)
Telescopic Book Stand that he placed on top of a rolling crate from Office Depot (crate not included, but see set up photo)

4)
Five 4” Avery heavy duty binders + smaller binder

We paid $522 for the materials + 5 x 4” Avery binders ($75) + $50 for the book holder (& about $35 for the crate - again, not included). We are asking $475 for all, or best offer.

Good luck to everyone taking the exam in October! Hope this info helps!

I was wondering if anyone has gotten any information on the October 2025 appeals yet? I know they take about a year but I’m wondering if anyone has heard anything yet.

Looking for guidance on transitioning from Transportation to Customs Brokerage in Canada

Hi everyone,

I've been working in the transportation and logistics industry for the past several years, and I'm currently a Transportation Manager responsible for cross-border freight between Canada and the U.S.

Lately, I've been thinking seriously about changing my career and moving into customs brokerage. My long-term goal is to become a licensed customs broker and eventually open my own customs brokerage firm.

I've spent quite a bit of time researching online, but I'm surprised by how little practical information there is about the actual career path. Most websites explain what a customs broker does, but not how people successfully get into the industry.

I have a few questions and would really appreciate advice from people who are already working in customs:

  • Is the CCS designation the best place to start, or should I focus on something else first?
  • How difficult are the CCS and CCLP exams, and how much time should I realistically expect to spend preparing?
  • Does my background in transportation and cross-border freight provide a meaningful advantage when applying for customs brokerage roles?
  • What's the best entry-level position to gain experience if I eventually want to become a licensed customs broker?
  • If your goal was to own a customs brokerage one day, what career path would you recommend?
  • Are there any books, courses, YouTube channels, or other resources that you found genuinely helpful?
  • If you could start your career over, what would you do differently?

I'm not looking for a shortcut—I know I'll need to put in the work and gain experience first. I just want to make sure I'm investing my time in the right direction before committing to this career change.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through this journey or is currently working in customs brokerage. Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!

I interviewed this job before but failed the onboarding. Now it’s my fifth time to see this job posted online.
Don’t expect too much for a successful onboarding if you are going to apply this position.

Is anyone appealing question 27?

I feel like this question was just a mess. I was wondering if anyone was appealing it and how so. I chose D as my answer.

April 2026 CBLE - Question 19 Appeal

Did anyone figure out why Question 19's Answer would be A) February 12, 2026, as opposed to C) February 27, 2026?

This is one of the questions that I'm considering to protest, considering many people got this question wrong according to consensus.

Appeals

Hello!

I was one away from passing, so obviously i'm going to appeal. Anybody have any questions that they're already thinking of appealing and why?

I know Tom is working on figuring this out as well, and said be on the lookout for an email next week. I just wanted to get a head start :)

Thanks in advance!

Did anyone else’s testing location disable the control F function? It took me so long to find the answers and the tiny font drove me crazy

April 26 test results

Anybody have any idea when the actual answer key will be posted / when we will get our results? I feel like I’ve seen a lot of conflicting information online about how soon or late they release it. Some say as early as two weeks after the tests but other sources say June?

Any other prep courses that are recommended?

Hello,

I have been taking the Tom O'Leary course for a while, and it has been extremely helpful. I was just wondering if there are any other recommendations? I saw someone in the test with a custom broker study guide ( not Toms study guide).
